Using the final BCS rankings: Alabama: #6 Arkansas, #22 Penn State, #25 Auburn Oklahoma State: #8 Kansas State, #12 Baylor, #14 Oklahoma, #24 Texas The SEC proposed a plus one format in 2008. The ACC was the only other conference to vote in favor of it. That's a Big 12 problem. OK St wants to throw out "they aren't even conference or division champs!" Oklahoma lost their conference championship in 2003 and Nebraska didn't even win their division in 2001. Both played for the title. Both from the Big 12. They had a chance to add in a conference champion rule and voted it down. That's a Big 12 problem. Alabama thoroughly dominated every opponent other than LSU this season (and many even claim the only thing LSU won that night was the scoreboard, unfortunately for Alabama that's all that matters in the end). Oklahoma State lost to a 6-6 Iowa State squad. They squeaked out a win vs 6-6 Texas A&M.

^ What about that "high offense" National Championship last year? 22-19?

SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread

An upscale outlet mall in that location? I invite city officials to go check out Watermark Place in Bessemer, AL and then travel down I-459 to see where almost all of the formers stores have moved to. -
This! Come on, even those of you who don't use a stroller or wheel chair know how frustrating it can be to be behind one. Or how the cast members have to move out of the way to let one in, it absolutely slows down the line. And as someone that has had to work a turnstyle the only thing that slowed me down more than a hard to scan ticket are people with strollers simply because of having to move around and open and close the side gate for them. Eliminating that alone is awesome!

I believe they manufactured the family invert at Frontier City. -
Not much standing between an undefeated showdown between Alabama and LSU on November 5th. Game of the year?

Loving the Alabama/Arkansas 10 TD's of 50 or more yards since 2008. I don't know what Bobby Petrino did to Nick Saban, but wow

My planning right now includes obviously the close parks: SFOG Dollywood And a couple of friends an I took a road trip to KI and HW this summer (they aren't enthuiests) and this next summer they want to hit up Carowinds, Kings Dominion, and Busch Gardens so those are likely too. I do need to get the three coasters BGE has added since 2007, so that's a plus for me. Other than those we will have to see. I would like to hit up one of the TPR trips next summer if I can work it out.

Ride Attendant Foul-Ups
CoasterGuy06 replied to UnderCoverDrummer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Oh I know. I've seen that too. The year the Elissa and Robb witnessed the baby stroller incident at Visionland was my first season working there, and that same year while working Rampage on of my "brilliant" co-workers at the time jumped across the track and slipped, but was caught by our third operator which is about the only thing that saved him from getting hit. Like Elissa said, that train enters the station pretty fast, and this occurred at the back of the station. Even if I had been able to hit E-stop in time he still would have been hit by the train. Luckily we have really made strides with our operators the past few seasons. -

^Was that added after the SFNE accident in 2004 though? One thing I observed last year at Holiday World was Raven was running one train (since the other was on Voyage), and as soon as the train would dispatch the operators would cross the track to take loose articles from those about to board, cross back, and put them in the lockers. Not "unsafe" per say, but a big no-no basically everywhere else. -
Ride Attendant Foul-Ups
CoasterGuy06 replied to UnderCoverDrummer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just to pint out, there is a big difference between a restraint being open and a restraint being unlocked. Older coaster that don't require restraints be down so far CAN be dispatched with restraints fully open, but they do have to be locked and would fall into place along the course. Being a supervisor, I have seen my share of foul ups. For some reason I never seem to see ride ops make major mistakes/laziness twice -
^Yeah, the thing about it that bugs me the most is it tells you EVERYTHING your friends do, even if it is commenting on someone you don't even know's status. I'm not THAT big of a stalker to care about all that

This whole expansion thing is really starting to drive me crazy. Funny how really one school has caused it all too.

Deep South Bash 2011 Official Update!

