  1. Arrow definately used different loop sizes. Look at the picture of Orient Express below. As you can see, the loops were very small. If you compare to the picture of Viper above you can see that the rear car is in about the same position, but the front car has made it further through the loop. http://rcdb.com/21.htm?p=2804
  2. I had a funny dream last night. I was in a football (soccer) stadium to watch my team, being in the stand behind the goal. The stand to the right was closed due to it being reconstructed. The seats were removed, but the rest of the stand was still there. Through a hole in the stand came the track of Nemesis(!!!!) and I could also see some parts of the ride behind the stand. BTW the only similarities it had to the real Nemesis was that it was a small B&M invert with grey track. I asked the guy standing next to me if Nemesis was open. He said it was and I said "Good, because last time I was here only Colossus and Nemesis Inferno was open". Of course this meant that the only logic conclusion was that I had to ride Nemesis, Air and Spinball Whizzer to have ridden all the coasters in this park. Suddenly I was getting ready to board a dark ride along with the same guy. Funny thing is that the ride vehicles were pallet jacks that you stood on and held on to the handle. So we got on one each and rolled through the first room and up a narrow staircase(!!!) before the dream ended.
  3. I remember riding a Rock-o-Plane at a fair some years ago. That thing was crazy fast and absolute nuts. Being upside down at the bottom of the ride with nothing but a thin steel lap bar to hold you in your seat gives some insane hangtime. One of my favorite non-coaster rides are the S&S Sky Swatters. I have been on both of them and I think they are really good rides, and gives a very unique experience.
  4. Pleasant: Twister @ Gröna Lund. I knew it was going to be fun, but I had no idea such a small coaster could pack such a wild and intense ride. Looping Star @ Vidampark (now operating as Gwazi @ Lion Park Resort). Super smooth, fun, intense and the last turn into the brake run gives a good surprise. Megablitz @ Wiener Prater. Who would have thought that a Vekoma from 94 would be butter smooth?? And those helixes are pulling some serious G-forces! Polar X-plorer @ Legoland Billund. This ride is surprisingly forcefull up to the the drop-section. The drop-section was surprising the first time, but I cant help but think that if they had not used it and made the ride longer instead it would have been a really good ride. Unpleasant: Bizarro @ SFNE (rode it as SROS). A great ride, but did not live up to the hype. Piraten @ Djurs Sommarland: Having heard nothing but great reviews of this ride from the enthusiast community, I came to this ride with high expectations. Unfortunately I had to agree with my non-coaster enthusiast friend who had ridden it before me who said that it was a fun ride, but he could not understand how it could be a top-10 coaster. Colossus @ Thorpe Park. Rode it once in 2005, no ride has ever given me such a bad headache. In case I sound like an Intaminhater, let me just point out that El Toro @ SFGADV is my favorite coaster ever!!!
  5. I once made a working KMG Move-It 24 style ride in ProEngineer. It was not detailed at all, just block shapes as my main focus was making it work. I had a lot of fun though.
  6. Should be a good addition to the park. It will also be nice to have another ride next to Supersplash as its quite a walk for just one ride.
  7. This was a lot easier before when I had not been on so many rollercoasters... 1. El Toro @ SFGADV 2. Storm Runner @ Hershey park 3. Nitro @ SFGADV 4. Boulder Dash @ Lake Compounce 5. Katun @ Mirabilandia 6. Superman Ride of Steel @ SFNE 7. Phoenix @ Knoebels 8. Thunderbird @ Powerpark 9. Insane @ Gröna Lund 10. Lisebergbanan @ Liseberg
  8. Hole crap this looks amazing! But the steel bar on the right track looks like it will hit the wheels, someone quickly call the engineers!!!
  9. I love the first element on the Vekoma flyer. Like a mix between the pretzel loop found on B&M flyers and the Wingrider style drop.
  10. According to the norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, this happened on the ride called Knotts Berry Farm in the amusement park named Buena Park in California. http://www.dagbladet.no/2012/09/20/nyheter/dbtv/fornoyelsespark/karusell/stans/23501844/
  11. Heres some "recent" ones of me. Hiking in the mountains surrounding my city by myself on a sunny spring afternoon.
  12. Very interesting trip report, thanks for sharing! This must be the first time Ive seen pictures of my hometown (Bergen) on TPR. Not surprised about the rain though, we are famous for it... And yes, Norway is expensive. I'm going home to Bergen tomorrow after spending two weeks in Denmark and the price difference is just ridiculous. I'm not looking forward to going to the store or fill up the tank on my car when I get back home as its going to feel super-expensive! I feel my Visa card is going to cry... I also agree with you about Balder. Its a fun ride but its very controlled. My favorite part is the first drop in the backseat, which feels quite wild, particularly in the evening when it seems to be going faster for each ride. But the overall ride does not live up to the hype for me. Considering the small footprint I don't really think the park could have done any better, but as for the rankings I don't agree. But its still a ride I enjoy a lot.
