  1. Memorial Day weekend seems the most likely. School will be out for summer the week before Memorial Day Weekend, so that is actually the summer.
  2. Oh god this is going to be a freaking disaster... Yep. I was right. You are correct, sir. Ohhhhh. Just because it's blue doesn't mean it's Blue Streak. You, my friend, are not a coaster geek. Yes! We must always make sure the "wheel proximity" is correct!
  3. Hey what will the crowds be like from April 5th-7th at Carowinds? That's a Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  4. It looks pretty nice with the colors and all. When looking at the pictures, this particular element struck me. (The turn coming out of the barrel roll, slight dive and then into the Immelmann). It looks very interesting and would probably be a lot of fun to ride.
  5. ^ They CAN'T pull off good tasting healthy food BECAUSE they have to appeal to a broad audience.
  6. ^ Saturdays and Sundays are usually pretty bad. I think the Friday in question looks really good. That Friday is a school day, so I would expect a low turn out. If you do go, report back to us and let everyone know how crowded it was and what the latest happenings were.
  7. This is a VERY nice collect you have going on here. It's also very nice for you to share it all with us; I am very interested in vintage SFOG anything.
  8. This is actually very true. I have seen many park employees at Six Flags parks that just don't care about anything.
  9. This got me thinking about Mindbender at SFOG. It's been around for so long now. (Since 1978) It is still a great ride and always has been, but you said that all coasters have lifespans. When will Mindbender's usable lifetime end?
  10. Those things look absolutely amazing. I was noticing the wheels as well; why are the road wheels so large and why does the whole wheel assemble look so awkward? It looks like the wheels are just attached to the train and aren't integrated like all other B&M trains.
  11. You know, the Zero-G rolls are very nice, but I had such a nice experience with the cobra roll on the Hulk. I also noticed "top hat" was on there. Were you referring to a Mr. Freeze type inverted top hat?
  12. Wow this was a tough one. On one hand, you have B&M. They have really put themselves out there and produced quite a few more coasters than Intamin has. That doesn't mean they produce better coasters, it just shows they have more experience. One of the things holding B&M back is that it seems like they really don't want to expand and take on new ideas as fast as Intamin does. B&M just broke 300 feet, when Intamin has been way ahead of them for years in the height category. It seems like B&M wants to stick to their comfort zone, creating great hypers and sit-downs, under about 250 feet tall. (I haven't forgotten Leviathan, don't worry.) Both companies have outstanding layouts and smoothness during the entire ride, so I feel like it really does just come down to innovation. Intamin seems more capable of expanding and taking on creative, sometimes seemingly outlandish ideas. To become the best, you have to take some risk. B&M seems like they don't want to take any risk, they only want to stick with what they've been doing for years. That's why I voted Intamin.
  13. I'd like to see what the numbers are like on Outlaw Run. That ride had me out of my seat for what seemed like most of the ride. And there was the weird sideways airtime on the 90 degree turn after passing through the lift hill supports. OH YES! No doubt Outlaw Run is going to be up there. If you get a chance to ride it again, get an accelerometer app for your phone. You can turn the app on when you are about to get on, and let it run the whole ride with the phone in your pocket and that will tell you during which portions of the ride you experienced airtime. It's pretty cool collecting your own airtime data!
  14. I would say that any coaster that has a change in direction during the ride will have a substantial amount of airtime that occurs over an extend period of time. (Airtime is experienced for 8 seconds at a time) Examples of coasters like this would include any Schwarzkopf shuttle loop, Superman at SFMM, and Mr. Freeze. Currently, the wooden coaster with the highest recorded number of seconds in which riders experience fewer than 1Gs is Voyage. Riders experience 24.3 seconds of airtime. The steel coaster that has the highest number of seconds in which riders experience fewer than 1Gs is Diamondback. Riders experience 30 seconds of airtime.
  15. It sounds like TOO much fun. For that reason only I don't think I'll be able to attend.
  16. SFOG on Easter. Then Carowinds for the next three days...
  17. Opening a new topic to ask this probably won't help you. We already have a thread for discussing SFOG matters. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18656 If you post this there, someone will respond for sure.
  18. I read somewhere that its usually a 4 hour wait. Does anyone know of that was accurate?
  19. Hey why don't we have a SkyScreamer or WindSeeker thread, like the Outlaw Run or Iron Rattler and the Gate Keeper and YOLOcoaster.
  20. from the Outlaw Run video, it seems like it was more thrilling than Iron Rattler. Plus, Outlaw Run is ALL Rocky Mountain, so that could be good. My thinking behind that is that RMC produces really nice quality products when it comes to the topper track, and the rails are only part of a coaster, so if the whole coaster is RMC.....
  21. Those trains with the single position lap bars are actually pretty dangerous. I feel like I could stand up and get out when the lap bar is locked (I'm not going to, of course). The lap bar stops at the top of my chest, when I was a little younger it was almost to my chin. I do like the 3 benches per train, though.
  22. I voted YOLOcoaster because it seems like a more interesting ride experience. I prefer a launch over a chain lift any day, and YOLOcoaster has 3. Cedar Point is a better park with all things considered, although I think SFMM has them beat in this one instance.
  23. It looks pretty good. Since there aren't really any other water parks in the area, it's only competition would be SFWW. It does get pretty hot down here during the summer months, I would expect it to be successful.