^^The lap I took on it shortly after park opening was not that slow. The second trim did grab pretty hard, but it still seemed faster than the POV. -

^I really dig stuff like that. When we first started keeping track of ridership at work I would post updates in each zone each week with the previous weeks numbers. You got either a congratulations or a better luck next time. I really like the guest survey scores and the stars on the wall! I think they were both great ideas. -

^^To be more specific, the darker beer was Sweetwater 420. They are a local company and have several different varieties. Last night was the first time I had had their 420, and I really liked it. -
The funny thing about suggesting Cedar Fair buy the park was they DID agree to manage the park back in 1999. IIRC, the deal was supposed to be for five years and they had the option to purchase the park during the contract. Knott's even gave away shirts at their Westcoaster event that year that included Visionland as a CF property. They eventually walked away from the contract because they did not like some of the terms of it.

The Golden Ticket Awards
CoasterGuy06 replied to FeelTheFORCE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder how many people vote in categories that they have no experience. The Falls at Schlitterbahn has been open for 1.5 months, yet won best new waterpark ride. Did people really get a chance to ride it or did they just vote for it because it's Schlitterbahn? -
Allright guys, let me start out by saying if you missed Deep South Bash, you missed out on some great fun! The event was a blast from start to finish, and the park was an amazing host. The best part about the day, was I didn't even really ride much during the day, and still consider the day a great success. I basically made a lap around the park hitting up all the coasters (except Goliath) during morning ERT and 11:30. The lunch the park served was really good, and between lunch/walk back and the EBT/ERT, the only ride I rode was a lap on Ninja to compare the original and GASM train (GASM train was smoother, but I have always "liked" Ninja). Between the two park presentations they discussed several things with us. Some of these include: -The Flash Pass was a huge hit at White Water and they expect other Six Flags water parks to add it in 2012 -While their 2012 capital is aimed at entertainment, as part of their 5 year plan they are looking a ride capital for 2013, likely a coaster. -When asked if they would like to see some old rides return, like Deja Vu as one example, "No!" -A second train from Great Adventure will be added to Ninja. -Visual Scans- the parks does do them, but they do not do the hand on the forehead method GADv uses because that is up to each park's Ops Director The park was clean, the employees were friendly. The park even opened up Acrophobia for us for night ERT even though it had been closed most of the day (did it even open during park hours?). The water challenge was INSANE! I've included some of my photos from the day. For some reason my camera has decided it HATES SFOG, so it died yet again even though it was charged the night before (just like my last visit), so I did have to use my cell phone for some of them. It was a great day overall and it was great to meet some of the people you see posting here! Ending the with 10+ rides on Goliath was a GREAT way to end the day! We are Here! The Monster Mansion walkthrough was very cool! We're gonna go out there and we're going to WIN! Any takers? Lots of boats! The line was full basically all day! So cool to be walking right next to these while they were moving! The tour was popular Creepy! Open wide and say Ahhh! SO many boats! No, thank you for letting go backstage Six Flags! Goliath tested for what seemed like hours prior to park opening, almost taunting us! I see you test dummies! Dare Devil Dive had a full line all day, or a walk on during ERT. ERT FTW We got up close to Ninja walking to lunch And Great American Scream Machine A train from the steel GASM now running on a ride next to the wooden GASM. More GASM hotness on Ninja Backside of GASM The original SUF! Superman....THROUGH THE TREES! Audit results Guest Service stars. Eventhough I get to do it at work, I still enjoy walking around coasters like this. Goliath, Through the Trees! Smile for the camera! Not Dan friendly It still amazes me how they placed Goliath in the park DDD is a pretty good ride. Anton goodness! All of us nerds snapping away! The Stride train was missing large chunks of the wraps The only coaster not running two trains, but they were working on the second one. Estimated wait times. They were busy. Once again, ERT FTW! EBT! A great way to end the day! Thank you everyone for such a great event!

Deep South Bash 2011 Official Update!
CoasterGuy06 replied to Hhappy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just got in. Best day I think I've spent in a park.....and I only rode one ride between noon and park closing! ERT was great, EBT was even better, and the GASM water challenge was insane! It was really great of the park to get Acrophobia going for us, considering it was down all day basically. It was really great to get to be on the enthusiast side of a coaster event! Thanks to Robb, Elissa, Brad, Melinda, and everyone else that helped put on a GREAT event!
