  1. It's funny they single out Greezed Lightnin for helping with the park's decline, when it was the exact same coaster SFOG's investment group sited as a poor addition when they sued Time Warner.
  2. My high school had a parking lot across the street students had to cross. To quote our school's police officer "If you cross the crosswalk and get hit by a car, someone's going to jail. If you cross even six inches outside the cross walk....well....you just got hit by a car."
  3. I have only been to BGE once, and Big Bad Wolf was the only "adult" coaster there that I only rode once, so that should tell you my thoughts on the ride. The big thing people don't like to think about is theme parks are a business. If you are paying a ton of money, which I guarantee they were doing, vs building a shiny new ride which you will pay a hefty price up front BUT you can market it to increase your crowds. which will you pick? Which will the park pick? BG has answered it for us, and it is a smart business move.
  4. 1.) Having never been to a park on opening day (except for working), going to both Carowinds and Kings Dominion's opening day 2.)Both Intimidators....one powerful and intense and the other one is just plain fun 3.)Finally getting to Holiday World and Cedar Point 4.) 53 new credits.....so far 5.)Finally crossing the 100 coaster barrier 6.) Solo rides on Beast, Adventure Express, and Invertigo at Kings Island 7.)Spending a few hours working the front gate during some of our busiest days. Nice change of pace from only working rides my first six seasons.
  5. I wasn't on it, but lets just say it involved a Pirate ship that wouldn't stop, one girl getting sick to start a chain reaction, and ended with a big hose.
  6. Doesn't Six Flags operate LaRonde on a long term lease with the city of Montreal?
  7. IIRC, when Premier extended the branding contracts with DC/Warner Brothers after purchasing SF from Time Warner they were only allowed to use them in branded parks. I wonder if SF wound up having to pay an extra fee when they started using the characters at The Great Escape? If so, this could just be them stripping any extras like Thomas and Wiggles instead of branding the park.
  8. One thing to keep in mind with on site perks is those same perks (free parking, early entrance) are also included in a CF Platinum Pass, so you can get the perks without paying their onsite rates if you don't mind having to drive to get to the park. As was said its pretty essential to use those perks to get the most of your day. On my first day this past May I was able to get two rides on Raptor (one front row), one on Iron Dragon, and was just stepping off Maverick right at regular opening time.
  9. My only real disappointment was Kings Dominion's operations on opening day, outside of Intimidator 305's crew. Yes, it was opening day but I was also at Carowinds on their opening day and they were polar opposites. At KD Volcano, Backlot, and Grizzly all had sizable lines with one train ops and the crew on Dominator was stacking every cycle while only running two trains. If the way their TL was acting was an any indication of his normal work ethic I don't see how he got that job, because he was the perfect example of a slow and lazy employee. By comparison Carowinds was running multiple trains on everything not only on opening day, but also Easter Sunday (which was KD's opening weekend) even though lines were non existent on everything except Nighthawk.
  10. Why should they have to know what Dramamine is? Other than the fact they should know where in the park medication is available for purchase, I don't see how knowing about different medications is relevant to their jobs.
  11. Q funding has filed a letter with the SEC where they accuse CF of lying about Jack Falfas resigning. It includes a letter from his attorney where Mr. Falfas says he was terminated and did not resign. The letter can be found HERE.
  12. Mark Shapiro said numerous times that Six Flags was not looking to make a profit on those lockers, they were trying to get guests to leave all their crap away from the ride. As someone that has worked in rides for 7 seasons now, I thought it was a GREAT idea. Guests carrying crap to bins slows down loading times, especially when someone wait until the last second and it makes other people realize "oh crap, I want to put my stuff in there too!" I never understood the hate Six Flags got because Cedar Point has mandatory lockers on Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster, yet you never hear people complain about those.
  13. Droid Incredible by HTC. Awesome phone.
  14. The park has announced the winning name and it is......Buzzsaw Falls. The ride will be built by SkyTrans Manufacturing. More information can be found here.
  15. I would guess Universal/Sea World might have a deal with B&M that could prevent any other Orlando park from building one of their coasters.
  16. You also pay a higher gate fee to get into those parks (and yes, I know Six Flags lists their gate pretty high, but very few pay that with the amount of discounts they give out).
  17. It's hard to join the Pac 10 when the Pac 10 doesn't want you.
  18. The basketball shot made by The Legendary Shots from Stratos Fear Screamer is featured in a new commercial for Flip
  19. Funny thing is Boise has defeated Oklahoma, TCU, and Oregon all in the last 3 years. And people say they don't deserve a shot at the national championship??? Well for one TCU also has defeated Boise in that time span. Also there are some teams that play and beat at LEAST that many quality teams in one season.
  20. Georgia? Apparently Colorado's fans think so...
  21. I think it's safe to say who the #1 team in the SEC right now is
  22. The thing that stands out to me is the eliminating of the GM position. Did these parks REALLY need both a GM and a park VP? I'm kinda surprised those positions have coincided for so long actually.
  23. Well I know SFNE hasn't gone and asked for approval to build the mouse yet, sure its just a mouse but still they need the approval. Canobie has opened things on July 4th weekend in the past, so it is possible, thats why I put 2011. The park has been hinting at a new family looping coaster for a while now. Plus being compact its easy to put up. I do see it happening in 2011, but not debuting right on Memorial Day weekend like most coasters. I've been hearing its likely going to be a Rage clone. Well really what does SFNE need to build? They still have the concrete slab for TDK (albeit, under turf for that football game)don't they? If so, they could probably get approval in Feb/March and make it for a Memorial Weekend opening fairly easily.
