Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
CPmillenia94 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Do you guys think that if the entire track of voyage was replaced with topper track it would be number one again? -
Am I the only one that found sfa to be a decent park? Maybe I just caught it on a good year.. (this past year) And superman was not sluggish it was close to El Toro violent for me.. I've been on i305 and I found it to be comparable in airtime pacing and force intensity. Much more intense than bizarro especially the pacing on those last three hills.
-
El Toro was hardly in my top ten when I first rode it a few years ago. The past couple years something changed I don't know what but this year I thought I was going to die riding that thing.. Even the final hills what I remembered having no airtime had awesome lats and air. The only downside is that it definitely rides a bit more rough simply because it's so violent.. Boulder dash was running very very rough this year. It dropped down a couple spots for me. Wooden warrior is in my top ten I'm not sure why it's so low on the list relatively..

Worst ride "neuters"
CPmillenia94 replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thats not a neuter though. That's just the ride running on a cold day. That happens to just about every coaster. I agree that this ride is a shadow of it's former self but I can't pinpoint a reason why which is why I didn't mention it. I used to have this as my #1 coaster but it's down around #15 now. It's slower, it rattles and the lapbars are really uncomfortable but there's no one thing that diminished the ride experience. It's still fun but nothing like it was. Just everything about the trains ruin the ride.. They don't track well (sluggish and heavy) and the lap bars and headrests ruin every sense of freedom. I prefer superman at sfa.. -
Worst ride "neuters"
CPmillenia94 replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^that and the trim brakes mid ride. Still a very decent coaster though.. -
the ties have consistent and close spacing on every vekoma, whereas they are a bit more random and sparse in places on arrow coasters. Vekoma- (dense ties on both coasters with consistent spacing) Arrow- (notice the turn after the corkscrew and the track coming out of the ground, where the ties are sparse)

What is the best floorless?
CPmillenia94 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I TOTALLY AGREE. Very forceful in both directions in those back rows. It almost rode like an intamin the way it is so unique and forceful. Can someone explain why they dislike the ride? I did notice the rattle last time I rode, that's all I can think of.. -

Unique Coaster Elements
CPmillenia94 replied to OrientExpressForever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was going to put this one in, but they also have another pretty cool element a little bit later in the ride (right after you go through the building). This is actually the same basic thing as Apollo's chariots turnaround. At uinverting loop is pretty unique in every way though.. Always awesome disorienting airtime on that.. -

I also like that noise. Many B&Ms do it, some louder than others, though. Gatekeeper was the loudest one I rode. I found it funny that when I was riding Dragon Khan, which also makes some noise (although less than Gatekeeper) when entering the station, that the ride ops would clap along with the "clang" sound. I nearly found myself clapping too. Is it this sound? I used to think only apollos chariot made that sound but apparently nitro does too. -
Photo TR: Coastin' Coast to Coast
CPmillenia94 replied to azza29's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Batman has been running exceptionally this year! No rattle, little to no trim, and the lift hill has been sped up. I figure they speed everything up for capacity.. More B&Ms should be run this way, Everyone wins! -
What is going on with La Qua?
CPmillenia94 replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^Wow I did not know that! Is this is a result of the Fujin Raijin incident awhile back? Didn't that spark a mass investigation that discovered how unsafe and poorly maintained many parks and rides were? -

I was being totally sarcastic, this is just getting really weird. -

I mean this isn't the smiler or anything.. The nets are definitely a bit of an overcompensation in my opinion. -

^I've always thought Montu was more of a female.. -
Definitely agree about Nitro. Don't hate it, but it had quite a rattle when I rode it a few weeks ago, and the floater airtime isn't as good as, say, Apollo's Chariot. I did notice the rattle in the back rows, which is something new, but after riding both coasters multiple times this summer I can safely say that the airtime and pacing on nitro are noticeably more intense than Apollo chariot. The second camelback has the strongest airtime I have ever experienced on a B&M.

Most Intense Rides You've Been On

^Second that. The gs St the base of the spire on freeze especially. They are crushing and almost painful after a few rides.. -

I think the main pointhhe is trying to make is that it inhibits forces from shifting us around and making us feel less secure, the most obvious being it's restrictions on airtime. -

^Agreed. I dont know what B&M was thinking when they designed those trains..
