  1. Great TR! The atmosphere in these classic sea-side park looks really nice. Swamp Fox looks really beautiful.
  2. Nemesis opened in 1994, Anaconda opened in 1999. www.rcdb.com is your best friend
  3. T-bars?? Which ride did you go on? The Atlantis ride at Gardaland has seatbelts only
  4. I havent been to a concert in ages. I think my last concert was Turbonegro about a year ago. Great concert!
  5. ^The first SLC's only had 8 cars per train.
  6. From what I have heard about this ride, its smooth as butter and its so powerful that it makes the B:TR clones seem like kiddie rides.
  7. Terra Mitica is one amazing looking park. The same can be said about Gardaland. With the exception of the area behind Magic Mountain, the Vekoma looper, its one fantastic looking park with great atmosphere.
  8. Usually a few times a year. Closest park worth visiting is Tusenfryd, 'only' 300 miles away
  9. The shape of the piece on the right side of this picture looks alot like Intamin track http://pointpics.com/other/project2007/mProject20070005.JPG
  10. Thats definately true. Its REALLY quiet. You would barely know that it was running if it hadnt been for all the screams.
  11. Looks pretty good, but I would change the wooden fence on the brakerun as it doesnt look very realistic. Your transfer track wouldnt work in real life either.
  12. I saw a documentary a few years ago about the construction of Thundercoaster @ Tusenfryd. Im not sure how they did the turns, but they bent the wood manually by walking on it on the straight parts. Then they nailed the layers together. Btw, this wheel assemblie looks like something Vekoma would make http://omega.ipfw.edu/%7Emarschand/cadd1.jpg
  13. I prefer turns with lateral G-forces as long as the trains are comfortable. Thundercoaster @ Tusenfryd was insane in the rain last weekend with loads of lateral G-forces. I like coasters that feels like they are trying to throw you off. For me, the turns on Balder were too smooth and slow which made them rather dull.
  14. Since people here seems to have this thing about coasters and snow: http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/7576/loopensnow3aa.jpg Yes, that is snow on the ground. No snow can be seen in my Speedmonster pictures, but still... How many of you have ridden an Intamin Rocket coaster while theres still some snow left on the ground? Or what about a Mack Watercoaster? http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/5682/supersplashsnow2tr.jpg
  15. ^Check out http://www.nojespark.net/tusspeedmonstercon/index.php There you can find loads of pictures, layout drawings and simple 3D-renderings. Edit: LOL for a moment I thought I did a double post because our avatars have excactly the same colours...
  16. I just came home from Oslo last night after spending two wet days at Tusenfryd. Speedmonster had a little bit of technical problems towards the end of the day on Sunday, but apart from that it was running all the time. As far as I know it didnt break down once on Saturday. So how was the ride? Well, I think it was pretty damn good. The launch is good, the pretzel loop is very intense and the following turn is really cool because it just keeps going faster and faster and faster. The twisting hills are really cool, although they can be a tad rough in the backseat. The final corkscrew is one of my favorite parts of the ride. It just fits so perfectly, making it the best corkscrew I have ever experienced. Check it this picture taken mid-day at Tusenfryd. The longest line I saw was up to the point where the picture was taken, and that was right after opening. Later in the day it was really short. http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4974/speedmonster3dc.jpg Just a few notes about the picture: 1. Yes, that is the entire queue for Speedmonster! 2. Yes, that is two trains running! 3. Its RAINING! Btw, Thundercoaster was running fantastic in the rain. Its crap when its dry, but once the track gets wet it becomes a completely different ride with insane airtime in the backseat. It may be rough as hell, but it has still easily dethroned Balder as my number one wooden coaster because it was just so much fun (and pain).
  17. I really think we should get a themepark near Bergen in Norway. The closest park is Kongeparken, which is 4-5 hours south from Bergen and its only a family park. Then theres Tusenfryd, which is 300 miles east for Bergen.....
  18. Ah its so great to see more Norwegian members here as there arent excactly many of us
  19. Small trains doesnt loose speed quickly. Less wheels, less friction. Just look at Avalanche @ Timber Falls. That thing is flying through the entire track and its not very big. I agree that it doesnt excactly fly over the top of the pretzel loop, but Im expecting some excellent floater airtime in that place. Maximum number of trains is 2. I sooooooooooooo cant wait to ride it tomorrow!!!
  20. Superman la Attracion de Acero comes to my mind. Sure it has plenty of inversions, but it also has some hills with fantastic floater airtime!
  21. The boats looks fantastic! Should be a nice family ride.
  22. Wild Train @ Erlebnispark Strasswalchen. It has the size of a family coaster, but thats the only 'family friendly' part of this coaster. Crazy laterals, good positive G-forces and ejector airtime way better than what can be found on Balder!!!
  23. Montu and Raptor might be a bit longer than Patriot, but they are pretty much the same size when it comes to height and speed. Stats from RCDB: Patriot: Length: 3081' Height: 149' Drop: 123' Speed: 60 mph Raptor: Length: 3790' Height: 137' Drop: 119' Speed: 57 mph Montu: Length: 3983' Height: 150' Drop: 128' Speed: 60 mph
  24. Balder was a slight letdown for me. I had alot of fun on it, but it felt too controlled. Especially the turns were a bit lame. It is actually the best wooden coaster I have been on, but I refuse to belive that its the best woodie in the world. But as we know, its all about opinions....
