  1. In the off season, I try not to think about it too much. But then all these good construction updates come out and it can get pretty exciting. Planning for future trips is another way to look forward to the on season while I'm waiting.
  2. A lot of the Euro fighters that Gerstlauer are very smooth as well. It's always nice to see.
  3. Hmmmmm... This was a 16-year-old. Wasn't it? I would say just go ahead and say something next time. When you go back home it's likely you and him will never be in contact ever again.
  4. ^ I agree with that, but still, Cedar point can say they have the second tallest drop tower in the world. That is very appealing from a marketing standpoint and they way the park is marketed is what gets people in the door.
  5. ^ I have also felt like I was going to fall out of rides at times, but not once have I been scared by it. ^^ Drop towers used to give me the creeps, but not as much now.
  6. For my own sake, I don't count anything under 25 MPH as a credit. It's called quality control. If someone has 1,000 credits but they're all from wacky worms, I don't think that should count. Hold on, let me ask the committee for a ruling. ... Nope, the committee says no.
  7. It's a good thing the balloons were allowed to fly! But it looked like they were having them lower this year than in years past.
  8. I know B&M hyper trains are everywhere and they're not the most unique, but I still like the look of them.
  9. Back to Goliath. While I understand seatbelts and think they are good backup safety devices if the ops can minimize the delay between dispatches, having to go through two separate restraint checks is overkill and frankly, a load of crap. Is this an America-only thing, and how do safety checks go in other countries? I think I read that they don't even do the checks on Expedition GeForce, but that was a long time ago. Ok, so my stance on preride safety checks is this: -Checking a restraint is unnecessary, but it is still a good idea that it is done. (There are systems in place to be sure that the restraints are locked, plus it is still the ride's responsibility to be riding safely) -Seat belts on a steel coaster are unnecessary. -Seat belts on a wooden coaster are not necessary unless it is a single bar that goes across both seats like on the PTC trains on The Scream Machine (SFOG).
  10. On most rides, even ones that are launched, I usually don't get any feeling of anticipation before the launch or initial drop, but on Kingda Ka I did. So for that reason alone, I would put Kingda Ka at the top of my list for rides that scared me the most.
  11. You might be a coaster nerd if you can read though any page on this website and have an idea of what is being discussed let alone participate in the conversation.
  12. I don't think this would be a good idea because now some astronauts may WANT to use the emergency escape. It's an interesting idea, though.
  13. To add insult to injury, the ride does need paint as well.
  14. Son of Beast was very rough, but still kind of a good ride.
  15. Time start making new coasters with dual stations to cut back the dispatch times Tatsu has dual stations and they rarely use both at the same time...[/quote I mean they will have to resort to something to speed things up I agree 100% with RollerCoasterAwesome's comment. But having a dual station DOES NOT mean faster loading times. At SFOG, the second station on Superman has literally never been used and there have been days with upwards of a 3 hour wait. A dual station is a good idea, but it only works if the park decides to use it, and there have been plenty of times where Six Flags didn't make that decision.
  16. This was a good point, but I would like to take it another step further. Can a ride become more dangerous by adding these safety features? Could we have a situation were ride ops become overloaded and overlook some details because of the array of other safety measures they need to keep track of? It's a situation of over correcting the problem, and therefore creating new problems.
  17. That's a quality family photo and a nice looking coaster, but after that I can't offer much help other than to agree that the photo was probably taken some time in the early 1930's.
  18. ^ White Lightning is good, but so is Woodstock Express at Carowinds. There just aren't that many of those small PTC woodies left.
  19. -iPhone -Cargo shorts to put the iPhone in Traveling light is a whole lot more enjoyable.
  20. Now that you mention it, this will be putting the pressure on SFOG to come up with a new coaster to compete with LakePoint.
  21. Height is great, but I would really prefer a more intense experience like TTD or Kingda Ka. My guess is that this is going in at Universal.
  22. So, it looks like there's two new coasters coming in 2015 and 2016. The one for 2016 looks like it duels. Cool.
  23. This guy is pretty funny. I can't believe he was able to go on about it for 10 minutes, though.
  24. That ride as a whole is very strange.
