  1. Agreed. I think it's very clever seeing as how it rose up to fly again. Also: The Beast, Ultimate, Oblivion, Mind Eraser, Mind Bender, & Mighty Canadian Minebuster are all very good. I'm still waiting for Mind Buster!
  2. Great Video Matt! I enjoy keeping up with your travels & it makes me excited for my trips out that-a-way this summer. Keep it up! (Just trade that NY hat for a Braves hat and you have it made!)
  3. I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing work. I loved your SFGAm coverage. Keep up the great work Shane!
  4. I would assume it's because you can't see the whole drop even once you crest the pre-drop. Rides where the angle of the drop is depressed enough as to where you can't see the track where you're going can seem like it's steeper than a 90* drop especially to the non-enthusiast. Anyways: I love this thread & always find myself stopping back in on it for a laugh.
  5. Thanks! So what is the deal with "This patch is NOT iron-on" patches? Many of the patches I'm finding have this disclaimer. Am I supposed to take that at face value? Do they really make patches that aren't iron-on-able? Just wondering if anyone had any insight or if this was the definition of a dumb question?
  6. I'm thinking the column method looks better so they're right side up with your arms at your side. It would be interesting to put them upside down so that people would ask & you could tell them they're right side up when you're riding a coaster with your hands up. But that would get old after saying it 20 times a day if you ever wore it to a park. Where did you get all your patches? Did you get them all at the parks because I don't seem to run across them often, but then again I didn't start looking for them until recently.
  7. I'd say Legend The Beast's 2nd lifthill drop into the covered helix & American Eagle's 147 foot drop into framework (longest, tallest, fastest racing woodie in the world) are the best I've been on. Can't wait for El Toro in 2010!
  8. Grrr! Jealous! I had a total of 5 coaster rides, flume, rapids, 5 or so flats, and 5 or so slides on the busy day I went. Did you find the giant viewing window for the station flyby down below the station for voyage? They had that part of the que blocked off in the morning but opened it up in the evening once the line was filling up my last trip. As to your "not getting the beast" comment I definitely need to visit holiday world again now that my back is in better shape but I do prefer the beast over all 3 of the woodies at holiday world. It's just a different run away ride experience that I absolutely love in the front seat. The rides I had with you showed me the roughness of the beast that I had heard about so often but never experienced myself. Riding the beast in anything besides the front seat is nowhere near as fun or as smooth!
  9. Great Report! With all the hubbub about magnum's first official sign I missed the memo that CP would feature it at the entrance along with a video board. I can't wait to visit this year and experience maverick for the first time!
  10. I didn't really mean suicidal. I just meant brave enough to go attack a loud rolly-coaster, something I would never have been brave enough to do no matter how curious I was. Sorry for the unclear post. It still makes me wonder though. Maybe the ride was loading and wasn't running when the kid walked onto the track.
  11. Here is a random thought: What kind of suicidal kid would wander right up to a go-gator coaster? I know I would have been scared to death to get too close to that type of ride if I was not actually riding it! I guess this has alot to do with the how the individual is raised and the don't play in traffic, stand on the dot, hold my hand school of thought.
  12. I'm glad they put in a ride with some outstanding themeing. Maybe it's just me but the park was starting to feel a little bare once they shifted their focus from looney tunes to cartoon network although I am aware part of Bugs Bunny National Park is still there. I guess I'm old school but I miss the way the park used to feel with the musical rocks playing "the entertainer" all day long. Maybe it's because my most recent visit was on opening day this year while all the trees were still dead looking from the winter and before all the greenery had a chance to turn green. I'm looking forward to riding Buccaneer Battle for the first time!
  13. Looks like SOB & Racer tours were pretty cool. I'd gladly stay there. I can't think of many better or more relaxing ways to spend an afternoon in a recliner under the beast structure with a cooler of beers. That would be heaven!
