Gröna Lund Discussion Thread

I was very impressed with Twister. For such a small coaster it feels really fast and it keeps up the pace all the way to the brakerun. I was also very surprised by how long the ride is. -
Liseberg Discussion Thread

I had the pleasure of riding Atmosfear on saturday and it truly is a spectacular ride. The view from the top is unlike anything Ive ever experienced, and the drop seems to last forever. I have uploaded an offride-video to youtube, including a nerd shot of the second ring being collected by the catch car on the way up. -
B&M vs Intamin
viking86 replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Favorite wooden coaster: El Toro @ SFGADV Favorite steel coaster: Storm Runner @ Hershey Most insane coaster moment: Insane @ Gröna Lund Favorite non-coaster ride: Atmosfear @ Liseberg I think my answer is quite obvious.... -
I spent the rapture at Liseberg. It would be cool to see a totally spectacular 2012-style doomsday from the top of Atmosfear, but the drop was not a bad option.

I believe all Mack watercoasters does this. It creates a nice effect when riding. -

This looks great! I'll be going to Gröna Lund in just a month, looking forward to ride it. Also Insane is new from my last visit so it should be good day. (Liseberg the next day isnt bad either... ) -

The soccer season has started in Norway so I chose a picture from 2007 when my team, SK Brann, won the league for the first time since 1963. This picture is taken in the city center where atleast 50000 people (theres only 250k living in Bergen) had flooded into the city streets to celebrate. I dont think there was a single emergency flare left in the city as hundreds were lit up during the celebrations. What a year that was! http://www.aftenbladet.no/archive/00190/brann14_jpg_190993a.jpg http://v1.cache5.c.bigcache.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/8728239.jpg?redirect_counter=1 http://www.aftenbladet.no/archive/00191/brann16_jpg_191000a.jpg

Its amazing that you can see four different coasters in that picture! Im going to Gröna Lund in a little more than a month. Starting to get very excited now! -
This morning gas prices was above 14 NOK per liter in Bergen, Norway. According to my calculations this equals to $9.54 per gallon. To fill the 60 liter (15.8 gallons) tank on my car would cost $150.

Im picking up my new car after work tomorrow, a 2005 Toyota Avensis 1.8 liter 129hp. Im uber-excited now, Ive been driving an old 91 BMW 318i for five years now. It will be quite a difference to drive such a new car. It's identical to this:

Anyone else prefer Vekoma SLC's?
viking86 replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I prefer Batman, but like most other coasters Im very relaxed when boarding the train, and I just enjoy the ride. SLC's is one of the few coastertypes where I feel a bit uneasy before riding, and where I find myself shouting (woooowww) during the ride. They do throw you around quite a bit, some more than others, but I am actually yet to come off an SLC in pain. I cant say the same about Intamin *coughColossusatThorpeparkcough* -
Gary Moore passed away while on holiday in Spain. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110206/ap_en_mu/eu_britain_obit_moore This is very sad. I remember his song "Over the hills and far away" being one of my favorite song as a kid, and still is...

Heres another video, with offride footage of the ride. -
Has this ever happened to you?
viking86 replied to dominoes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My friends seatbelt became undone during the ride on Cyclone @ SFNE a few years ago. He didnt notice it until the final brakerun. None of us were surprised though as that ride rattled the hell outta us...
