^That thought came into my head as well. If things are looking up let's save all our attractions for when we really need them to get people through the gate. BUT, I don't think that's the reason behind the delay. I think it was something else and this might be a slightly contributing factor. Not a determining factor in the delay.

Bars & Stuff to do around Holiday World
tedten replied to mcvays99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Indiana has plenty to do, especially if you're 21. Bloomington, IN is quite an impressive city for its size. Fantastic bars, music scene, and art district. Indianapolis has a wonderful first friday event and some really unique bars as well like The Brass Ring. Yes, you guessed it, named after carousel brass rings! It's a classy-ish bar with a Piano, Black and white movies, and gangster paraphernalia and guns for decoration. I understand 2.5 hours to B*town and Indy are a bit far from HW but the state doesn't deserve it's no fun reputation. You want an interesting night? Try walking down Kirkwood or Walnut in Bloomington on a weekend night. You'll see some crazy stuff! Indiana might be boring as a whole but it definitely has some hot spots. Nashville, IN is another very interesting place. You can spend a whole day there just walking into the hundreds of shops! Mmm... Nashville Fudge -
Bay Area Bash photo TR attempt-complete
tedten replied to fatdaddy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Hahaha. Very funny, not true though! I really enjoyed your TR! Also I agree that it is a huge shame that so many parks took out their chairlifts! I think they really add alot to a parks atmosphere. Same goes for quality non-shooting dark rides and monorails! I really miss alot about older parks in general really. Not digging the new crazes. Anywho... Also I really dug the pictures of Flight Deck with the jet-trails in the sky. Very cool and fitting to the theme of the ride! Thanks for putting this up! -
Just wanted to mention you can get some EPIC airtime on zippers when they flip around the top. It works like a whip but you're going over a hill not around a turn so you get airtime instead of laterals. Great forces!

Roller Coasters in the Raw HD! On Blu-Ray!
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I completely understand not releasing everything for free, that just wouldn't make any sense. I think we're just asking for the opportunity to buy it on dvd instead of blu-ray which you explained will continue. Thank you! -Ted -
Roller Coasters in the Raw HD! On Blu-Ray!
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^ Well he was just asking if the particular segment would be released on something other than blu-ray. He may not necesarily be "cheap" and "want things for free"as Robb suggested, he may just not have a blu-ray player. edit: Also, thank you for the explanation Robb. As always, everything TPR does makes perfect sense! I think he was just curious if the particular segment would be released on something other than blu-ray. -
Roller Coasters in the Raw HD! On Blu-Ray!
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
any chance to see that vid without buying the Blu-Ray?? o.O No. Don't be cheap. Buy the damn disc. It's full of awesome footage. And it helps support the site. --Robb "Everyone wants us to do everything for free..." Alvey ... or just in a format that we are capable of watching. I don't want to start anything but I have 3 methods of watching dvds including an Xbox 360. None of them are capable of playing blu-ray. I'm not about to get a 4th player just so I can watch blu ray. I think if this was released on dvd as well gameplayer951 and myself would be perfectly happy to buy it. Am I missing something here? -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Because racing through the woods doesn't sound fun at all! *cough* endor *cough* Sorry to get off topic but I had to point this out. Race through the woods, and then a Final Helix sounds like a fantastic tagline to me. Reminds me of one of my favorite coaster names of all time. "Race Thru the Clouds" anybody??? - http://rcdb.com/3041.htm - -

No mention of the lights being on in Big Lots Stunt Coaster? (laugh at my joke). Anybody know if that's a permanent change? or just for the day for some reason??? Great TR. Can't wait for more although I'm still grieving over your started but never finished Reon's 2009 Adventures that I was supposed to star in!!! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's to simulate body weight. When you think about how much a trainload of people weights it's a significant amount. The last thing they want is for a train to valley. Am I right in thinking that most steel coasters don't have anti- roll backs at the tops of hills like wooden coasters? -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Me too. That's about the price tag of a B&M and a new woodie. If it weren't for SOB, Kings Island might be one of the best parks out there right now. -
What is your Favorite Coaster Manufacturer?
tedten replied to vertgforces's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
B&M and GCI are currently my faves. Gravity Group might make a move depending on how The Voyage rides with timberliners -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Actually you can see them pretty well on some of the zoomed in images on KDfansite / behind the thrills from Clint's video. Just as you can in the pic posted above^ -

If the trains end up being the as-of-late regular intamin OTSRs I'm going to be disappointed. These are bearable on Fahrenheit and Maverick but I'm worried about how comfortable they'll be on the first turn (even with it's super wide radius) and the numerous quick transitions... from I305 website -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Well yes and no, the award was from the LA Times. They took into consideration many roller coaster enthusiast(s) / experts including Robb (who is credited as choosing El Toro). The poll they mention is like the feedback poll for readers to have a say after their official decisions were already announced. Sorry if this is redundant, just wanted to make it clear that the award they're talking about was from the LA Times, not their ongoing reader poll. -
Photo & Video TR: Kiddieland 9-26-09
tedten replied to traincrossin's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Fantastic coverage! It's such a shame this place is gone. I never got to visit kiddieland. I'm glad SFGAm is rebuilding the little dipper but that doesn't make up for loosing kiddieland. -
New shuttle coaster for Conny Land for 2007
tedten replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks so much cooler in action than I expected. I don't think the train making it to the end of the hanging spike with too much speed would ever happen. It needs the help of the motorized tires to make it to the top of the spike in a similar way that the Mr. Freeze needs the extra set of LIMs just to make it to the top of the spike. -
I think you're wrong on this one. I've only been a member for about 10 months and I have never been on a TPR trip but I think this will offer plenty of value to travelers and non travelers alike. I was slightly hesitant when I first saw this but really has TPR ever screwed anything up at all? I think that it is wonderful they set up this poll which allows all of us to see the voting results and each other's arguments as they unfold. Democracy at its finest. I for one can fully trust the Alveys when they say they will not let elitism take place here. TPR is wonderful, I can't think of many things keeping it from perfection besides that "most sought after credits" feature I've been bugging Robb for. Going on their track record what do you have to be afraid of???
-
^I think this idea would help the premium membership be more successful. I personally would pay for the extra $5 credit but many might not, however silly that might be. I think it's a great idea but I would stick to media interaction over newsprint. Receiving TPR stuff in the mail is awesome so a bi-annual package might be cool but you both come across fantastic on the Live chat things so a podcast might be better than printed news. You are fun, let ace do the slightly outdated newsletters. TPR has just as much content but with more fun. Do what you do best!

Where In The World Do TPR Members Live?
tedten replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Bloomington, IN. I'm more than 2 hours away but less than 3 hours away from: Indiana Beach, Holiday World, & Kings Island. It's a bitter sweet thing... 3 great parks all 2.5 hours away
