Talking about sandbags, I'm fairly sure I remember seeing a video of Colossos @ Heide Park testing with sandbags and one of them comes flying off on the final stretch of airtime hills. -
TPR and Theme Park Artwork

DynaMine looks awesome, love the layout and I actually feel that its something which could work in real life. Makes me want to fire up NL2 and start working on a heavily themed Gerstlauer. -
Worst Coaster Layout
viking86 replied to SingleRiderCam's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think this ride should classify as a roller coaster. It doesn't even have a hill ! Put it flat on the ground and it would be considered a kiddie train attraction. Hey, I have been on that thing. Dont underestimate the laterals through those turns! I would list the two RCCA woodies in Spain; Coaster Express and Magnus Colossus. Two large wooden rollercoasters and all they do is roll around long turns and shallow hills. Particularly Magnus Colossus is in an amazing location, but the layout barely makes any advantage of it. -
Surely Furious Baco is the fastest one??!! There are many fast inversions out there, but I'm struggling to see anyone which has that kind of speed at the point where the riders are upside down.

Of the coasters that I have ridden in the top 30 the list is very close to how I rank the coasters. For me personally Balders gets a bit more competition from Thunderbird, but that is based on my 2007 rides when the ride was only a season old. But the top three is spot-on! 1 El Toro 4 Boulder Dash 5 Phoenix 8 Balder 17 Twister 24 Thunderbird And of course its great to see the two worst wooden coasters I have ridden towards the very bottom of the list. 170 Magnus Colossus 174 Coaster-Express

This looks amazing, cant wait to visit Liseberg in the spring! I really love the combination of elements after the first launch: "Corkscrew - tight turn - twisting airtime hill - dropping turn down the hillside". -

That train looks amazing, and the theme fits perfectly to a rollercoaster! Apparently the train will have sound and smoke effects to match the car in the movie, as can be seen in the video clip below. Sounds awesome! One of the greatest films of all time in Norwegian film industry... [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

So a Vekoma coaster are having its Vekoma trains replaced with Arrow trains? Now that is interesting indeed! -
I think its cool that there are more "quality family coasters" being built. I enjoyed Kvasten when it opened, and it was awesome to see all the kids coming off the ride with huge grins on their faces and the first thing they did was to run straight back in line. I have no doubt that both kids and adults will enjoy this just as much.

Three closest parks near you
viking86 replied to mike541x's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1) Kongeparken (122 miles - 4,5 hours due to 2 ferry crossings) 2) Lilleputthammer (267 miles - 6,1 hours) 3) Tusenfryd (295 miles - 6,5 hours) 4) Liseberg (484 miles - 10 hours) Tusenfryd is the closest park with large rollercoasters. And as you might understand from the driving times listed, roads in Norway are not exactly built for speed... -
What was your favorite ride of 2013?
viking86 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Only visited Tusenfryd and Liseberg last year so no new credits for me. However I had the great pleasure of riding Spinspider at Tusenfryd for the first time. This is a giant frisbee from Zamperla (the model is called "Giant Discovery"). As I have only ridden smaller versions before I was actually a bit nervous while standing in line, and that is a feeling that I have not experienced on any ride in a very long time. To me this added to the experience, and for the ride itself I loved it! -
Bergen, Norway, recently voted second most beatiful city in Europe by USA Today. More pictures: http://ds-lands.com/bergen.html

I feel it depends a lot on where the camera is positioned. If the view from the camera is close to the view from the riders eyes, I think it gives a better impression of the ride experience compared to, lets say, if the camera is mounted close to the track. I also agree with the poster above me that POVs from the backseat seems to give a better impression on ride experience.

Kingda Ka has this ability as well. I believe the PLC button for it says "Launch Boost Enable" I'd love to ride either one with that turned on! You'd get some nice air on the top hat! I believe they used it on KK for TPR once, as seen in this video: Maybe Robb or members that were riding when this pov was filmed can confirm? ^I'm fairly sure I have seen a video of Xcelerator testing in super-fast mode as well, where it flies over the tophat with insane speed. Anyone still have that video?? -
Definately wouldnt mind a theme park here on the west coast, the proposed location is only a couple of hours away. I wouldnt expect too much in the thrill department, but that is not always neccessary to have a good experience. It will definately be interesting to follow this, we are not exactly spoiled with parks in this country.

I see several of the notes on the trees says "top branches", it looks like Liseberg will try to remove as little of the trees as possible, which I think is really cool and should make it an even better ride. Definately making the trip to Gothenburg next year. -
Anaconda @ Kings Dominion only has a small dip and a short straight section between the station and the lift hill. http://rcdb.com/92.htm?p=32875
