  1. ^I could have sworn it was running 7 car trains in some of the photo TRs posted at the beginning of last season, but when I visited in August they were running 6 car trains, but there were two additional cars on the ground by the station.
  2. ^They only have two trains for The Voyage. They sold two trains to Darien Lake which left them with one, and then purchased extra cars foe 2011 to get them back up to 2 trains.
  3. ^They still have 25+ rides to work with, and I'm betting most of the additions they make up front will be to expand the waterpark. That's the money maker for Holiday World, and supposedly was for SFKK too.
  4. Well it now seems I have to go 2.5-3 hours to SFOG to get a coaster fix instead of just taking a 45 minute trip down the road to work
  5. Assuming the Timberliners finally make it on to The Voyage, you instantly have two trains that can be placed on Twisted Twins to get it operating again.
  6. More of a 'sadness" than a "rant," but seeing all the updates from parks about them getting ready for the season just makes me realize how much I am going to miss working at a park this year
  7. Holy cow! As a B&M mega coaster fanboy....this looks REALLY cool to me. If only a park in the US would build something similar, I'd be very pleased
  8. I actually think this color scheme is good for SFFT because last year when SFStl and SFDK built their towers their colors instantly made me think of the color scheme for Scream. This way you have two tower rides with different color schemes.
  9. Yes. It's a culture thing. Granted, as America is a melting pot it has a much bigger base than most countries, but it does influence it. Look up some of Robb's videos from China and watch how they ride their rides. They hold on for dear life where in the US many throw their hands up. Americans are different from Germans, who are different from Chinese, who are different from Russians. In the US we have a system that allows people to sue for ANYTHING really, and that alone keeps parks from building/running some rides like they should. I know first hand how parks have modified rides because of people saying they were too extreme. It happens.
  10. AFE originally actually had a plan in place if the park had not been sold they were going to sell off a few rides in an effort to bring operating costs in line with the parks recent attendance.
  11. ^Yes. There are seven rides not listed. They are the three water rides, Rampage, the S&S tower, two kiddie rides, and the Huss Enterprise.
  12. The thing with CCIs is in order to sell rides as cheap as possible they cut corners. Rampage had to have a lot of additional bracing added over the years. Think about the amount of work some of their other rides had to have done to them. Boulder Dash had to be completely re-tracked and have some support sections completely rebuilt just a few seasons after opening. They can be properly maintained, but you have to commit to spending the time and money in order to keep them running well.
  13. ^That combined with the quality of wood used to construct it make moving it extremely unrealistic. It's sad....the park rebuilt one of the trains last year and never got a chance to put it back on the track.
  14. Bingo. I'm willing to bet the park has decided the ridership he has does not justify the expense of operating it anymore. It was a walk on all day when I was there for a couple of days back in August while all the other major rides had at least 20 minute waits.
  15. ^Because the guy that bought the park is just trying to maximize the profit he can make by selling them. If he paid the price AFE was asking for when they put up the parks for sale he will more than make it back just on these rides for sale. This is the same guy that claimed they spent 5 million building a used boomerang back in 2005, the same guy that announced all these far fetched ideas like a hotel with indoor waterpark, an animal park, a sports complex, etc. and said they were going to move forward with the plans with the money they got for selling the park in 2008 but just a month or so later put all the land up for sale, and the same guy that said they only sold the park because AFE approached them with an offer they couldn't refuse even though they had been shopping the park around for months.
  16. Well the rides are listed for sale. If anybody is willing to pay the $1.8 million asking price for Zoomerang they are idiots. 15 rides are listed for sale here.
  17. Even with Kinzel still on the board you can already see a difference. Heck, their GM tweets now. That was not something that was going to happen under Kinzel with the way he micromanaged the park. He treated it like his baby. That's not the case anymore. Even being on the Board of Direstors he is going to have much less say than he would have had if Q hadn't gotten the Board to start appointing people with no former ties to the company. It's a new day for CF and while you might not see too many things this year since Kinzel was still in charge when the capital plans were approved, going forward you will see a much different approach. Considering some of the stories I have heard about Kinzel...it's long overdue that he has retired. ^To add on to what 99er said....I know someone that owns one of the big boats like you might find at CP's marina. They pay a lot of money for the marina they keep their boat in in order for management to keep things quiet because you will often find these people are not only entertaining their own guests on the boat, but they do have beds in them and sleep in them. That's not going to happen with a coaster next door.
  18. ^New regieme, including someone with extensive experience with a company that not only goes to infinity and beyond with guest service, but the same company the really plays off their parks being destinations/resorts. Now which CF park is most like a destination/resort? Give me a minute....
  19. It's good to see both the new paint for Invertigo and to see them finally pull the plug on The Crypt. While I never got a chance to experience it as TR:TR, what I rode in 2010 and 2011 was such a disappointing ride experience.
  20. If you have small children please be considerate of others when you bring them in public. If your ~1 year old is going to sit in his high chair screaming, kicking, crying, laughing loudly NON STOP for an hour while your 3-4 year old screams EVERY single thought that pops into her mind as loud as she can while throwing fries, pouring salt/sugar on the table, spitting out food she doesn't like and leaving it directly on the table and you aren't going to do anything to calm either one of them down....EAT AT HOME. The guests sitting a tables near you do not want that kind of experience when they eat out and you server is still very bitter you left that big of a mess for him to clean up with barely any tip.
  21. ^^It's decent sized. Ultimately I feel like this is the death blow for the park. The last time the park opened just the waterpark the attendance fell FAR short of projected numbers. Of course, it was about half the size it is now, but still.
  22. ^I feel that way with all the CF maps. The old Paramount maps were much better looking.
  23. It doesn't matter how much your attendance is when your park revenues are extremely low. When adjusted for EBITDA CGA's is the lowest in the chain, even lower than Michigan's Adventure. From Cedar Fair's recent investor presentation.
