Haunted Castle @ SCBB Opening Day PTR
Gnome replied to 65skylark's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
while not anything mind blowing, it looked like a really solid and fun attraction. I wish more regional parks, in particular the chain parks, would put in more attractions like this. It would be good to see more inspired and thought out rides like this showing up. While this ride doesn't look like it will set any new trends in the industry, I think SCBB should be very proud of their new attraction and I will definitely hit up HC next time i go to SCBB. -
honestly, there is no reason why mace should have been used. If Six Flags had the appropriately trained (and appropriately sized staff as well) then a situation like this would have never even occurred. You can blame the band but ultimately who was the one spraying little 15 year olds in the face? What happened on stage was likely no more dangerous then the gaggle-F** of kids out on the floor. I would say Six Flags is ultimately to blame for not being prepared with the proper staff to handle such occasions properly. After all it was their venue, was it not? Therefore safety is SF's responsibility. Ironically enough, it appears the security was the biggest hazard for this crowd. Idk if any of you have been to Soma in San Diego, but they by far have the biggest bouncer's i have ever seen. If SF had even 2 of those guys I'm sure this wouldnt have even been an issued.

Curse of DarKastle compared to Spider-Man
Gnome replied to knottslover77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wouldnt put it pass anyone to like a sally shooter over MiB. I myself wasn't to fond of it. Sets were great, but i thought the game experience was lacking. The thing with Spidey is I felt so much more immersed. The fx were definately far superior compared to dark kastle. And i just walked away from it feeling over whelmed and I wanted to go on it again. Dark kastle was a lot of fun as well, but i wasnt blown away. I was amused and I would say it was a solid and imaginitive attraction, but not quite on the same level as Spidey. -
creepy? yes. innappropriate? highly. would i be pissed if I were in her? yes. I would probably want blood as well, but overall i also think she's being highly sensitive to something that for the most part was a harmless act and dwelling on it is just going to cause her more harm then good. She should be thankful it was only a quick cop of her boob and nothing more. i do feel some pitty for her but I just think that she's taking to far in her own mind.

i would like to smoke it when Im old and retired with no real responsibilities. Also I'd much rather use thc to numb any pains I have over using addictive pain killers such as oxycotton and codien. But not until then do I require marijuana as the effects of mj would only slow me down and interefere with my young and ambitious life.

I saw All THat Remains, Devil Wears Prada, Haste the Day, and Story of the year in San Diego. Lots of circle pits and big ass dudes. I enjoyed it but i think i will stay away from shows in san diego. They're too muscular for my own good. Ill stay in the OC/LA area where the large folk are far and few. Over all though the bands performances were top notch and if you're into the music and more specificially, if you're into any of those bands I would encourage you to see them. TDWP is going to be co-headlining with Killswitch Engage so i would reccommend going to see them then if you ever see them.

Other haunts in the SoCal area?
Gnome replied to Coasterbp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
dont forget about shipwreck on the queen mary. It has the added "scare effect" of being supposedly actually being haunted -
Anybody stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO?
Gnome replied to Gnome's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ to answer your question, no. Im actually in the Marine Corp. Cant believe they would actually send us along with the navy and airforce to a place like this. But I guess this is where they send America's military to be trained in the art of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear defense... hopefully i can find some one on base to go with and split taxi fare with. -
Im asking because i'll be here for a couple of months and it would be a shame to not get to see Six Flags, St Louis or Silver Dollar City while I'm out here, and Im in student status so POV's (personally owned vehicles) are out of the question. It would be cool to meet some coaster enthusiasts in the area, too.

Cruising with Theme Park Review 2008!

red rocket red rocket! haha. Sick asses -
While both Busch parks are better then the majority of other chain parks, I think for first time visits BGE is a much better park. Everysinge roller coaster and ride is very different and very interesting, and very good. BGA has some really good coasters too like montu, Sheikra, and my personal favorite Kumba., but they also have some pretty sub par rides in their collection. But for return visits... i'd think BGE would get old since all the rides are far apart and there's a lot of walking in between. BGA would be a fun park to kick it at daily.

Cypress Gardens Closing...
Gnome replied to CoasterJunkie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
this is a textbook example of schaden freude Isn't learning fun kids? Its really not a loss though for the theme park community or the local community because if it was really welcomed then it would not have closed.. THere was no market for it, crappy or poorly planned parks die and all the others live on. -
Could these be the final days of Six Flags?
Gnome replied to winningfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
wow. Reccessions are probably the best, although most risky times, to invest in stock if you can. Im not sure if Six Flags would be your best option, but since the stock is relatively low, you could get a lot of stock for not that much money. -

Knotts had some cool things this year. Most impressive was what they did for Asylum and and Club blood by putting them inside of the where house. THe mine ride needs a new theme for next year, and a lot of the midways were to bright, imo. THey should change that. I realize that the rides need to be lit up for safety reasons, but you can still have the rides lit without casting a bright light over the entire midway. Overall haunt was fun. It was some of the most fun I had but it was more for the people I was with then anything. I'd still reccommend Universal if you could get everyone to go out there. -
I thought last years was a great event as well and I hope to get back this year. While they're keeping the same characters, its nice to see that they're still growing the event. A longer terror tram will definately give the attraction enough to give it another visit, and I like the idea of adding more scare zones. Really, compared to the competition, HHN is just a much better event, imo. I definately prefer the 3 - 4 good mazes with a couple of quality shows (and dont forget about the atmosfear ), compared to 12 mediocre mazes and 5 mediocre shows and fog machines rolling by to designate a "scare zone"

Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
Gnome replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
nothing LIM has ever really came across to me as "strong," but that's probably because I have Xcelerator to compare to... and there is no way an LIM launch is going to touch a hydrolic launch. -
As far as immitation goes, Rock Band does a far better job. The note patterns on GH on expert on the last couple of songs are just rediculous and not really that much fun. It was obvious to me that it was made by a bunch of amatures who were new to the note patterns. But when it comes down to it, Im thinking that this is the game that they've been working on since Neversoft took over and it might be pretty decent, hopefully. With that said, I still like the format of Rockband a lot and the song selection is slightly better, imo. So Rockband 2 ftw
