  1. world's fair enthusiasts, take note. This may be old news to some but still really cool. -The Devil in the White City book chronicling the 1893 columbian exposition & it's famous serial killer - first Ferris wheel (there's never been one with as high of a capacity since) Pabst became PBR! mass use of electricity = white city. -The Mighty Book of Boosh -Beard trimmer -Fudge, calendars, clothes, cash, etc. -Road atlas -World atlas
  2. Why is Prince Desmond Sam Cassell? I'm aware of both jokes, but not quite sure why they are the same person now, haha.
  3. I, like so many others, absolutely love the bonuses! I hope you can do this sale again next black friday! I've bought about 6 or so TPR dvds in the past at regular price (which is still a steal) but I just can't afford anymore currently now with the way my budget is right now. Whenever I do have monies, I'm happy to spend them with TPR, and I appreciate all the deals that you do provide!
  4. It's been a good year. Here are the ones I remember off the top of my head- Luna Park, Deno's WW, & Coney Island Cyclone Dollywood Kennywood Holiday World 3x SFGAm Mt. Olympus, Little Amerricka, Timberfalls Lake Winnie
  5. A few posts have mentioned moving the trims. If the trims are after the first turn doesn't that kind of defeat the point? Isn't the first turn the "grey out turn?" I'm as lost as everyone else but don't see howmoving the trims to after the problem turn would make any sense.
  6. A good time was had by all. Jeff (CoasterWarriors) had never been on Pilgrim's Plunge. I wasn't going to ride and then decided, "What the hell? Let's do this!" I can't wait to get him on Frightful Falls either. I love that crazy flume! I think we got in the ballpark of 20-25 rides so around the same # of laps as during Holiwood Nights. We took alot of breaks during HWN though because the ERT was at the end of a very long day & we had 2 non-coaster geeks with us. Assuming I can make it, I'll def be hitting 10 on Voyage instead of this year's annoying 9. I hope to get at least 10+ laps on all three woodies in a single day at some point.
  7. Great Photos, Patrick! It was fantastic meeting you, and I'm glad we ended up getting ice cream after! Good Times! The park president was wrong about the removal of whizzer only ever being a rumor. He said he'd only been there since '06 or somwhere there abouts, correct? So it was before his time. They were going to take it out and even had signage saying so! The backlash from the park patrons was so strong they changed their mind! Photo: http://www.coastergallery.com/1999/SFGA31.html
  8. I'm pleased with Cedar Fair's decision to put in 4 of these. I'm glad KI is getting one. I can't wait to get on it! I think it might have been better to put one in at Carowinds or another CF park instead of 2 in Ohio but whatever, I'm just excited to get on this thing and I'm looking forward to what CF has in store for the next few years!
  9. I've actually been on Vortex quite a few times and love the airtime in the last few rows. I was thinking more along the lines of jamesdillaman in that Viper's layout is much closer to Shockwave's than that of Vortex. Vortex is great but I want to give the "tiny loops up high in the sky thing" another chance, haha! We're leaving for Gurnee in 3 hours!
  10. ^ Yeah I never understood putting the trim on the way up the FIRST Hill. Talk about a ride killer. We're leaving for Gurnee at 6pm today! Can't wait to see the Skyline of SFGAm! Especially American Eagle!
  11. ^ Was Viper there yet? I'm sure you've heard of it's sweet reputation if it wasn't, and if it was, well then you know for yourself! I really hate that shockwave is gone even though I rode it around 2000. I didn't like it, but thing is I hated all arrows back then. I was too short (headbanging) and didn't know how to ride them in gerenal. I'd love to get another chance to ride it now that I actually know how to ride looping coasters. Now that GASM is gone, Viper is the closest thing I can get to another Shockwave ride.
  12. Hahaha! Horrible joke. Didn't it kill someone as "Rail Blazer?" Or did they take the stand up trains off for a different reason?
  13. Wow, Thanks man! I've never gotten so much help from TPR in my time here! Your last few posts were crazy helfpul. Mt. Olympus' ticket system sure is one giant piece of stinking crap! Heh.
  14. Thanks Jon! That info ^ is very helpful to me and I'm sure to many others as well! How do you reserve the $10 NaTP tickets? The only way I can find to get tickets is through their horrible e-ticket system. When I enter 3 people and the date it says their full but you can still reserve e-tickets for the park. When I click on that it wants me to buy Full Day tickets. I don't see any options for the NaTP even though I found this page! http://www.mtolympuspark.com/night-at-the-park/ -Ted Adams
  15. ^^ Thanks! I just heard from Robb and should be good! ^ Haha! That's fantastic! edit: Sounds like there may be quite a few females at this event? Even if many are already taken, like my girl. Can't wait for the first rides on Superman, Viper ERT and TOURS!!!
  16. 1) Is the screaming swing an upcharge? 2) I'm assuming they clear the park by 10 if you're there w/o the in the dark tickets? Or is that a twilight type of thing where the rest of the guests don't have to leave, they just add the new guests in to the mix? edit: Also, this entire thread has been fairly helpful as I'm doing a SFGAm, Dells, Little Amerricka, & IB trip. IB and Great America are old hat to me but I've never been to the Dells or Little Amerricka!
  17. How do you know you're registered? I Paid via paypal before the deadline and got the automatic tpr store receipt email like always and also got a confirmation message from pay pal to Robb. Is that it? Is there any way to double check if we're registered? I'm slightly paranoid because I saw a post by Robb saying he would send an email out to participants just days before the event, and I haven't received one in a while. Is there anything we need to bring to the park to check in/ receive our packets? As I said I'm paranoid Thanks for any responses!
  18. Hahaha. That would definitely make it a bad show! I wonder why they were having so much trouble with it? Keep this thread going. I love threads like this and Shane's amusement attic. Great stuff, Thank you!
  19. This thread is fantastic. Two questions about your SF Great America post. 1) What do you mean about taking the police car out of the que line? It's been there every time I've gone, the last time being in 2007, (going again for the TPR day!) 2) What show did you see in Space Shuttle America that you didn't like? I saw at least 2 different ones. I thought the dinosaur one was fantastic and had amazing 3-D effects! The other was an "ok" space themed one where you traveled through some sort of time traveling/dimension hopping space tunnel thingy.
  20. Wow! You're THAT excited about this event, huh? --Robb Lol! It was more a feild of dreams reference (if you build it...) but you never know, I am pretty excited about the idea of backstage toury-is-ness at my old home park, haha!
  21. I found out I don't have to work the 14th if I don't want to (travel time back). If you hold it I will come.
  22. Yes I am very interested! I've been to SFGAm about 10 times growing up, and would absolutely love to enjoy it TPR style with backstage tours and all! I'm really hoping this happens. I have the 13th off for sure and believe I could get the 14th off.
  23. Fantastic Report and beautiful pictures! You've probably already thought of this but I would think it would be much easier to do earlier in the season. I went opening day of 2009 and by 5pm we were getting rerides on the coasters without leaving our seats! That's how dead it was. If you do this in any month besideds May I'll be very impressed! It'd be quite an accomplishment even in May! Good Luck!
  24. I hope Iron Wolf is on it's way out as well. And personally, I have no problem with it staying a standup. I've only ridden 3 standing coasters but Chang was by far the smoothest. I only hope that it ages well at SFGAm. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't, I'm just paranoid.
