  1. Goliath (SFOG) back on Labor Day
  2. Penn State is more worthy than anyone Florida has played so far. The goal of that game was not to embarrass Joe Pa.
  3. They are currently only 3 spots ahead of Miami OH in Sagarin's current rankings. It was also the first time since 1991 Alabama had done that. They tend to not play for style points unlike some other schools out there.
  4. It was good to see Mr. Heisman Mark Ingram back this week with 151 yards on only 9 carries. Doesn't look like he missed step with his injury. Never thought I would see the day where Alabama would put up over 60 points.
  5. Don't all Eurofighters have OSTR though? Yes, all Euro Fighters have OTSRs.
  6. Going off Jeff Sagarin's rankings at the end of last season Miami OH was 156 and FAMU was 167 so they aren't really that far apart Even though it was San Jose State, I was more impressed with Alabama than I expected to be. Hopefully it was the first step to me getting to go to Arizona in January.
  7. Well, Miami did look more impressive in their first game than a certain Reptilia team from Florida
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLA7FsHc0Zs Looking forward to another great season of Alabama football. Roll Tide!
  9. Here is a video my marching band (The University of Alabama Million Dollar Band) playing our most well know stand tune, "Basketcase" by Green Day. We have videos from most games we have performed at going back to 2005 on our website http://mdb.ua.edu/bandinfo/video.php My favorite shows since I have been in the MDB (2006) are The musicals of the Wizard of Oz show (2006 vs Hawaii), 60's and 70's show in 2007 (the Bands of America show, which also included most of our country show that year), Queen in 2008 (W. Kentucky game), and our Motown/Jackson 5/Michael Jackson show in 2009 (Virginia Tech). (We do a pre game show and 3 half time shows each year)
  10. Let's see: 2002: Superman:Ultimate Flight (SFOG) Ricochet (KD) 2004: Revenge of the Mummy (1st week of soft opening) (USF) Thunderhead (Dollywood) 2010: Intimidator (Opening day) Intimidator 305 (Opening day)
  11. ^ 1.) I have worked on a Boomerang that uses the manual pedals just like LaRonde, and the pedals do NOT pop back up when you take the foot off. You kick them down to unlock and have to kick them back up to lock. The more I read over the story, it sounds like the problem was with the pedal and not the restraints.
  12. I have noticed a lot of parks have started going to $5 or so a play and you get a prize everytime, basically making the game a toy store where you just have to do something stupid to buy a toy.
  13. All Arrow trains have foot pedals, even the automatic release trains as the foot pedal serves as the manual release device should it be necessary. I don't know if this could of happened, but I was once told by a person that had previously worked maintenance on Demon while it was at Wonderland Sydney that they had a mechanic that had arms long enough to reach the pedal and release it as the train would climb the lift to scare the other mechanics riding, but would put it back up before the train would release. If nothing mechanically was found wrong maybe that is what happened, and that might explain why those two guests left without reporting it to the ops.
  14. Stratos Fear Screamer had some extensive work done to....well, just about everything. Last season it would go down all the time and has gone down due to a mechanical reason 3 or so times this year up to this point, all lasting no more than 30 or so minutes (yes, only THREE or so times). I'm working on a "in season changes" update that I hope to get up sometime this weekend or early next week. Here is a crappy cell phone pic of something that changed last week until I can get the pictures from my actual camera uploaded. RAMPAGE!!
  15. Maybe....just MAYBE the reason SFA has had so many attractions removed without replacements is because SFA was overbuilt by Six Flags in the first place.
  16. The flyers can have great capacity...it is just up to the crew working. My 2009 trip to SFOG the crew when I rode SUF was stacking 1 out of every 4 or 5 cycles, and usually only for a few seconds. Same ride in 2008 was taking 2:30-3:00mins to load a train.
  17. ^SFWOA Added nothing??? They literally tripled or quadrupled the size of the park in TWO years. They also added several flat rides in 2002, and built a MASSIVE waterslide complex in 2003.
  18. Plus its not like SFA was the only park to have rides removed. Almost every SF park has removed rides without replacements in the past few years (ESPECIALLY SFGadv....the so called "flagship" of the chain).
  19. ^ Seriously. S&S didn't buy Arrow for their new rides division, because they sure as hell weren't building many by then. Just think about the sheer number of Arrow rides in the US *alone* and think about how many spare parts they must go through each year.
  20. It is at Alabama Adventure and is now known as Zoomerang.
  21. Hrmm....that Boomerang looks familiar, even in a different color scheme
  22. Yeah I agree...and while I do like the way the Carolina Cobra trains ride, I didn't have a problem with Corkscrew on my trip last week.
  23. ^ Yes, Yes, and I believe both of those things about Wild River Gorge are "works in progress."
  24. When the park was built they pretty much bulldozed everything. They did plant a ton of trees when they opened, but it has taken awhile for them to grow in. The problem with Celebration Street is all of the trees were cut down by former management because they felt the trees were blocking the store fronts. The shade issue is actually the biggest thing that came up during focus groups the park did at the end of last season, which is why they added the indoor restaurant, the indoor theater show, added the Gorge shade structure, trees down Celebration Street, etc. There have been several shade structures in previous years and I wouldn't be surprised to see more "cooling down" initiatives in the future.