  14. Hooray for your 100th credit, hooray for this being my 100th post! I would suggest one of four depending on your personal preference: 1)Comet - at 63 years old it's the oldest coaster in the park and the only one that's at least 50 years old. 2)Great Bear - really neat invert with the 7 elements idea like the 7 stars in the constellation of the same name(the big dipper part of Ursa Major). 3) Storm runner - wow 4) Fahrenheit - 97* and falling fast
  15. That was an amazing day! Thanks for the amazing pictures that I had no idea that you were taking of me Riding Diamondback 10 times in one day thanks to ERT until 1 in the morning was fantastic. You also got some sweet reaction shots. The one with the guy's eyes bulging out of his head is gold. Oh and the firework shots I'm assuming you'll post looked sweet. Can't wait to see more!
  16. 2 CREDIT QUESTIONS: I obviously count (willard's) whizzer @ SFGAm as a credit as does probably everyone else. I was just wondering if there were any purists who don't count whizzer as a credit for the fact that it has a motor in the front car that pulls it to the top of the spiral lift. Of course it shuts off at the top (you can hear it shut off) and it uses gravity to make it through the rest of the course (therefore a coaster by most people's definition). When you think about it Superman at Magic Mountain must be considered a credit. The two arguments would be the method of acceleration, and the fact it traverses the same track twice (shuttle coaster). If Kingda Ka, rocket coasters, Flight of fear, and all other launched coasters are credits Superman can't be held out for that reason. And If DeJaVu, Wicked Twister, shuttle loops, and boomerangs are counted than it can't be held out for that reason either. I fail to see how Superman differs from wicked twister besides two spikes vs. one tower. Just curious about what positions/stances this might bring up.
  17. I could see this working fairly well if there were no turns in the layout. By that I mean an out and back pipeline type of coaster where it hits a transfer at the end and just reverses directions and comes back through the same structure. Also is the voyage not considered wood? It seems to me that a hybrid wood-steal support system would be able to take the weight of midsized train. As long as it were kept to about 80 feet or less I think it's plausible but would probably have similar downtime issues to a ride like DeJaVu.
  18. I hope you got to take a night ride on the beast, Guy. It's probably the favorite coaster moment I've come across so far. Also I've found that flyers are much better about 3/4's of the way back in the train. I think I prefer Firehawk to the S:UF clones but I probably wouldn't prefer them over Tatsu or Manta.
  19. That's really cool guys. That would be awesome to come across randomly. I had no idea of its whereabouts.
  20. Wow! thanks abunch! Installing that was much easier than I thought it would be. I never stop being amazed but the wonderful technical help I can always get from TPR members. Seeing an actual steady POV of Z force was really cool, me being the SFGAm fanboy that I am. And I never knew that tidbit about where the SOB trains came from. Thanks!
  21. Technical issue. Can anyone help? I went through the downloading process and when it finished downloading in my downloads box view, the subtitle "Mounting failed" appears. When I click on the file name it says, "Safari can’t open the file “free_tpr_dvd.iso” because it is still downloading." So I am stuck at a standstill. I'm using a Mac notebook running Mac OS X. This is strange because usually my Mac is a perfect piece of machinery. If I cannot figure it out it's not a big deal since I've watched & loved all the magical hoodie movies, and I have 5 TPR dvd's on the way that I ordered a while back. Cannot wait for them to get here! They'll be the perfect reward after a tough finals week! Thanks for all your work Robb!
  22. Haha, very good analysis. Too long trains would in fact be too long. I would agree that I prefer the old hyper trains to the new ones but I haven't yet had a chance to ride in one of the back seats. I'll be doing that this Saturday. Wow, imagine riding in one of these long trains on a B&M hyper that had the predrop. That would be insane in the backseats.
  23. That was brilliant guys! It felt very, very complete. Fantastic!
  24. Ah I think I see where it is now. I never knew about that. We'll be there for two days. One day we'll have early admittance from hotel breakers, the other day we technically would but not all my friends will have CF Platinum passes so we probably wont enter early that day. How do they distinguish the early admittance from the regular admittance guests that enter from the back? Do you get early entrance passes or something at hotels?