  13. I love the look of the batwing element on Montu.
  14. I spent a weekend at Tusenfryd in April 2006 with light rain the entire weekend. Speedmonster had just opened and was the reason for my visit, but Thundercoaster completely stole the show. It was absolutely flying!! Still one of my best coaster experiences of all time.
  15. Intamin: Colossus @ Thorpe Park. No other ride has made my ears hurt as much as this ride did. GCI: Wildcat @ Hersheypark. Found it to be quite rough and the layout was not particular exciting. B&M: Superman Ultimate Flight. Such an uninspiring layout...
  16. On April 30th Norwegian swimmer Alexander Dale Oen was found dead in the hotel bathroom during a training camp in Arizona, after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. He won silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke final in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and he won the 100-meter breaststroke final in the 2011 World Championship in Shanghai. He was our best hope for medals in the upcoming 2012 Olympics in London and he was really looking forward to it. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2012/05/01/20120501flagstaff-swimming-world-champ-dale-oen-dies-training-camp.html Very sad and shocking to see a young athlete, as well as a great guy, suddenly be gone just like that. Makes you wonder how much stress being a top athlete puts on the human body...
  17. On Tusenfryds facebook page they like to post links to pictures and videos of coasters around the world. Today they posted a link to a video of TTD and in their post they asked which on is best of TTD and Kingda Ka. The third comment was:
  18. Yep. Its also the first new B&M inverted coaster to be built since Phaethon opened in 2007.
  19. Around the age of 6 I got hit in the face by a shovel right below the left eye. No serious damage, just needed a few stitches, but damn close to taking my eye out. When I was 10 I ran out in front of a truck. Fortunately it wasnt travelling very fast, but it still sent me flying. I broke my left wrist and got a cut in my forehead from the initial impact, and I also had to get stitches in the back of my head from hitting the asphalt. In addition I got a concussion and my back was all scrated up. To look on the bright side I spent a week home from school and I have never gotten so much candy in my entire life. Around the age of 16 my jaw got dislocated during a visit to the dentist. Funny thing was that I did not feel it happen, but when the dentist was finished I could not close my mouth. It didnt hurt at all, but it was very unpleasant and scary feeling. And he had a heck of time trying to get in back in place. Didnt open my mouth for the rest of the day. The dentist was "famous" for being rough by lots of people in my local area. To put it simple, I never went back. As an adult I have never experienced anything which I would call an injury...
  20. Heres a video I made about a year ago of our two cats Maya and Inka. Particulary Maya is extremely social and is always around. And Inka is just the kindest cat Ive ever met, she will never touch you with her claws out.
  21. I dont believe in ghosts. Why would a ghost think "Hmmm what should I do today? Oh I know, I will move this glass three feet and then I will be quiet for another week while planning my next move..."?? I certainly believe there are things we dont understand, but not in ghosts or spirit. However, I must admit that even though I dont believe I would probably still crap my pants if I was alone on in a dark house and started hearing strange noises... The closest thing I have come close to what can be called a strange experience happened at a place where I worked some years ago. I came to work on a monday around 3 pm for the evening shift and one of the first things that happened was that an air hose in a CNC milling machine split open for about an inch. We made a temporarily fix and everything was working fine. Then two days later I come to work and walk against the machine (which was already running) along with a colleague and I say to him "Oh look, our temporary fix is still worki...." PFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!and the air hose blew open again. It had been working for 48 hours until I opened my mouth. While this doesnt really have anything to do with ghosts or spirits, I obviously have superpowers!
  22. I belive much of the B&M rattle comes down to train maintenance. When I roda Katun in 2005 they were running two trains. One was rattling quite a lot, while the other gave a very smooth ride. There was actually a huge difference in ride experience.
  23. Dont really know many comedians, but I think Michael McIntyre is brilliant!
  24. I currently have this lovely picture of Brann Stadion during a late evening match. Only two weeks until footyseason starts in Norway. Ive had a season ticket behind the goal to the right since the 2007 season. Cant wait!
  25. Me and some friends are renting a house in Denmark for two weeks next year. Amusement parks will not be in focus since Im the only coaster enthusiast on, but we will definately visit the following parks. Djurs Sommarland (very close to where were staying) Legoland We are also planning a day in Copenhagen so perhaps I will leave the group for an hour or two in Tivoli Gardens.
