  1. Both of Rampage's trains were painted black. They are still the same, but the one still in rehab had all of its wood replaced.
  2. If this were the case, why would management insist on having them do it? It may look goofy, but that policy is definitely in place for a reason. How do you know people don't take their job seriously? You have no clue Watch them. The look on many of their faces tells me they are not taking it seriously. I have a feeling this scan was put in after the Batman incident at SFOG, and the visual scan would NOT have prevented that seeing as the ride has an enclosed station.
  3. All it does, IMO, is make people take their job less serious. I feel the same way with the Cedar Fair "check" policy.
  4. Parts also get damaged during shipping and might need to be sent back to get repaired or even replaced (happened to Scream). Of course sometimes things just aren't ordered (New Mexico Rattler's train was never ordered and the park did not realize it until after CCI had closed up shop).
  5. Big fan of the Dundler Mifflin shirt. I wear mine all the time.
  6. Got a chance to ride Rampage two times tonight. It was running really well after a bunch of track work in the offseason.
  7. Top 3 would be Afterburn, Alpengeist, and Raptor. It's been almost 10 years since I have been on Alpengeist so I can't really decide where to place it. After those I would put BTR (SFOG)/Great White, Dueling Dragons/Challenge.
  8. To quote someone that was on tv last night "Roll Tide Y'all!"
  9. Also consider the taxes each park wind up paying on property each year. Throw in lights, trams at some parks, etc. parking lots are not cheap for parks.
  10. ^California's Great America says hi! Seriously. I wish people would get it through their heads that if Six Flags thought it would make more financial sense to put a Big Spin ride in SFA than to put it in at SFStl, or add a huge waterpark expansion rather than at SFGAM, or if it would bring them more money putting a Zac Spin at SFA than at SFMM they would. It's pretty simple.
  11. ^ Yeah I imagine Six Flags makes a pretty penny off of Flash Pass. And let's not act like Shapiro removed rides just to remove them. The rides that were removed were either old, required a lot of extra maintenance, were low capacity, unpopular, or a combination of these. It was under his watch that the deal with Baynum Painting was struck. Almost every major coaster that is 10years old or older has been repainted in the last few seasons at Six Flags, which is something CF has also lagged behind at.
  12. Cedar Fair just needs someone to bring them into the 21st century. Just think about how long it took them to have a chainwide season pass that could be scanned at the front gate at each park rather than you having to go to guest relations and getting a comp ticket at any park that was not your home park.
  13. Theoretically yes, but some parks have policies that require additional staff members when you add trains. From my own experience I like to have 5 or 6 operators when running two trains while we might only have 2 or 3 when we only run one train. Can it be done with fewer staff? Sure, but that can a daunting task on a hot summer day.
  14. ^I would imagine that even if it gets somewhat crowded that day, many of the school groups will leave around 4 or so.
  15. ^To a degree you still blame the park, but what if "better" employees simply do not apply for that park? It doesn't have the greatest reputation. I look at SFA as a similar size/attendance park as Valleyfair or Worlds of Fun for Cedar Fair. Since 1999 when it was flagged they have added 4 adult coasters, (yes one has been removed), had a big waterpark expansion, added a new kids area, new water ride in the park, etc. which is similar to the expansions at VF and WOF. The difference is most of SFA's occurred in like 3 seasons while WOF and VF had their expansions spaced out like a smart business should.
  16. Somewhere some investors were just saved from being Freestyled or Hard Rocked.
  17. Boomerang - Six Flags Fiesta Texas (Operating 3/13/1999) Carolina Cobra - Carowinds (Operating 3/28/2009) Zoomerang - Alabama Adventure (Operating 5/8/2005) Only three....but one of those I have over 100 laps on it Just realized I have ridden one with an Arrow train, 1 with a Vekoma train, and 1 with the new Vekoma train.
  18. I hate those new style maps Cedar Fair is using. Last year's just looked better (i.e. had trees)
  19. Buzzsaw Falls has finally been topped off. I have attached a couple of pictures of it below plus a picture of something else that is "new" this year. Buzzsaw Falls topped off. It looks quit good in its setting. Looking up the lift. Hrmm.....what does this black train belong to?
  20. Pretty much every ride at Alabama Adventure, but that was mainly during testing rides in the morning. -Howler at Holiday World -Invertigo, The Beast, Flight Deck, and Adventure Express at Kings Island last May.
  21. ^IIRC, it was only for the 2000 season.
  22. Opening day at KD last year was not good. Granted, it was a Friday, but things were not better Saturday. Volcano was running one train, Backlot only had one train on the track so it's line was really long, Rebel Yell was running one side, Grizzly had one train, etc. Hurler and Shockwave were still closed and scheduled to open later in the month. Dominator had two trains, but they were taking 4-5 minutes to dispatch each train (the supervisor of that ride was one of the laziest people I had ever seen at a park). The only great crew was I305. Anaconda ran both trains and had a decent crew, and Grizzly was doing the best they could with one train. Even if both parks are packed Saturday BGW is way better with their operations. I would do that Saturday and KD Sunday.
  23. It's disappointing that it seems every year one of the park's wooden coasters opens a month late due to retracking. Who ever plans the maintenance at Carowinds needs to show KD how it is done. Last year Carowinds had all attractions open on opening day running their maximum number of trains (which included a large rebuild on Thunder Road and track work on Hurler) while on KD's opening day the had several attractions down and several rides had missing trains.
  24. ^Both times I have been to the park they were running 3 trains. One of those days was a moderately busy day and by night the ride was a walk on for rows 2-8 and they kept running all 3.
  25. When I visited last May almost all the guests there were school groups. In fact, once they left about 4 I wound up with solo rides on Adventure Express, Flight Deck, and Invertigo. Diamondback had empty of seats on every train, Beast and Vortex had half full trains, if that, etc. While it might help push a few extra schools that way, it didn't seem like they are lacking school groups now.
