I had a few experiences like this when I went on Golaith at SFOG. Half way though the 540 degree helix, I was greying out. I went a few times, actually, because the line was so short. It was luxurious, it was so short. Every couple of times, I would grey out half way though the helix. I could fix this for the most part by holding my breath, but really I should never have to do that. There was one time that I completely blacked out and it was scary. I didn't eat very much that day, let alone anything to drink, and I had a lot of sugar the day before. I also had a headach, so I probably was pretty dehydrated. I will keep that in mind next time I go.

Batwing needs paint. Does it usually have a monster of a line like Nighthawk at Carowinds? At any time during the day, even at closing, Nighthawk as a 2-3 hour line. I would say it's not even that good, but another thing is that the operations for Nighthawk aren't so good, it takes almost 5 minutes to dispatch a train.

If they're testing them, then we probably will. -

There have been a few times, I think the one at Cedar Point has gotten stuck a couple, needless to say I am not even taking the slightest chance of getting stuck on top when visiting this year. Do they know what the problem is and are having trouble fixing it, or are they still having trouble identifying the problem? -

Definitely trims, and also, elevated break runs. -

^ That's probably their star attraction, it is a very small park. -

^ How many times has it gotten stuck at the top? The only one I know of is the one at Carowinds. -
Build It And They Will . . . Forget.

^ I was going to say DDD as well, but for a differnt reason. It is a pretty good ride, but there are many others in the park that I feel are better. For example, Mindbender or Goliath. If it was a longer ride or had more inversions, I probably wouldn't be as apt to forgetting it. -
First Defunct B&M?

^^ That's fairly likely if the park doesn't reopen. -
First Defunct B&M?
Aceattack52 replied to 11slataus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that, as of right now, B&Ms are fairly valuable. If a park doesn't want it, they aren't going to put it into storage or sell it for scrap, certainly there is another park willing to pay more for it than its scrap value. There may be a whole bunch of Batman clones in the US, but keep in mind, if no park in the US wants one of these, there are always international options. I don't think we'll be seeing defunct B&Ms until much later, when there are a lot more in existence. They are still in high demand. I wouldn't worry too much about Time Machine going out completely. The park hasn't operated for a while, which means they are bleeding money. They can get more cash by selling it, having it sit outside with no riders makes no money. -

