  1. Well, I assume it's like a roll-cage however unnecessary that may be. In today's society many people could possibly be scared away if there were no roll bars present? Also I think they'd rather be safe than sorry since this is the first of this type of coaster in a long, long time.
  2. You can throw me in there for the count as well. I look forward to each of your new updates & you're the only reason I'll be visiting camden this year. I basically knew nothing about it before your TR. Coaster trips with moms rock, my mom and I stopped at Hershey on the way back from Philadelphia last summer after wanting to visit HP for years. Like your mom, she doesn't ride coasters but we had a fantastic time on a wide variety of rides & I did ride 3 coasters
  3. My thoughts exactly. Look at how quickly the track slopes up after the loop. Is it just me or does it look like that slope will cause insane pain?
  4. A night ride in the front row of the Beast is a must! When DB's que is full its just about a 45 minute wait because the capacity is fantastic. Firehawk may be closer to a 2hour wait depending on the dispatches even if they tell you less. Firehawk operations are pretty horrible. It's usually the most aggravating line in the park. I'd expect to wait at least 60 mins for FOF most of the day but that's alright since it's indoors. I'd recommend doing Firehawk or SOB first thing before the crowds hit!
  5. Sorry to Hi-jack, but how does one know the order in which the lands will open? I remember someone saying that they used to have the times posted on the brochure-maps but that they no longer do this. Is there a regular pattern they follow throughout the season? Are the opening times posted anywhere?
  6. Fantastic pictures! I voted for your sweet pic and was glad it didn't ask me to sign in or anything. Good luck! I can't wait to try a megalite eventually.
  7. Great Pictures! Why do you say Prowler is so much better than EK? Do they ride different (smoothness/something else) or is it just the low-to-the-ground layout and trees that make Prowler so much better? Can't wait to make it out that-a-way next summer!
  8. Nope, it is not a mobius loop. Yep. Raging Bull sign, Cleanest park in the world, and I think the giant switch in front of the carousel are all new this season along with many others I am sure. I can think of at least 7 Six Flags Parks that have at least 2 Batman coasters!
  9. Thanks for uploading your pictures! I'm looking forward to seeing the completed new addition in 2010!
  10. I think I am going to love this thread! I love your shorter videos and I'm looking forward to the full footage. Who knows how many more rides you've documented may get the ax before too long. Thank you for doing this! Ted "10 minutes of your footage > hour long tv specials" Adams
  11. Thanks for posting! Looks like a great time. I think there are still quite a few of the larger record stores, mostly in large cities. I know St. Louis had an absolutely huge one we got to wind our way through for an artist's signing session. Keep up the TR's!
  12. Thank you for posting your report! I love seeing all the cool stuff there is to do around parks and you've given me a few ideas with some of the places I haven't seen before. Keep it up!
  13. I've ridden both this season. Mean Streak in the front seat was not painful whatsoever, just boring. Mean Streak in the backseat was pretty painful. SOB is extremely painful no matter where you sit. I absolutely hate SOB especially when I think about the money that was spent on it instead of something better.
  14. Yep, we saw it on the way to the park in the fall of 2008. We had no idea it was there until I spotted it sticking out from the trees. It's less than 5 mins. from the park! Looking forward to more updates!
  15. Just a general comment that I think many people would list these as some of the best parks in the country that you would most likely like to visit depending on how many you want to visit. In no particular order these 6 parks have good reputations, Six Flags Magic Mountain, California Cedar Point, Ohio Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey Hersheypark, Pennsylvania Universal Studios along w/ Islands of Adventure, Florida I don't know how familiar you are with american parks but I suggest you look at their official websites along with the TPR Park Index and coastertube. You also might want to check out sites such as Coastergallery.com, rcdb.com, and youtube.
  16. Looking good so far. - Ted "awaiting the arrival of huge scandi trip report" adams
  17. Almost everyone has fun reading them, it's just the complainers that are vocal. You said multiple times how much you liked Great Adventure, I think those readers must have "selective" reading. I love keeping up with your adventures! Keep up the great work!
  18. Fantastic TR so far! I can't wait to see what other parks you visited! Congrats on finding the lady w/ similar interests!
  19. Yes, you are "launched" or accelerated on impulse coasters such as V2 but that is not from a standstill. You are launched forwards first and the backwards launching just adds a few mph. A strong backwards launch would be horrible. I think that having a backwards launch would be thrilling and it wouldn't need to be drastic enough to give wiplash because just the fact that it would be backwards adds to the thrill. Intense launch not needed here. Maybe it will be something kind of like Expedition Everest in that maybe it will have forwards and backwards play with a minor backwards launch included?
  20. My thoughts exactly. You're captions are fantasticly fun. I love seeing great trip reports of parks I'll be visiting later in the season. Thank you!
  21. Fantastic TR of my home region. I hold many of the same views as you. Thanks for a really well done & terse TR. Hope you had fun!
  22. That's interesting. We had some really smooth rides on the Red side opening weekend this year. Do you remember what side you were on? Also I don't see how a 147 foot drop into woodwork could be "MUCH better," especially considering its the tallest, fastest, longest racing woodie in the world so I don't think there's much room for improvement. EDIT: Ahh, I see you mentioned you rode the Red side. That's interesting I found it much smoother than in previous years. I think they did some retracking before the 2008 season.
  23. ^^Wow, congrats on getting over your fear of inversions, emiroo! That's quite a tale & I'm glad you now feel free! ^I believe those were my first two inverting coasters as well, beamer3k! I <3 SFGAm & miss Shockwave dearly as well. I didn't fully appreciate it untill it was gone.
  24. Now I'm supper excited for Cornball in the backseat! I was hopping to see pics of your evac. That's so aweosme. I've had some weird experiences like when they stopped vortex on the lift hill to tell someone to put out their cigarette and that smoking was not allowed on rides at KI, but never an evac! Also if you think logansport is a weird name that's not the half of it. It's a highschool in Indiana I played soccer against. They're the Logansport Berries. And if being Berries isn't weird enough guess who their mascot is. Felix the Cat! not even kidding: http://lhs.lcsc.k12.in.us/ If they get Felix then I want Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse... Anyway, awesome pics as usual! I'm Looking forward to the rest & I'll hit you up before long.
