  1. That helix looks as though it might have a few nice headchoppers in it.
  2. Won't happen. You have the entire Soak City parking lot and Lighthouse Point separating the two locations.
  3. Replacing the Antique Cars at Kings Island, despite only one side being used, for Italian Job/Backlot Stunt Coaster. It also cost the park their Bisch-Rocco Flying Scooters (moved to Carowinds). While they are getting new Flying Scooters this year they aren't like the original. Removing Looney Tunes National Park at SFGAm for the relocated go-carts - a very bad move IMO though rescuing the Little Dipper was a great move.
  4. Wonderful photos despite the dark and menacing clouds in the distance. I absolutely love the photo of RF II's 90 degree turn from the lift hill. Thank you for posting the photos.
  5. If anything they need to stay away from anything "Beast" for future attractions. Let Papa Beast, which I affectionately called the Beast during the Son's short reign, be it. The area where Dinosaur's Alive is would be a nice area for the next big coaster. I don't think WIndseeker is a big enough draw at the back of Coney Mall.
  6. I can see how a Dive Coaster would not be that marketable when Dragster basically does the same thing from 420 feet, and includes a twist but there's no denying B&M's Dive Coasters are a real people eater, which is something CP needs. Despite its short length I love Griffon.
  7. What I find surprising is that for a company that has the largest variety of coasters available there haven't been many of rides sold like their spinning coaster and suspended looping coaster at Sarkanniemi, which I would love to try.
  8. Plus the Charlotte area doesn't get the same kind of weather we get up north with all the snow and single temps/below zero wind chills. I'm very impressed with how Fury 325 is turning out.
  9. Well...it's something but not impressed. At least it will fill in the remains of a former ride. I'm surprised Larson hasn't tried to do an inverted Super Loop with face to face seating like the Invertigos.
  10. Larry, since both Darien Lake and MFI are relatively close to each other would it be possible to have a combined thread to cover both parks, especially since MFI has seen a lot more activity these past few years compared to Darien?
  11. Not sure what kind of condition El Dorado is in since Kings Dominion only had it for a few short years before removing it. That makes me think it might have become a maintenance nightmare. It would be a cool ride to have, especially with the views you'd get when the vehicle is stopped at the top. I'm not expecting anything for next season, especially with a recent change in management. I would like to be proven wrong though.
  12. The turnaround is looking awesome!
  13. No, they were taken out for the boomerang.
  14. And look at how small that loop was after that big drop. It's no wonder the ride was very uncomfortable and I'm glad I missed out on riding it. The same could be said of SFGAm's Shock Wave and SFGAdv's Scream Machine. I, personally, would not want to see inversions on giga coasters though the idea of taking Gatekeeper's twist and dive first hill and raise it 325 feet would be somewhat interesting for a conventional sit down coaster instead of a wing coaster.
  15. Thank you so much for the ongoing construction photos. I love the shot from the parking lot of Tempesto and Apollo's lift as it gives a great sense of size with the rides being side by side. A train going up Apollo's lift while the train on Tempesto zooms on by will make the rides appear to be dueling.
  16. In Cleveland, when you exit I-90 west at W. 98th/West Blvd. there is a slight hump as you cross over the W.98th St. intersection, that given at the right speed, produces a nice pop of air time. I used to do it a lot when I had friends in the back seat, who were the big benefactors of that airtime.
  17. I don't think kids identify with the Looney Tunes characters as much as I don't identify with some of the crap cartoons out there today though I could swear I've seen newer LT cartoons a few years ago, which sucked, as they did not live up the legacy of the WB originals. I remember my very first visit to SFGAm back in 1998 they were showing LT cartoons on the queue TVs. Is Six Flags still doing that today? It's sort of the same situation when Paramount owned parks. Kings Island, for example, had rides based on Rugrats, Wild Thornberry's, and Jimmy Neutron, which were long gone from the Nickelodeon network by the time CF bought the parks.
  18. I really enjoyed viewing your Circus World brochures. Pretty sad that it and it's later incarnation as Boardwalk and Baseball didn't pan out in the end. I wonder what the feasibility studies said the park would draw prior to opening. Since it looks like it was just south of WDW there was really no reason for anyone to venture beyond the mouse. Hope you have something with the infamous Weiner Looping when it was at Circus World. That ride really intrigued me back in the day.
  19. Waldameer, who's slogan should be "Here we grow again." Whereabouts was that photo taken? Is that next to or behind Rainbow Gardens? Two ideas for a future coaster - A Euro-fighter with lap bars since there isn't one in this part of the country plus it would be nice to have a coaster with a few inversions or a Chance Hyper GT-X since I'm sure Lightning Run must have drawn some interest from the park.
  20. I didn't know the Cedars dorms were that big. I only thought it was the buildings fronting Peninsula Dr.
  21. Looks as though the turnaround will be done by the end of the weekend at the pace they are going now. With every coaster project I'm amazed at just how fast they go up. I also like how the green sort of fades in and fades out on the that turn over what will be the new entrance path.
  22. They should rename Cannibal to Wicked since the first drop and huge Immelman live up to the name.
  23. The colors look okay only because it's at sunset - the darker orange looks better but I still can see it stick out like a sore thumb when the sun is at its peak.
  24. The location Dinosaurs Alive is in is perfect for a Maverick-style terrain coaster since it has changes in elevation. If it should ever happen they need to keep as many trees intact as possible like how they did the Beast. Don't know how connecting to X Base would work since the only way I see it is too close to the service road alongside Racer you have to cross to get over to DA.
  25. I used to be the same way. When I was a teen I really took a lot of interest in this hobby and would read about all the newest rides each year. I cut back on my enthusiasm as I realized how bored those I talked to would look. Now I wait for them to bring up the topic.
