  1. If you ever get to sit on the backside of the one at HW and watch the operator in the second story window of the house you'll see why I personally prefer that one. The one at IB is great too though, especially when you get rerides without leaving your seat!
  2. I'm partial to the double shot in the southern indiana, but they're both great!
  3. I'm not in the know about what will be open and what won't be, but assuming most things are open I'd go with Robb & everyone else saying get a (gold) flash pass. That park is packed with great coasters, you can just make a loop around the park riding to your heart's content. Even the mr. freeze is a mirrored version of the st. louis one, so it's kind of cool being pulled in different directions especially when traveling backwards. Don't miss shockwave, that ride caught me by surprise as an amazing front seat ride, almost in my top 10 of 100.
  4. 17,000+ feet = 2.5 times the length of The Beast. That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
  5. I agree with many of the posts in this thread. It seems that Disney is one of the only park chains that keeps themed family rides. I would have loved to visit KD back then almost as much as I'd enjoy it today. The perfect park would be today's with a few good non-interactive dark rides like smurf mountain and haunted river.
  6. I rode Texas Giant about a month ago in the front and in the middle. I agree it could do with some rehab but if it does than so should about half the woodies I've ridden. It honestly wasn't that bad, but then again I've been raised on 28 woodies, none of which were GCI.
  7. Go watch the POV on Holiday World's website! I think even the members here who didn't want the watercoaster will be happy with this addition. It looks amazing!
  8. Well, more like 14 pages but still impressive. & I agree I like the few I've been on especially when they're new and smooth. I really like how Kennywood is releasing the info in stages. I'm excited to see what it will be named, animations, construction, etc... I can't wait for next year!
  9. A few thoughts: Keep in mind that I hate rough coasters. I found cornball to be decently smooth when I rode it in June. You cannot go to IB without riding cornball in the back row! My first ride was in the back and it was a pretty good ride but I didn't know what to expect. After that we rode it about 4 more times in the back and all our ride were amazing. I'm glad you're going back. Please try cornball at least twice in the back, you'll be glad you did! Also I think you got Tig'rr and Galaxi mixed up in your report. Tig'rr is the schwarzkopf, Galaxi is the little yellow steel coaster in the middle of all the slides. Glad you like IB though, it really is a special place!
  10. Wow, the whinny-complainers have already come out. Personally, I'm super excited. It kind of sounds like a mix of the Flight of Fears and the Mr. Freezes on a smaller scale. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is the length of only 2100 feet but maybe that will be decent since Mr. Freeze is only 1300, and all of that 2100 will be ride (no lift hill).
  11. CP's twitter: Now they're just messing with us! TOGO is defunct! It's kind of funny that they're enjoying how we hold on to their every word. I guess this now means the new project is not necessarily INTAMIN, or GCI since they're hinting all kinds of stuff but I'm thinking it probably will be one of those two.
  12. ^I think I've only done ProBowls & BulletBowls looking at the pictures on their site. I have a feeling this will be a "rocket" type ride when talking about the "magic" technology.
  13. ^Yeah I'll be very surprised if it's anything other than a deluge/master blaster type of slide after all those clues.
  14. It seems to me that gyro drops still have better capacity, especially when most S&S combo towers don't run all towers at once.
  15. I really enjoyed reading about your experience with Tornado. I've marathoned a few woodies without having to re-que. It's always a great experience and it sounds like yours was even more magical!
  16. Zippers are my personal favorite fair ride as well. You can usually get some sweet airtime while flipping over the top of crest at least once or twice during a ride cycle!
  17. Wow, that looks completely impressive in the concept art! Is Haunted Mansion the only ride so far that uses that ghost in the car/behind you in the mirror type of trick?
  18. ^I see these points but I still think Saturday would be the best choice (if you can suffer through the day) in lieu of all the night rides you want to get. Staying open till midnight should make a huge difference especially at a park like Kings Island that seems to clear out pretty well towards the end of the night. Those last two hours should be golden for you as long as you could make it through the day.
  19. The funny thing is that I doubt it could fly much higher into the air than about 450 feet even if it did derail which is impossible anyway, haha. I really hope they do get it back up in August. "People talking" is never a good thing and Six Flags doesn't need more issues like this to hurt their image.
  20. Given your arguments stated above I'd probably go Saturday. 2nd choice would be Thursday. The Lines are probably going to suck on all 3 days so you might as well go on a night it's open until midnight to make sure you get all the rides in that you want to. If not Saturday I'd go thursday when the lines might suck just a tad bit less.
  21. Thank you Kooky! Fantastic Find. Finally a video worthy of this new coaster. I love the indoor parts. I can't wait to see what the launch looks like once they straighten out the technical difficulties.
  22. I really admire places that do the best with what they have. They always seem to have their own charm and magic. I hope based off that theory that they didn't want to just hurry up and do the woman's bathroom but are taking their time to do something really cool with the women's bathroom as well. I applaud Deadwood!
  23. Check this out: http://www.rcdb.com/pd847.htm Apparently Indy had 3 full sized coasters right up until 1970 in a public park of sorts as I understand it. I keep meaning to find the park when I go to Indy although I'd be very surprised if there were any traces still left. Also I remember going to Old Indiana Fun Park when I was a kid. It was a really cool place with a top notch wild west stunt show. Sadly, I was too young to ride any coasters.
  24. ^^I agree with the two posts above me that Josh Linn's post seems petty, ridiculous, and entitled...But I for one will cut him some slack even though I disagree with his opinion because he is local to knoebels & I could see how aggravating it would be to go to the park often for 3 years and still not have the ride open. All we can hope for is a very good hitch-free opening sometime very soon. Opening day 2010 would be nice...