The Windseekr at Carowinds wasn't working last weekend. They were raising and lowering it and there was a maintenance guy sitting in the booth for most of the afternoon. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
Aceattack52 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's Spring Break down here in the ATL and that means it's time for another family vacation to Carowinds! This year we went from 4/5/2013 until 4/7/2013. We arrived when the park opened on the 5th, and left at about 2 in the afternoon on the 7th. on the 5th and 6th, we were in the park for pretty much all of the day from open to close. There was a sign in the park that was telling about how there was a chorus and orchestra "festival" going on between now and the end of May. There were quite a few kids there on Saturday and Sunday that were part of a school or chorus/orchestra trip. That bogged down the rides and clogged the ques. Thunder Road was racing! I think something was going on and they weren't racing, but they were racing them on Saturday and Sunday. Every other day I had gone, they only opened one side with 2 trains, but on these two days, both sides were open with 2 trains each. On the days they were racing, the station was full of the light blue shirt supervisors. Some were shadowing the ride ops checking restraints, and at times they would take over and dispatch a few trains. The other thing I noticed was that they were VERY strict on the rules at Thunder Road. When both trains would go up the lift, two ride ops and most of the time, a few supervisors, would watch from the station as the trains went up the lift. Anyone breaking the rules were reprimanded when they returned to the station. The supervisors seemed very reluctant at first to race the trains on Saturday. I'm sure something was up before. Wait Times Friday, April 5th, 2013 Intimidator- 45 minutes AfterBurn- 35 minutes Nighthawk- 3 hours Thunder Road- 10 minutes Carolina Gold Rusher- 20 minutes (opened around 1:30) Carolina Cyclone- 5 minutes Hurler- DLed all day Carolina Cobra- 20 minutes Vortex- 25 minutes Ricochet- 20 minutes Saturday, April 6th, 2013 Intimidator- 1.5 hours AfterBurn- 2 hours Nighthawk- 3.5 hours Thunder Road- 5 minutes (both sides open) Carolina Gold Rusher- 45 minutes Carolina Cyclone- 30 minutes Hurler- 1 hour Carolina Cobra- 1.5 hours Vortex- 2.5 hours Ricochet- 45 minutes Sunday, April 7th, 2013 Intimidator- 10 minutes AfterBurn- Walk-on Nighthawk- 2 hours Thunder Road- 5 minutes Carolina Gold Rusher- 15 minutes Carolina Cyclone- 5 minutes Hurler- 15 minutes Carolina Cobra- 10 minutes Vortex- 30 minutes Ricochet- 15 minutes *These were the wait times for most of the day, they seemed fairly consistent, except for the times around when they opened and when they closed. Intimidator still looks vibrant and new, it did have a few short breakdowns, but nothing major. No funcionado hoy! Yeah, it was busted all three days. This guy was out front. He looked pretty angry, probably because they didn't let him inside with the other dinosaurs. Imagine him doing push-ups! Do you see that plane? Next time we go, I'm going to hop inside and fly away! The money munchers and the trash munchers live in harmony. There was some nice theming in this area. I think I remember there being more North/South Carolina Carowinds posts here. There weren't very many funny reactions on Hurler. They had this place which sold fresh fruit, bottled water, and of course, Coke. Don't mind the guy in the grey or the little girl. Two stations, full and open for business! Vortex was still running well. It does suffer from some roughness, but it's not too bad. This is the entrance to where they put the guests that don't follow the rules and bring loose articles on the rides. There were a ton of people bringing stuff on the ride, so I imagine this place was nearly full. Through those people in the foreground, was the 1.5 hour wait for Intimidator, coming out of the que, on Saturday. These guys were pretty funny. I seriously do hope these people enjoyed the ride, it was an insane wait to get on it. Welcome to the South, the only place you can buy racing fuel from the same pump you buy you're regular car's gas from. This was at the Marathon right outside the park. -
Pennsyvania Trip Questions
Aceattack52 replied to LoneRider92's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^/^^^ I have heard some bad things about Dorney, things like the clientele are absolutely terrible and there are poor ride operations. It is, however, a Cedar Fair property, so I didn't really believe those reviews when I first read them. I'm glad that has been cleared up, I probably will end up going to Dorney after hearing all that. In addition to that, it's only an hour away, whereas SFGAdv and Hershey are twice as far. -
Pennsyvania Trip Questions
Aceattack52 replied to LoneRider92's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am actually in a similar situation. I have grandparents that live near Stroudsburg (it's actually closer to Brodheadsville) and I'm going up there for a few weeks in the summer. I would like to go to either Dorney Park, Hershey, or SFGAdv. Hershey and Six Flags are both 2 hours away, so that has to factor in and Dorney is 1 hour away. I really don't want to detract from LoneRider's thread, but is there any additional advice anyone could offer for me? -

The last 3 days (4/5/2013-4/7/2013), the WindSeeker at Carownds was also ceasing to function. At times, they would raise the carriage and let it sit at the top for an hour or so, then allow it to come back down. They never had it rotate. -
Amusement Ride Breakdown!

This instance also seems like it is another case of your train being dispatched fast and the train ahead of the one you were riding on didn't clear the block in time. -

Amusement Ride Breakdown!
Aceattack52 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just now I had an odd breakdown on Intimidator at Carowinds- the ride shut down and all three trains stacked, then they told us to wait 10 minutes. Then a ride op was sent out to talk to everyone on the break run. Then they unloaded all three trains and sent each one once with no passengers. At no point did any mechanics enter the station and no one did anything during the downtime. -

^ Yeah, I don't understand why people go absolutely crazy like that when something goes a little different, like the train going up the lift has to slow down (not even stop) to let the train ahead of it clear the block. -
^^ You'll have to check the SFOG schedual, but I think it's 10 minutes before everyone else on a normal day, and I think the ERT starts at 9 or something like that. The ERT time may change depending on the day, rides open, ect. I think that if you get in 10 minutes early, you may not be able to ride much becuse they may still be testing everything at that point, but you will be able to get there and be at the front of the line as soon as they do finish testing.
