Official RCT/RCT2 Help Thread
QueerRudie replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
If there is a problem, PM myself or one of the other MODs here- that's what we're here for. If there's something we've forgot, we will change it. It might not make sense, but in the five plus years I've been around TPR, I've yet to see many problems/posts over RCT I- it's just not something we have direct contact with to a degree. I will ask the other MODS if we need to change the name for it- but in most cases, people who play RCT II have already played RCT I- and therefore (as one of our other members has stated) will be able to help you with your issue. 1.) There wasn't a specific topic listed for RCT I/II/III- and unless it's speficied as such, we will merge it into the appropriate thread. 2.) More importantly- Be more polite with us. End of story. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team -
I'd be mighty suspicious if Intamin did that; it simply doesn't make business sense- for anybody... Let me give you a little history here of why exclusive contracts end up being a bad idea- and in some cases, changing history: In 1932, Boeing Aircraft Company owned United Airlines (In 1934, all manufacturers divested holdings in airlines, this went for Lockheed as well) and decided that United needed a new plane to one-up the competition. Being foresighted, they created the model 247- a single-winged all steel plane that seated... a whopping 10 people. It bested the competition by 50 MPH, and flew longer legs than other planes. TWA, before being owned by Howard Hughes, went to Boeing and wanted to purchase 50 of these new planes- and Boeing, being short-sighted, turned them down- saying that production of the new plane would be exclusive to it's own United Airlines for the first four years. TWA, not one to give up, went to Long Beach- and Douglas Aircraft co, with a similar specifiacation: Only make it 4 seats larger, and make it with better design: The DC1 is born. Further improvments that the 247 wasn't able to replicate were done to the DC1, creating the DC3- the world's best selling (And longest lasting; nearly 1000 are STILL flying today) airplane. The DC3, which came out in 1935, seated 21-28 people, flew 100 mph FASTER than the 247, and could go much farther in better comfort. It was SO good... that United after being divested from Boeing bought the DC3 as well- not to mention the 14,000 Douglas produced for WWiI, and the 4500 the Soviets made themselves (the Li2). Boeing, having lost their pants on the 247 didn't produce another airliner for mass sale till 1946- the Stratocruiser- and then later the Jet 707. The rest is history from there. In the amusement industry, it would be suicide to sell only one of a ride when you have quite a bit of competiton. There are quite a bit more builders of large-scale rides now than 15 years ago, and now there are more breaking into the market every decade: Look at PAX for example, or Zierer now building large-scale rides (The ESC coasters, for example). I think when it comes down to it, there isn't an exclusive contract on I305, Intamin and KD, but rather: A better price was offered by Zierer- and in turn the choice of Mack for Manta at SWSD.

Most companies have a "zone of exclusivity" type deal which prevents rival parks within a certain distance of said major new ride/attraction from potentially installing rides/attractions from the same company. It exists to prevent other parks from potentially 1-upping said new attraction with an attraction from the same company and drawing people away from the original attraction (which could create tension between park and manufacturer). And it does seem to add a little diversity in the industry as well. ** At least that's how I see it ** Even then, I support Busch in giving smaller companies a chance and taking risks. They *kinda* did it with the B&M sitdown and look at how far they've gone since then. Zierer and Moser seem to be the next step. I have, in my 30 plus years of watching coasters, have only had verified proof of ONE such contract- and that was Oblivion at Alton Towers- and that was a range contract. Intamin, who opened up two of the worlds tallest back to back (2003 then 2005), would not even THINK of risking a potential sale by putting a restrictive contract or exclusive contract with a park- no matter how much money was involved with it. It would be like Ford building a super-fast car, and saying "Well, we're only selling ONE for the next five years to your neighbour, and therefore you can't get one." NO manufacturer, no matter how impressive, would do that when you have a customer. Ever. It's bad business. You NEVER piss off your clients- even if they beg you to. For the price of an exclusitivy contract, you lose a shitload of money- not to mention future sales- to your competitiors. If a park wants something to hold for a while, they have to put up or shut up money wise- and that goes for Intamin, B&M, Zierer, Mack Mfg, Vekoma BV, S&S/Arrow, etc. I hope this puts this issue to rest- as anybody who's seen this industry knows it's all about the size of your.... wallet. Not the paper it's made from.

There are six people in Iowa going "GASP! I never knew she even had a problem! Such a tragedy over a wholesome girl like that!"

