  1. One does NOT need to stick to a compact portable... One COULD do a spawling, twisting coaster, too.
  2. Sign up for the Usergroup letter... It will save small children, puppies and Kittens. Learn about the latest contests TWO WEEKS in advance! Do it. DO IT! The small puppies, kittens and children will thank you.
  3. A random thought... To boost the TPR Games Forum Mailing list, I'd like to try a game with it- and people who read it get the goodies. I'm still trying to figure out how it would work- but people ARE reading it, and it's good for publicity- any ideas?
  4. I kind of like the idea of CW going for some records for once- and not just the crowds on a typical day. As much as I'm looking forward to HP's SkyRush (Gee, no surprise there or anything!) I'm also looking forward to seeing this new 'whatever type of coaster it is' at CW; Another high-capacity coaster is REALLY needed there.
  5. That statement just made my day.
  6. Actually- This morning alone: two ToTW contest entries- and I've not even done the mass broadcast, either. I'm thinking that (even though we'll get some flack for it) we need to stick to RCT II for a while, as it seems to be more in-line with what people like about the ToTW contest; I've even thought about making a micro-park for people to work with during the contests- more on that later.
  7. Welcome Back, Robb- The answer is yes and no. From what I've seen, the RCT II contests are attracting between six and eight people per week- and the RCT IIIs are between two and three; The advance notice for the Junior Woodie competition is already showing some buzz. Moving it to a Friday basis is moving things a long a bit more than before, but more promotion is also helping as well. I'd like to keep it going for now- for one reason: I think as summer ends and people get bored at home we'll see more traffic. As far as NL being used for it, I think that aspect for it is dead- for now. Doing the two week rolling announcements is still getting started, though, so I'm curious to see if that does build traffic up over the short/long term. R.D.
  8. In the name of the Lord, Our Saviour, Anton Schwarzkopf... Amen. From the last reports, Flamingoland still has Bullet/WienerLooping in storage- however, I attempted to contact them on the status of the ride- to which their response was 'It is still in storage.' And that's about it, I'm afraid. I tend to think that it is, sadly for the Honor of His name, not able to be reconstructed, indeed, it was not in good shape when it was brought down due to it's moving history and the climates it had lived in. Praise be to Anton.
  9. Incredible... The more pics I see of TDS, the more I'd like to go back and spend more than two hours there! And the Lava Monster bears MORE than a passing resemblence to either Godzilla or Moth-Ra's foe in "Godzilla Vs. Moth-Ra" Looking forward to further updates, Hanno- such a beautiful spread of photos!
  10. Waldo and Wil-Burr's Polar Coaster- Santa Land, NH.
  11. Wow- I never thought I'd get to say this: But that train is giving you 'The Bird!' hehehehehe- I never even saw the bird when I first saw that pic... Apparantly, in Japan, the coaster trains wear cloaking devices, too!
  12. Derek- refine the track plan just a bit- the layout is great, but some of the hills/transitions appear to be potentially jarring both vertically and horizontally (I.E. the single unit drop after the turnaround on the far right side). I'd also consider doing a fan-turn over the station- just for visual appeals of the ride. Looks like a great layout, though.
  13. A great update, Chuck- and those signs really do start pointing the way to Verbolten- and drop enough hints to be curious- yet not so revealing... save the car driving off the bridge image... or the rocks falling... I wasn't aware of how big the hole was till I could see DF's leftovvers in the background- which from memory seemed so much further away than my memories of the Wofl?DF area in years well gone by.
  14. Head meet wall, wall meet head. Why is it that there is SO much doubt over something as simple, straightforward and as easy as a JUNIOR WOODIE??? It's not like it's that complicated to do...It's not like it's something HARD... Oy.
  15. Your droptower looks great- good colors, good arrangement- but I'd consider putting glass roofing over the queue completely, not just over the switchback segments.
  16. It's a simple question: How many JUNIOR WOODEN coasters have a drop over 40 feet? Or for that matter, a height over 40 feet? Folks: Please read and THINK before asking a question. It's not that hard. Don't over analyze a design: if it says a JUNIOR WOODIE (40 feet or less) then it should be just that: Nothing MORE than that. R.D. GFMT
  17. The Muse has inspired me... Introducing the first two models of the Blackout Coaster series... Blackout I: A tall, fast and heavy on the G's steel coaster, with hints of Schwarzkopfian influences and thematic elements of Black Holes, Supernovas and other high-G force influences of Nature. SCR48.BMP Take a trip on Blackout I Blackout II: With inspiration drawn from the steep, long twisting slides of my youth in Brooklyn, I wanted to recreate a black-label thriller with a positive G force finesse that no other ride like it could. SCR49.BMP Blackout II: If you DARE!
  18. I find the color 'teal' to be the Vogue color this year for coasters... Look at SkyRush with it's teal supports, and now this thing for CW... Either way, congratulations to them, and it's good to see that Cedar Fair hasn't given up on B&M coasters.
  19. Congratulations to Tiger01 with his winning entry AQUA. Please contact me with your information for your prize! Our new Track of the Week Contest is: RCT II- Arrow Suspended (NOT Vekoma Airplanes, NOT Vekoma Floorless...) You may edit your terrain as you'd like- but no CS, NO CTRs. Just the tracks, Man. The winner of this challenge will get TWO TPR Dvd Downloads! You know you've got a suspended coaster track you've been holding onto- Let's see what you can do! Next Track of the week: RCT II- Junior Wooden (40 feet) Congratulations to Tiger01- and who will be our next winner?
  20. A.J.- Remember they are teenagers, and they know EVERYTHING. After all, they're so wise, smart and intelligent that it's something to be quite proud of, and they KNOW IT ALL. Personally, I'd wrap their knuckles hard- as in: Edit their posts to reflect a more respectful answer. If making the names so long that the marquee cannot even use all the character spaces is 'realism' then let them know that. Other business of note: TPR Challenge winners announced- as the same with ToTW- sending out a mail-blast shortly. Next ToTW is RCT II: Arrow Suspended (NOT Vekoma Suspended, NOT the aeroplane flying cars, etc. but a -REAL- Old-School Arrow Suspended. Future ToTW: RCT II Wooden coaster, 40 ft. in height. (Yes, I'm handicapping them or we'll end up with hyper-woodies, etc. Next TPR Challenge is Monday (Due to the 'delays' this past few weeks, I wanted to keep to schedule as much as possible) - TPR Challenge: Build a NL Schwarzkopf Ein, Zwei, Dreier Looping coaster. Open terrain, and easy to do. R.D.
  21. Awesome report, Chuck, as I can say that all that Intamin goodness really does show through... so blue, so sensual, so... why isn't it ready yet???? Sadly, I must say a lack of SchwarzPorn was evident here... No love for the Grande Dame of HersheyPark?
  22. Hanno- Another wonderful update, across the board. I don't know how you do it- it must be a special talent- but you seem to make even the nastiest looking TOGO coasters look like they're made by Intamin or B&M- simply elegant pictures of such painful torture devices!
  23. I think that's because my butt ran that curve from it's opening day till the last visit I made to SFA... and nothing looks a retched as it does nowadays... For this one: Park, Designer and TYPE are required From RCDB: Really? Did you really think I WOULD do any other designer???
