  1. Wow, don't think I ever heard that American Thunder was intended for SFNE. I'm really glad it ended up here instead, but now I kind of wish they'd also put in a clone of it at SFNE.
  2. Yup, that's a good-looking car all right. This project is getting more and more exciting to follow.
  3. Yes. Believe it's my second favorite in the park now.
  4. I remember one time, I went through this entire thread looking for BOOBS...on the MOON!!! I had somehow failed to notice the Page 27 indicator.
  5. Very entertaining report! Lots of fun reminders of the trip. I love the views from the Wildfire deck, and I agree with you on all the coasters at SDC.
  6. GIB's can be rough too; even Aftershock is not immune. But they provide a lot of extra excitement courtesy of the forceful vertical drops and hanging straight down against the restraint during agonizingly slow climbs and pauses.
  7. ^^Green Lantern did remind me of a Batman in terms of forces, but it was enjoyably intense, rather than painful.
  8. That looks like a Satellite Jet. They were manufactured by Kasper Klaus, who also made the similar Roto Jet and Strato Jet. Not sure of the differences off-hand, but I know I've read about 'em somewhere. The Flat Joint shows one with a similar centerpiece. Also, here's a "less fortunate" Satellite Jet operating at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver.
  9. That is a very nice touch. Glad you caught that right away so later people won't look at that section of track and complain that the park isn't taking good care of it.
  10. Only other place I could see that happening is Mt. Olympus. In fact, I feel like I have seen that there.
  11. I don't remember Roar being much fun at all, even though it wasn't too rough (and I did ride in the back). I do like the curved design of the first drop, but that was more memorable for me on other GCI's, including the other Roar.
  12. I've only been to Great Escape. Sometimes I feel a bit miffed when people call it the worst SF park. Yes, the coaster collection is lackluster to most enthusiast minds. But the Great Escape is probably the most pleasant and relaxing park in the chain. It's definitely kept a lot of the small-park feel, fun to calmly wander and explore. Comet is the star: a simple, classic airtime machine. And I rode more leisurely transportation rides there than I have anywhere else: the Sky Ride, train and Swan Boats. I like the fact that Michigan's Adventure has three woodies, even if only one is outstanding (and that one, possibly inconsistent). For some reason I always imagine it as bigger than the comparable CF parks, but I guess I'm wrong.
  13. ^SFMM and SFOT: two parks that have gone way down in my opinions this year. Yes, I once really liked SFMM. I think I'd still say La Ronde is the worst.
  14. Probably have to agree with you on the SeaWorld company. I actually almost posted that I thought at least half their coasters would qualify as an honorable mention for my favorite one!
  15. ^^Thanks for the detailed report. I had initially wondered why I hadn't paid attention to this ride, until I realized it was a water coaster (ugh, terrifying). But the theming looks very impressive, especially since there's an actual coherent storyline. I don't know much about this park, so maybe that's par for the course there, but great job either way.
  16. Let me think...hmm, I guess I'll go with B&M. Ok, make that by a landslide. I think I'd rank them as: B&M's I like, Cobra (Intamin), B&M's that suck, Shockwave (Togo). Cobra at La Ronde had a neat little pop of airtime. I remember Shockwave at Kings Dominion as being fairly bad.
  17. I switched my favorite to Montu. It has decent theming and landscaping (not that it's alone in this among inverts). It goes on for a long time and keeps you guessing. And instead of focusing solely on intensity like many others that I like to varying degrees, it simply provides a purely enjoyable coaster experience that isn't attributable only to forces.
  18. Planned Beech Bend Holiday World Indiana Beach Kentucky Kingdom Kings Island Six Flags Great America Probable Adventuredome Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino New York, New York Hotel & Casino Hopeful California's Great America Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Belmont Park SeaWorld San Diego Coney Island, Cincinnati
  19. That does look fun. I always thought trick track sounded like a neat idea, but it doesn't seem all that popular in reality.
  20. Cedar Fair: Maverick Six Flags: X2 SeaWorld Entertainment: Apollo's Chariot or Montu (which came to mind first) Herschend: Outlaw Run Universal: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Disney Parks: California Screamin' Parques Reunidos/Palace Entertainment: Boulder Dash Almost posted 2-4 coasters for nearly all of them, but finally narrowed it down a bit better!
  21. The colors sound okay in theory, but yeah, it looks dull. That picture doesn't do it any favors.
  22. I do really enjoy the setting and surroundings of the park, as California is probably my favorite part of the country scenery-wise. If only they'd bring the landscaping and upkeep of the park itself back up to par. And everything else.
  23. Sums it up. I really like the structure, setting and layout. So far it's been a once per trip ride for me, and I don't "like" it, but I'm not vitriolic in my disdain. It's never been painful for me, just slow and meandering.
  24. Ignite was fun, but I will agree that if you think about it, the supposed storyline was a bit...odd, and maybe even a little creepy. Still a decent entertainment option, though.
  25. Is that an elephant I see? I hope it's an elephant themed ride!
