  1. It's the CF way. They painted Magnum over 2 seasons, they painted Steel Force over 2 years too right? They painted the supports on Talon one year but not the track, they've been painting Xcelerator for awhile. Say what you want about Six Flags, but they get rides repainted quickly. Didn't SFMM repaint FOUR coaster a couple of off seasons ago?
  2. I thought the one at KI was decent, although I wish you would have kept spinning longer while you were coming down. I wonder where Carowinds now ranks in CF attendance, since the big 4 all received them this year.
  3. i305 is just over 300 feet shorter in length.
  4. IMO, if the park is to survive they need an owner in it for the long haul. The two owners after the park was taken private both felt like their main intention was to own it a few year and try to "flip it" for a higher selling price. If the next owner isn't willing to put some money into it to truly improve its image I don't know how much longer it will last. Granted, AFE has put money into it, the parks image is always going to be an uphill battle because of its location. Comments like those in the article page show what many of the over the mountain types in Birmingham think: its dirty, too expensive, and over run with thugs. I actually think that's pretty far from the truth, but I guess that's the bias in me coming out.
  5. AFE has announced they are looking to sell the park. The article can be found here. Although the article does not mention it, AFE is also trying to sell Clementon Park.
  6. Always been a fan of the B&M mega coasters, so I really like the news they are willing to go over 300'. Kinda weird though that two gigas were built in 2000, it took 10 years to build another, and now here comes another so soon.
  7. I found the crew to be hit or miss last week when I was there. For awhile they would have one train going down the first drop right before the previous train hit the splashdown, but later they would be stacking all trains consistently. Actually all crews seemed to be this way really. I also don't understand why Invertigo, Drop Tower, Windseeker, and Diamondback went down for "lightning" yet all other rides (including Vortex, Xtreme Skyflyer, etc.) were allowed to continue to operate. But it was a pretty great visit none the less.
  8. ^The guy that did that actually passed away a year or two ago, IIRC.
  9. ^And CP won't be the only CF park to get this attraction
  10. What's worse to most guests.....a closed ride or a long line due to only one train being available? Most guests would say closed ride.
  11. ^ The comments on the facebook page were the worst..... "I've never wanted to go and now I will never go!" Ok.....thanks for the insightful comment.
  12. And that just changed this year. It's insane - I think my $45 should cover any run-down piece of pavement I need to stash my car in for a year! I don't have any season passes this year, but last year my SF was just under $100 with parking pass and CF was $160. I can see with that price difference where SF doesn't allow other park's parking passes to be used.
  13. ^Woodstock at Cedar Point also has these. Nothing like having to have a ride op unlock a grown man's seatbelt. What we do for a credit
  14. There were more people in the park Saturday than Monday, FWIW. The problem was with a group that wanted to cause trouble all day long.
  15. The park ran the same promotion every Monday last year without serious incident. In fact, several of those Mondays had twice as many people in the park as there were this past Monday.
  16. Yeah but that commercial should not really count because that was a national ad for all of Six Flags.
  17. I just posted some pictures of Alabama Adventure's new ride Buzzsaw Falls here.
  18. Yes Buzzsaw Falls has opened and has been quite the hit with guests so far. On it's opening day it had more than double the amount of riders than any other ride in the park! Landscaping is still a work in progress, but the ride looks GOOD, IMO. Here are some pictures I took of the ride and surrounding area. The entry plaza located next to the Balloon Wheel. Looking down you can see where the park opened up an old service road to make the plaza by Balloon Wheel. This really improves flow through the park. Walking up to the ride area. This is where the old haunted house was. Where the entrance and exit split, complete with splash! Larry friendly photo. Info signs at the entrance to the que line. The que line goes under the ride. The station. The structure is from the old haunted house. The loading area. Both boats Heading up the lift Lift again Both boats in one shot! Must have some good operators to send boats that quickly Starting down... Going down... Splash! Splash again! The splash this ride makes is HUGE, as the operators occasionally find out. One final picture of the SPLASH!!
  19. I spot the back of my head in a couple of your pics
  20. There ARE a set of magnets at the top of the drop, but I did not feel them on the ride.
  21. ^^ I don't remember seeing the LM logo on anything other than Media Day items.
  22. Got a chance to ride during media day today. It's a fun ride, especially the first drop and the barrel roll. LOVE the lap bar only trains. Not sure this thing is going to be "big enough" capacity wise for the park though. I can see this getting huge lines just due to that. Overall though a good addition to the park
  23. BIG fan of the landscaping done around Medusa as well.
  24. From my experience in rides, It was VERY rare to find a cell phone, camera, pair of glasses, etc. that was undamaged when we retrieved it. You might get lucky, but I would prepare to buy new glasses.