Premature Ejection of the train... this is BEGGING for a parody.... "Does your Vekoma Boomerang suffer from the heartbreak of Premature Ejection? Do your riders suffer a let down feeling because they didn't get a full ride? Are people headed over to your newer attractions in search of a better, more consistant thrill?" -

All of your custom scenarios are most likely 'hidden' as a safety precaution that was setup on your Windows Vista/Win 7 machine. To see all of the files, you must 'show all files' in that folder/directory before you will see them. To 'show all files' please consult you Microsoft Help screen on your computer. R.D. Looking great so far. I found Lakemont to be charming, and a great hour-stop during my last PA foray. I've not hit Delgrossos- but for 10.00 for a pizza, it's now high on my 'to-do' iist- even if it IS a single spinning coaster. R.D. -

The only thing I can imagine is that it's too hot- and there's something with that, velocity wise; but that's totally against logic for a coaster. -
Kind of reminds me of Brian and Stewie Griffin "And the evidence keeps piling up..." (Nobody could ever figure it out with me... other than I played Softball, Field Hockey, Golf and Tennis...and I loved the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheredge, and pot-luck dinners.) So what you are saying is that you are a Lesbian? Yeah - they reminded me that my first favorite song was by Abba, I was picking out my own outfits by 4 years old and the ONLY time I EVER mowed a yard for money is so I could buy a Diana Ross album. I guess I wasn't fooling anybody . HAHAHAHAHAHAOWOWOWOWOWOHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHWOWOWOWOW... Wonderfully decadent- and over the top. I think my first album was by the B52s- there was something about them I could never quite put my finger on till I was older- or my obsession with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford (Can you imagine the -HORROR- of my parents taking me to see "Whatever happened to Baby Jane... and me LAUGHING instead of being scared at it, followed by my pretending I WAS Bette Davis???). (As for my obsession with Flannel, my 'shaved bald' head, and my Doc Martens, well, YES, I do tend to be a Dyke Tyke more than anything else... I don't know why. I guess I was so butch I looped around to Lesbian.)

The idea that BGW is giving these companies a break in the big leagues shows either one of two things: 1.) Total 'testicular forititudinalistm' with regards to new designs, or 2.) Somebody had been over at the old Hospitality House WAAAAY too long. I questioned the idea of using Moser instead of Intamin or S&S for a drop tower (Granted, I questioned the idea of Drop tower in the first place- but that's my opinion on the park's surroundings itself. But if it turns out a great ride, Mazel Tov! (You won't get ME on it!) I do hope that it's a case of flop for one, Mega-success for the other- and that a bad dress rehearsal turns out an excellent show. The idea of Zierer moving into the full-scale market excites me- as do the ESC train systems that have been leaked out from BGW.

Ahem.... Some are "special" Some are "Short-Bus" Some are Comicon people... and then there are the WORST ones... Some are Comicon people who will correct Matt Groening on his own shows... -
The scale of your ride is off in that picture; it's out of frame by about 20%... and it would be squeezing the site WAAAY too much to fit nicely. As much as I'd like to see a more 'classic' B&M Standup at SFA, I don't see it- Georgia Scorcher would be the only design that could fit the plot nicely, and that too would be a tight squeeze to say the least. The reason I say the B&M Floorless Compact model is this: 1.) Not as expensive as a 'full-size (Medusa, Bizarro, etc.) coaster 2.) Has a two-train capacity, ensuring a single-train at all times capacity at SFA 3.) would look good on the site without drowning out the other rides around it (As much as I liked TS/SM there, it DID distract from Wild One). And that's even guessing it's a new coaster, too.

[NL] Anton's Tribute
QueerRudie replied to foreseer's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Being a Schwarzkopf junkie (One of those weird, obsessive-compulsive Schwarzkopf Junkies...) myself, I find it difficult to put into a NL ride (Or any of the other games) His special spirit of building- but you have done so without making a characature of of His rides. Outstanding job- I think Anton would be quite pleased with a tribute coaster such as that. The only thing I would consider changing is the block brake leadint into an uphill powered section onto the remaining two block brakes- I would consider raising that up if possible! R.D. -

You can't. The forum size is 700kb- so anything larger must be re-sized in a photo resizer. You can find these all over the web, and there are quite a few that work very well for photos- and allow you to save them, name them and edit them along the way. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
