  1. Was this at SFOT or SFNE? Is this a sign that is telling about the ride behind it, or are there other signs including this one just pointing out things about installments that belong to Six Flags?
  2. This is interesting. I'll have to learn more about this.
  3. Wow look at that, Gatekeeper stuff is already flying in.
  4. ^ I can shed even more light on this. When you translate "roller coaster" from English to Spanish, the output is "montana rusa." If you then translate "montana rusa" back into English, the output is "Russian mountains." Pretty interesting.
  5. I like the S&S towers better. They look nicer and on too of that, S&S has more experience as a company making drop towers.
  6. Wait, did you ride it or did you operate it? Your lack of nouns is confusing me.
  7. This is what they mean by "LONG ARM" of the law. Or I suppose in this case it would be the long arm of the tax man.
  8. Very interesting question. I would classify it as an out and back as well. It does interact some with the terrain, but when I think of a terrain coaster, I think of Mindbender at SFOG. Mindbender stays low to the ground in most areas, utilizing the terrain. Hades does go underground, but it's not interacting with the shape of the land when it does that. It does, however, shoot out to the parking lot and then comes back in, therefore, "out and back."
  9. After Burn at Carowinds is actually a very good invert, I'm surprised it didn't get more votes.
  10. It probably hasn't been out long enough for that.
  11. What do you mean? Right now, SkyScreamer is brand new and looks terrific. In a few years, it will start to fade if Six Flags doesn't take care of it. Tatsu gleamed when it was opened, but SF hasn't painted it and it doesn't look so good now.
  12. White Lightning made it's first test run essentially a week before it opened to the public. It just depends on how much testing they are able to get done in that time frame, if the state approves it, etc. Ha! A week would be impossible for something like an Intamin rocket. It took something like a month to test Kingda Ka. I have to hand it to them, though. Working out the problems in the hydraulics and everything must have been a huge headache.
  13. Every time there's something related to theme park safety or something general about theme parks in the news, they always seem to use a picture of some kind of Vekoma coaster. This time it was an SLC.
  14. It's too bad SkyScreamer will never stay looking that new.
  15. I remember seeing a documentary about something and these were in there. Interesting ride.
  16. I would say that there is a better time to open it since they're going to miss Memorial day, but I just don't see it.
  17. Very true, and parks do a very good job of making the wing coaster especially look nice.
  18. MindBender at SFOG- I'm sitting in the front seat, and the ride op brings a drill bit up to the operator sitting behind the control panel and says "I found this in the back seat." Then, the kid behind me says "Oh, can I get out?." Ride Op: "No, it's fine." Kid: "But I don't want to fall out!" Ride Op: "No that was a drill bit, it's not part of the train." Kid: "We're on a train?"
  19. ^ Sounds like fun, and I'll be in the area for the 5th, but I have a jam packed scheduled of things I have to do. If I'm ever over by your end again I'll be sure to let you know.
  20. ^ What was B&Mboy doing on an intamin?
  21. It's that launch/lift hill. Isn't it like 30 miles an hour?
