  1. Oh yes, the Vekoma Flyers seem pretty hard to maintain; I wasn't even think about those.
  2. Does Tatsu's dual-load station count for a 5th block? Always wondered about that... Excellent question, and I would say yes. Tatsu's station counts as 1 block. But why? You can't have two trains in the same block and If they're operating both stations, there will almost always be 2 trains in the station block...
  3. Nitro is not that bad. As for Skull Mountain, I suppose Revenge of the Mummy has set my expectations way too high for indoor dark coasters.
  4. ^ Go ahead and give that another million times for me. Ninja was crap. I also dislike Skill Mountain at SFGAdv, but at least that ride doesn't beat you for riding it.
  5. SFGAdv has more than a "few" good coasters. Sure, not all of them are world class coasters like the ones you mentioned, but all of them are at least somewhat enjoyable. There are far worse coaster collections out there. I can agree with that, but Skull Mountain was REALLY bad. If I had the choice to level any coaster on the planet, it would be Skull Mountain.
  6. So, it looks like just about anyone that owns a business or large space can have the Google Streetview guys come and take pictures of their area. http://www.google.com/maps/about/behind-the-scenes/streetview/ They also had pictures of the bike they use in the parks and also a back pack for remote areas.
  7. This is why it's the CRAZY idea super thread....
  8. I remember the safari costing an additional $20-$30, whatever it was, I remember it bein more than I wanted to spend. But they are having success at whatever price they're charging because the queue was almost full all day.
  9. I found a lot of good stuff under the TPR video of NTAG. I really didn't like this guy. Would you like to see the same thing happen to the the smartphone market? People for from texting everyday, would could go back to simple phones that don't text, right?
  10. ^^ Yeah with the addition of Full Throttle, 200 is really nothing because it may even be possible to see a 200+ foot coaster that inverts.
  11. I don't think anyone has every attempted a greater that 90 degree lift...
  12. ^ Something similiar happened to me at SFOG, but I tightened the restraint WAY to much and it was my fault. The return spring on just this one restraint on Goliath was broken or missing, so when the restraints were released, the restraint had to be pushed to the open position, rather than the usual slow return to the open position. I didn't know this when I sat down, though. I usually grab the corner of the restrain and give it a good hard pull and let go of it, and that will usually get it within a few notches of my waste and I can tighten it the rest of the way slowly. Since this didn't have the return spring, there was nothing slowing the restraint as it came down, and it came down HARD. LOL
  13. ^ I can see how that's understandable, as Vortex was only their 2nd coaster, they probably hadn't had everything figured out, or the more advaanced technology we have 22 years later. I was at SFGAdv this summer and Kingda Ka was doing surprisingly well; it didn't close once all day and I was expecting it to close at some point if it was even open for the day. Because of the degree of sophistication that's required for a launch, I'm sure there's all kinds of things that could go wrong.
  14. I just checked and under every YouTube video of NTAG, the comments are "currently unavailable." What's going on with that? Is YouTube doing this?

  16. Now hold on, how can we be so sure that it's going to be an invert?
  17. I've noticed the same with many other B&M flying coasters. Maybe one or two good elements, but not that great overall. Those one or two elements makes the ride and that's it.
  18. That SkyRush looks shorter than 200 feet. I suppose it looks much bigger in person.
  19. Robb's commentary is good, one thing that you have to keep in mind is that the public is generally stupid when it comes to theme parks, roller coasters, ect. It's just a fun way to spend one or two weekends a year to most people. Also keep in mind that not everyone in the GP is stupid, just a lot of them are compared to the kinds if people you'll see here.
  20. Since the project is starting pretty early, this is going to be pretty big, I assume. I wouldn't at all be surprised In fact, if most of these come out to be true. In fact, I would say that Just looking at some of those statistics (which are fake at this point), I really don't know what to say other than that I would really be sad if , considering how much marketing and PR stuff goes around these days.
  21. I've seen that typically B&Ms have done the best in terms of up-time in consideration for how much they're used by a park. I've seen tons of problems with anything that isn't a full circuit such as the Vekoma Boomerangs, but I have seen pretty good up-time from the Intamin impulse coasters. I would say that after everything, typically mine trains or smaller rides like that require less hassle in therms of maintenance, probably because they go slower so there should be less wear, and the restraints usually aren't individual, it's usually one system for each car, which reduced the number of moving parts.
  22. I feel like this is a reactionary procedure put into place, not a proactive measure that would actually prevent an accident from happening. Really frustrates me when parks do things like this. Here's an idea - instead of making your employees do silly things on a ride platform to give an illusion of being safer, how about just ensuring they do their jobs really well...the same job ride operators have been doing for DECADES that have kept hundreds of millions of riders alive. --Robb On Thunder Road at Carowinds, they have been doing the multiple visual scans since the beginning of the season. I talked about it on the Carowinds discussion thread and I'll talk about it again, SOMETHING IS GOING ON WITH THUNDER ROAD. Back in April, they had both stations open and they would race both trains every once in a while. There were like 3 or 4 supervisors in the station all day when they were having them race and the 4 of them would stand at the back of that station and watch both trains go up the lift. Then, if there was anyone breaking any kind of rule while they were going up the lift (turning around, pulling out a cell phone, touching the railings, ect.), they would come over the the offender(s) when their train got back to the station and bring the full force of hell down on them. One of the supervisors double checked one of the trains before they let it go, too.
