  1. The Incredible Hulk Coaster, just before midnight on New Year's Eve.
  2. Returning to Alabama Adventure for my 8th season in the rides department and my 6th as Rides Supervisor. The big change for me this year is that park services for Magic City USA is being placed under the rides department, so it's a new experience for me.
  3. My best friend has apparently made new friends he would rather hang out with and never speaks to me anymore. To make matters worse he is my roommate. Nothing like being ignored in your own apartment.
  4. Mean Streak is a 3 seed. Enough said.
  5. I can't speak for Cedar Point personally as my only trip was in May, but Labor Day is actually not a bad day to visit a park. Most people do other things rather than go to a park.
  6. Wooden coaster all have steel track on top, it's just usually a small strip. Topper track just takes that small strip and covers the entire piece of wood, so how is it REALLY any different?
  7. I like how they used the SFMM promo video....and even left the music
  8. Not surprising considering the buzz around the industry was Cedar Fair never wanted GA but Paramount would only sell the parks if the buyer would buy all of them.
  9. They had a Chaos a few years ago. There is a reason all the SF parks got rid of them.
  10. -Riding both Intimidators on their opening day -Standing in line for The Voyage I start humming "Yea Alabama!" which is the fight song of the University of Alabama and couldn't figue out why at first. Then I realized they were playing it over the park PA system. Always a great song to hear! -Universal Orlando on New Years Eve
  11. There is some connection between the two. The old Hopkins president Jerry Pendleton is now running SkyTrans.
  12. Hey guys! Alabama Adventure has released some concept art of Buzzsaw Falls that shows off the ride, its logo, and the plaza area around the ride. Some photos of land clearing have been osted to their Facebook page, and they say they will have photos of the concrete work up in a week or so. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Alabama-Adventure/78871446304 New for 2011! Buzzsaw Falls!
  13. ^It is in the USA section by Goliath, where Shake, Rattle and Roll and the Drive In Theatre were.
  14. I've never seen an off-ride that makes a ride look rough...lol The swaying structure of Rattler disagrees
  15. And what I don't get is they went in and added them to basically all Arrow trains in the company, but Iron Dragon does not have them. This allowed them to still operate it with three trains with almost no stacking when I was there in May, but it seems like such a double standard to say they are necessary on another ride in the same park that has the SAME restraints.
  16. I thought so too when I first saw them. They are actually 12 cars long (24 riders per train) which is the same capacity as the PTC's they replaced and is the most common train length for MF's. (I don't actually know of any MF trains that aren't 12 cars/24 passengers....does anyone else?) I think the bright colors of the trains (aren't they great?) add to the illusion that they are longer. Peace! The only ones are at SFMM which seats 22 due to the old audio effects.
  17. Here were the rankings I made for the poll: 1 Voyage-HW 2 Thunderhead-DW 3 Rampage-AAdv 4 Kentucky Rumbler-BB 5 Raven-HW 6 Legend-HW 7 ROAR!-SFA 8 Grizzly-KD 9 Wild One-SFA 10 Beast-KI 11 Thunder Road (right)-Car 11 Thunder Road (left)- Car 13 Great American Scream Machine- SFOG 14 Georgia Cyclone- SFOG 15 Hurler-Car 15 Hurler-KD 17 Blue Streak-CP 18 Racer-Red- KI 19 Rebel Yell- KD 19 Rebel Yell (backwards)- KD 21 Cannonball Run- Waterville 22 Cannonball- Lake Winnie 23 Scooby Doo’s Ghoster Coaster- KD 23 Woodstock’s Express- Car 23 Woodstock’s Express- KI 26 Mean Streak-CP 27 Rattler-SFFT
  18. I noticed the trains have individual seatbelts. Do any other MF trains have this? The two rides with MF trains I have been on (Kentucky Rumbler and Thunderhead) only had one seatbelt per row.
  19. So...how is SFGAdv going to do so well with Green Lantern if they can't send more than 2 trains out on S:UF in 10 min, and that may be generous many days. SFGAm is SO efficient with their S:UF. Hell, I've seen SFA send out Batwing quicker before. But I HOPE you are right, but 3 trains on a shorter track length than RR seems superfluous. CP does OK with 2 trains on Mantis, and they are about the kings of efficiency. But even they said screw it to the 3rd train. Cedar Point also unlocks seats for anybody that is not fully standing up, which slows down the loading process.
  20. The "new" Six Flags management has said they though Glow in the Park was a big mistake because it forces parks to stay open later than is profitable for them. How many smaller parks (on the level of SFNE, SFStl, or smaller) stay open til 10pm on a daily basis in the summer anymore? Not many.
  21. None of the mentioned rides are ran by a Six Flags park. This video someone uploaded from SFGam begs to differ: http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Superman_crew_app5 The S:UF crew at SFOG on my visit in 2009 was running two trains with virtually no stacking. What gets me with Tatsu is IIRC, the park has said it takes about 14 weeks to rehab one of its trains, which means it takes 42 weeks out of 52 if you only rehab one at a time, so why did the park not just go ahead and order 4 so you can make sure you always have at least two ready for operation?
  22. Not only did I ride the ride the night before the fire, I actually drove past IOA about 15 minutes or so before the fire started.
  23. Coldstone is actually one of the worst brands to own a franchise of, from things I have read over the past few years.
  24. Six Flags doesn't even own SFOG or SFOT...
