  1. Played Baritone since 7th grade, marched 8th-12th grade. This fall will be my 4th year in the Million Dollar Band at the University of Alabama.
  2. Other than some standard retracking, some added bracing on some supports, and a staircase added to the break run it is the same ride. No trims, although the break run does slow the train more prior to the drop/turn back into the station now.
  3. It's a Boomerango from White Water West: http://blog.al.com/businessnews/2009/03/alabama_adventure_amusement_pa.html
  4. ^^ I tried explaining that to a guest once who was demanding her money back because of a ride closure (it re-opened maybe 5 minutes later). She informed me she had never had a car breakdown of any kind (she was probably 60) because she takes care of her cars and we obviously did not take care of our rides. ^I have kicked kids off of rides for sitting on rails. I don't care who you are, you don't forget 3 times in less than 2 minutes that I asked you to not sit on the rails.
  5. It's possible he just really wanted to get out. I once saw a kid get out of an Arrow train restraints while it was being dispatched.
  6. I too thought about it being for Darien Lake, but did that many pieces get damaged during removal? If so, would it really be worth it to PARC to rebuild it?
  7. That's weird... I stayed at that Holiday Inn back in October and at the River Terrace when I was there back in 2006. Man I love that whole area.
  8. If you make every employee go through a metal detector I bet they will all learn the same thing as the employees I worked for did: your belt buckle will set it off every time, so they would just hide it behind their buckle. And when you have tons of employees showing up at the same time, how do you get them checked in a timely fashion?
  9. The towers were added when Ogden/Alfa Smart Parks built the park. They also added towers to Visionland when they were managing that park. If they did the same thing at Jazzland that they did at Visionland, then they leased the towers from S&S. When Southland Entertainment bought Visionland out of bankruptcy they had the option of buying 1 or both towers or let S&S reposess both. They chose to keep the Space Shot tower and S&S took back the Turbo Drop. Assuming Jazzland leased them too, Six Flags probably faced the same decision when they took over (buy 1 or both towers and send them back to S&S). If they ponied up the cash to keep them, I would assume that would be the one ride that they could keep (that they did not add in 2003), but you know what they say when you assume...
  10. Didn't Six Flags say they were going to move the S&S towers to another park? (If so, it could be the "iconic ride" coming to TGE)
  11. When Cedar Fair first announced the ride, the first thing that came to my mind was it was a ploy to either A.) Show the city they are serious about keeping the park and the city would kill the chance of the 49ers building the stadium B.)Make the park look better for a possible sale to the 49ers, and thus Cedar Fair would then be off the hook for the ride by selling the park.
  12. I did. I was sent a response back with the standard "We're sorry" park talk.
  13. Alabama Adventure has been sold to Oklahoma based Adrenaline Family Entertainment (owners of Clementon Park). Here is the press release: BESSEMER, Ala., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Adrenaline Family Entertainment, Inc. announced today the acquisition of Alabama Adventure in Bessemer, Alabama. Adrenaline Family Entertainment is a theme park operating company made up of former seasoned senior Six Flags Inc. executives and majority owned by Angelo, Gordon & Co., an alternative investment management firm with more than $18 billion of assets under management. The acquisition is expected to be completed on May 15, 2008. Adrenaline Family Entertainment's CEO, Hue Eichelberger, was previously an Executive Vice President at Six Flags responsible for overseeing that company's operations in the eastern half of North America. Eichelberger commented, "The acquisition of Alabama Adventure was based on the quality of the Park, the impressive turnaround under the seller's ownership, the strength of the greater Birmingham market and the potential for significant growth." Alabama Adventure is the second Park purchased by Adrenaline in the past year and fits its business model of acquiring and operating high quality entertainment venues in strong regional markets. The seller, Southland Entertainment, LLC, acquired the park in 2003 and has since invested substantial capital, including new rides and attractions. Southland will now turn its attention and resources to the development of the adjacent 157 acre parcel for which preliminary development plans include a hotel/indoor waterpark project, a possible RV park project and other commercial and retail development. Southland President, Kent Lemasters, stated, "Our decision to sell the Park was based not only on our desire to develop the real estate around the park, but it was also important for us to sell to someone who has the resources and experience to expand the park." Adrenaline Family Entertainment's resources, operating experience and capital investment plan are expected to contribute to an improved park experience. Eichelberger, the Company's CEO, said, "We are committed to delivering top quality family entertainment to our visitors and are excited to show the people of the great state of Alabama what we can do." Alabama Adventure is currently open weekends and will begin fulltime operation May 22nd. Adrenaline Family Entertainment, Inc. 14. Some of the biggest complaints I have had about parks: SFA- on my visit in 2002 everything was running 2 trains, except for S:ROS. Mind Eraser's trains were going out with 5-10 people on them. Yes, they did eventually run 2 trains on ROS, but it should of ran them at opening. SFFT- On both of my visits (2002 and 2006) they were running all three trains, but they only had 3 people running the ride (Op and 2 attendants). In 2002 they were dispatching about every 4-5 mins, so all three trains were stacked, but at least they improved this in 2006 but they were still stacking because 2 attendants are not enough to check quickly (and they were checking as quick as they could). I even read about this subject on the SFFTnet website, where an operator said you can not "safely" put more than 3 people operating in the station. Give me a break.
  15. For what its worth, Forbes recently composed a list called "How to Choose A College."Alabama was ranked #7 among Public Universities. That school to the south, #46. Just finishing up my second year at Alabama. I still haven't decided on a major.
  16. I work in rides at Alabama Adventure. This is my 5th season.
  17. 18/20. Made a couple of good guesses though.
  18. Very few people are willing to drive to both in the same year. At least, not enough to offset the costs of building a custom ride over a pre-existing desing.
  19. Got to agree with the rest. Great rides, but its not because of the floorless factor.
  20. ^ Yes, it is Hershey's old ride.
  21. Alabama Adventure (Bertazzon model) runs theirs forwards and backwards.
  22. I think it is opening some where around June 20th.
  23. Well the "home" park is Alabama Advenutre, so of course its Rampage. But I also consider SFOG to be my home park, and for me the best ride is Goliath.
  24. I think I would have to flip a coin between SROS (SFNE) and EGF.
  25. Flashpass was a Burke policy. All Shapiro and co. have done was to bring more Q-bots to more parks. (Burke is also largely responsible for most of Six Flags current problems).
