  1. Forgot how much I missed this wonderful place. I love riding the subway around. Of course, Coney Island is always a must for someone like me. Nice pics; looks like you got in a good selection of views and attractions.
  2. ^Yeah, what is up with RCDB?
  3. Yeah, this is pretty awesome. I liked the atmosphere of the park when I visited last year, and things like this will only make it better. No personal connection here; just an increasing appreciation for attention to detail.
  4. Yeah, sad news about Lou Reed. The Velvet Underground is one of my favorite bands, and I'm gradually getting into his solo work as well. To the curious, I'd recommend a greatest hits album first, such as "The Very Best of the Velvet Underground." That one had to grow on me, but now I think it's chock-full of amazing tunes. Their studio albums make it even more clear to me why this can be a difficult band to get into; it can take some time, but it's worth it!
  5. This rendition will be a wish list of sorts, containing only coasters that are currently operating and freely allow grown-ups. I managed to knock out nine of my missed credits this year, mostly in California. Boomerang, La Ronde Dragon, Lakeside Amusement Park Flitzer, Playland's Castaway Cove Roller Coaster, Country Mercantile Runaway Train, Gillian's Wonderland Pier Screamin' Demon, Castle Amusement Park Thunder Road (right), Carowinds Wow, I'm shocked that only 7 made the list, and nothing to make any park visit-worthy for just the credit (though that may not stop me). I do have several new coasters to catch up on at parks I've visited, though.
  6. Awesome! It's inspiring that someone can do this in such a minimal space and on a modest budget. A fresh take on dark rides that looks way more imaginative than many bigger ones. So cool that he even offered a fast pass.
  7. Neat. For some reason I thought he owned the entire coaster, but it's cool that he was able to snag the train.
  8. Over a page of talk about restroom hand dryers?! I never use the traditional ones anymore, but I liked the Dyson model...possibly having second thoughts about that now. All right, back to other things...
  9. I'll miss that bit of theming the tree provided. Well, actually, I hope I won't really miss it.
  10. "Nightmare/The Dreamtime" - Motörhead
  11. If it took you less than 3 seconds to "find" it.
  12. 100. Wacky Worm, WOF (2010) 200. Superman: Ultimate Flight, SFGAdv (2011) 300. Lightning Racer: Lightning (2011) 400. Carolina Cyclone (2012) 500. Goofy's Sky School (2013) The first time I went to DCA, I wanted to ride all the coasters, but I didn't especially care for the park, so I skipped out early. This year I made it 'til the end of the day, if just barely.
  13. Goliath. El Loco. Thunder Run will be interesting since I've always heard good reviews of it, and preliminary post-rehab reports make it sound even better. If we're lucky they'll announce a new thrilling steel coaster as well. The Bat actually makes me feel more warm and fuzzy than Banshee does, even though I already have the credit. Next year I'll focus on some well-deserved repeat park visits and perhaps a handful of new-to-me rides.
  14. I hadn't paid even a moment of attention to this until now, but the theming looks awesome!
  15. Still think this looks like fun. I love a good crazy launch, no matter what the rest of the coaster does, and I've found some of the newer launches I've experienced lately to be somewhat weak.
  16. 1. Wildfire: Yup, in the back seat you get genuine airtime on the first drop. The inversions are fun, and it's hard to beat the setting, even though the other two sit-downs I've ridden are also at heavily themed, well-landscaped parks. 2. Kumba: I wasn't quite amazed with this (all the major coasters at BGT are top-notch, but Montu is the big winner for me there). I did feel some of the famous forces, but not quite at every possible moment. 3. Hulk: Opinions seem to be mixed on this one, with some considering it to be a top-tier coaster, and others getting terribly rough rides. I thought it was pretty fun, but fairly standard for a B&M.
  17. Hills That said, unlike some enthusiasts, I actually do really like inversions, and not just for the positive G's and hangtime. Bigger or slower ones can provide some neat views of the scenery. And there are also some ejector hills that I don't like...
  18. SWEET logo! I didn't even notice there was more than one bat until someone else pointed it out. I might be the only person who doesn't have a problem with the name Flight Deck, but this seems way better!
  19. Never trust a giraffe. The neck you save might be your own.
  20. 1. Giant Inverted Boomerangs 2. Flying Dutchmans 3. Invertigos 4. The Great Nor'Easter Aftershock is still in my top 10 steel, if only because it hasn't personally given me a reason to move it out; I'll wait 'til I ride it again to re-evaluate. And yes, I'm in the camp who feels that Great Nor'Easter is, in fact, a fun ride for what it is, rather than just as bad as or worse than the other SLCs.
  21. Wow, this update really enlightened me as to what Timber Falls was like. Thanks for the trip down "memory" lane.
  22. I'm often not a fan of yellow paint on coasters, but this color scheme looks like it will fit well with its surroundings. Looking forward to riding this! I loved Steel Hawg the last time I rode it, and this could be even better.
  23. ^Wow, his typing skills have really improved since the last time I corresponded with him. Meow to you too!
  24. ^^^^Didn't know it had those bada$$-looking trains, or is that new? Mine was Boardwalk Bullet. Could be the best rides I've had on it. Pain-free in the front and back, airtime-filled, fast, and intense. Glad I decided to check it out after hearing surprisingly favorable reviews of it this year.
