Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
CoasterGuy06 replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First rule about being interviewed on media day: always make the ride sound good if you want the park to invite you back, no matter how bad the ride may be. ("It's a unique ride, thats forsure" is much better than "Its slow, boring and rough"). So take their opinions with a grain of salt...especially that mans. Has Paul Ruben ever ridden a ride he did not declare one of the best? -

Screamscape is reporting the ride valleyed yesterday between the 3rd and 4th hills. Sounds like they may have the trims up too hard. -
SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread

SFNO was losing money pre Katrina. I just don't see how it (and even bigger than before) will survive post Katrina. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Marvel Mania @ Alabama Adventure last Friday -
Be prepared to answer department related questions (like if you are applying for rides "How would you handle a guest who is upset their child is not tall enough to ride your ride?" Just be professional when you answer. And please do not wear a gold sparkling hat tilted to the side. Your interviewer(s) will get a good laugh after you leave if you do.

They are replacing it with another wheel. -
The worst I have had to deal with was a funnel cloud passing directly over my house. It was an F5 tornado that had torn through two neighboring towns before passing over my house as a funnel cloud. It was really loud and at one point it sounded like it was tearing my neighbors houses apart. It touched down less than a quarter mile after passing over my house. We suffered little damage (a few limbs, needed our garage doors replaced but that was it) but many weren;t so lucky. Over 30 people died that night. Actually, it was 10 years ago today (April 8 1998). I was so scared whenever we were under a tornado warning for several years after that.

Texas Photo TR: March 28-31, 2008

It's good to hear Steel Eel was running great. On my first visit in 2002 I rode it over and over and was really suprised at how good the airtime was. My trip in 2006 was not so well. They really had the MCBR turned up and both times I rode it I thought it was just 'Meh.' -

Was Superman running all 3 trains with only a 3 man crew too? -
1. What do you find most useful about the front page? For me it is two things: To see the "big" topics being discussed, and to see any announcements that have been added 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? The only thing I guess applies for me is I usually do not scroll down past maybe 5 or so stories, so I dont find stories after that "useful" 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? Not really 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? 5 or so 5. How often do you look at the front page? I have it bookmarked, so pretty much every time I visit the site. 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? Rarely. Like maybe once a month, if that. 7. What would you like to see added to the front page to make your visits to TPR better? Honestly, I really do not know. 8. Anything else you would like to mention? Like any thing else you would like to see us add/change/leave alone/etc? Its all good As for the last question, maybe something like "Site Updates" and "Forum Discussions." Although honestly, if you left them as is I think it would be ok.

WalMart blocked in San Diego....

Wal Mart is cheap, so I like it. If you don't like the wages they pay, don't work there, its that simple. -
Worker at SF Great America Dies
CoasterGuy06 replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, I read it as a SFGam worker dying. What's so wrong with putting "Contractor dies at Great America" as the headline? -

When I was in high school our band ran a concession stand for the local AA Baseball team. The hot dogs sold for $3.50. It cost less than $0.25 to make it. And we sold hundreds a game just at our stand. Drinks were the same way. They sold for $2.75 and $3.75 and at least 85% of that price was pure profit. -
My only visit to Dollywood was on a Wednesday in October of 2004. The place was PACKED, but as others have said 90-95% of the people there were elderly and not there for the rides. Most rides were walk ons. The only ride with a wait was the train.

Yeah, but no one has thrown more attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns, had as many three touchdown games, won more games as starting quarterback, won more NFL MVP awards, etc. He was a gunslinger and risk taker and made a lot of plays out of nothing, which did lead to a bunch of interceptions. If he had had a stable of wide receivers like Manning or Brady has, I doubt he would set that record. He averaged only 17 (Peyton Manning is currently avg 15.3 per year) interceptions per year (Tony Romo, Drew Brees, and Eli Manning all threw more than 17 this year.) and he played for 17 seasons, so of course he had the chance to break the record.

He's one of my all time favorite players. I was hoping if anyone was going to beat the Pats this year it would have been him.

Photo AND Video TR: Opening Day at SFOG!
CoasterGuy06 replied to Scaparri's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I went to SFOG one day when it was in the mid 40s and it was COLD on the rides, even bundled up. We satayed for about an hour and after 5 rides we called it a day. If you can go on Sunday, I would say to do that. -
This is my 5th season working at Alabama Adventure in rides.
