  1. I spent two days at Hersheypark ten years ago and fell in love with the park. It's my second favorite park behind BGW. Storm Runner and Lightning Racer are my favorites. I'm long overdue a return trip.
  2. As of yesterday we are on the cusp of seeing the tenth wettest June on record. Fox 8 always shows a Cedar Point webcam during the 5 and 6 PM weather segments and the park hasn't seem too crowded lately.
  3. Good to hear the park is getting a new lease on life. I wonder if the drop tower accident plus the licensing is what got them in financial trouble in the first place. I wonder if the new owners got rid of the licensing.
  4. I would welcome that change though it would have to fit in with International Street and not the newer entrances now found at CP and Carowinds. It also would mean the removal of the former International Restaurant above the gate, which I wish CF would reconsider reopening as a restaurant if a main gate renovation is not in the plans for awhile. I bet the view of I-Street is awesome from up there.
  5. What a charming park! Is this one of those parks where you have to be accompanied by a child to enter since it seems a lot of it is geared towards the younger guests?
  6. Sling Shot does need a paint job. I kind of hate how it blocks the view of Banshee from the Eiffel Tower and I would much rather see it get moved to where the old Flight Commander used to be once Dinosaurs Alive has run its course.
  7. Congrats on the weight loss! Enjoyed reading your review so far and look forward to reading the rest after you conquered the rest of the park. I thought I was the only one that liked Vortex's layout but, like you, could do without the stand-up trains.
  8. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that this time around they have learned their lesson from what they did in the late 90's/early 00's.
  9. ^^Not a bad idea - something small along the lines of Dorney's Hydra or SFNE's Batman Dark Knight though being a B&M how long would it take for Darien Lake to see an ROI? ^This Premier Parks is not the same company that became Six Flags and maybe we'll see a totally different park than what it was under the old Premier Parks.
  10. Cedar Fair: 1. Not giving Geauga Lake a proper farewell in 2007. It would have been nice to let people know about it ahead of time to say their last goodbyes. After all the park was around for 119 years. 2. I still think closing Thunder Road is a bad idea. With Fury 325 as the new anchor attraction Hurler should be closed and replaced with a long needed log flume. 3. I found out on Facebook that Cedar Fair is selling selfie sticks in the parks - what the heck were they thinking?
  11. Did you ever ride Space Spiral in its final years? You could hardly see out of the windows they were badly scratched up and the fact that the cabin didn't have any air conditioning made for a very uncomfortable ride on hot days. I miss the ride but given the shape it was in those last years it was the right thing to do (plus the implosion was very cool). They also built a water ride - Shoot The Rapids - so it's not like they didn't forget to replace White Water Landing.
  12. I was always under the impression that Possessed (then Steel Venom) had the stronger launch than Wicked Twister, thus the reason why Steel Venom actually would approach the top the spikes whereas Wicked Twister does not. The back seat was always my favorite as I loved the pure freefalling feeling of the straight spike though watching the plunger get closer as you sit in the front is a pretty awesome experience as well.
  13. Where do you get 20 new rides or are you confusing this with the "War on Lines" at Six Flags Great Adventure in 1999 where all those flats they added were eventually moved to other parks?
  14. What a great finale to your trip despite you getting injured on that last day. If you think Millennium Force is great at night you'd have to check it out during Halloweekends when the Frontier Trail becomes a fright zone and if there's little wind, the fog they pump into it completely envelopes the lower parts of the ride and it's amazing. Also Maverick at night is phenomenal.
  15. Another great installment to your trip report. I enjoy reading first timer's visit to my home park and their reviews of the coasters. I, too, prefer Possessed (actually when it used to be Superman Ultimate Escape/Steel Venom when it was here at SFWoA/Geauga Lake as I also prefer the straight spike with the holding brake), and I wonder are the seat belts not as restrictive at Dorney as they are on Wicked Twister? When I rode V2 at SFGAm back in 2012 I had no problem with the restraints and seat belts. I almost couldn't fit on WT.
  16. I'm not sure whether or not I can see them getting one, but if they do then the old Ragin Cajun area would be perfect. Right now that area is basically unoccupied, but I don't know how much space JLBFM requires. The space that Dark Knight is in would have been ideal for a JLBFM. For some reason I could see a clone of Batman at Fiesta Texas in the Ragin' Cajun site.
  17. Thanks so much for your review. I am very impressed with how the ride turned out and your pictures are excellent. I hope that I'll get to come back to SFStL and ride it someday.
  18. I was looking at the park in Google Maps and in street view during my lunch break today. I know there used to be an entrance where Steelhawk is. Any idea as to why the Americana gate was removed and Scandinavia's was kept? I understand the parking lot is a little closer to Scandinavia but it also looks like it's still a nice little walk to get there (even though you had a decent view of Orient Express back in the day).
  19. Enjoying the report so far. You had me laughing in the way you emphasized THAT DOUBLE DROP on Jack Rabbit. I absolutely love that ride even if it doesn't do much. You'll definitely have to go back for Black Widow and Ghostwood Estate. Just like you riding the Bayern Kurve immediately takes me back to when I was kid riding it at Cedar Point. Looking forward to reading your visit to America's Roller Coast.
  20. I have yet to visit Florida and this looks like something that will surely get me down there. Better start saving for a two week trip next year.
  21. The Beast really dominates the skyline where it's at. I like the button they gave you. KMG's restraints are not forgiving since they aren't shaped to fit the body well. Last year I rode the Freak Out at the IX Indoor park they have here every spring and the attendant had to really push down on the restraint to get the green light - and while I am a bit overweight I'm not a big guy,
  22. Thanks for the explanation. I was always under the assumption that the Kansas City metro was on par with the likes of Minneapolis (not including St. Paul) or Charlotte. Since making Worlds of Fun more of a regional destination will not happen it would be nice to see them take the route that Kings Dominion took by at least bringing back some of the small things that the old CF regime took out and restore the park back to its original "Around The World in 80 Days" theme. Also any idea as to how well the Worlds of Fun Village does for the park?
  23. I wonder why CF doesn't invest more into Worlds of Fun like they have done with Carowinds and eventually Valleyfair, IIRC the two parks they singled out for having more growth potential? I'm not saying let's put in a giga coaster but considering that WoF has a larger range to draw from (IMO, figuring that there is no major park between KC and Denver though Adventureland looks to be a few hours north and not quite in the same league so to speak) that they would try to make WoF more of a destination than it already is. I've only been to Worlds of Fun once, that was way back in 1989 when Timber Wolf was new, and thought the park was very nice. ^^BTW, that looks normal. I've seen KI's Windseeker parked at the top like that as well. Usually early morning tests have the ride carriage at the top.
  24. Kings Island used to have a set of speed slides - Fastracks - that the mat racer replaced. The tallest one used to scare me every time.
  25. NOOO!! They got the wrong coaster - Hurler is supposed to go, not Thunder Road. What a waste after rebuilding it a few years ago. There's enough space on the other side of the ride to build new attractions without ripping out Thunder Road. So is this the end of County Fair? With a major ride being removed could that area be included in what will be "Soak City"? Afterburn is just outside of County Fair and Southern Star wouldn't need to be relocated.
