  1. ^Give him a break with the "their/there/they're". Yes it is wrong, but it isn't difficult to read and I know that every single person got them confused at some point in their life. On another night, I like what you are doing with the pictures and story. Though it is just a turn and a little paragraph, it is building suspense and I keep coming back (and so do you ^). Keep up the good work, I am excited to see this done.
  2. ^That took forever, but I found it. I was talking about the construction of the F1 track and the construction of the Yas Hotel. Picture of the yas and track can be found here. Anyways, back to the coaster world, I was always under the impression that the coasters were designed in Switzerland and then fabricated in Ohio. Additionally, at IAAPA, I spoke with B&M and they said that the only coaster going to America in '10 would be Intimidator, aka look for it to be foreign.
  3. From my understanding, the park was announced back in 2007 and broke ground some time last year. Besides some major groundwork/dune moving, the only part of the park built and standing is the infamous Universal arch. I may be wrong, but if this park was to get approval initially, they must have their contracts with companies set in stone. Meaning, the contract with B&M would have already been set and the ball would have been set in motion. The global economic crisis hits, the park gets put on hold, and therefore the coaster sits idle in the parking lot. What I am trying to say is, it is not completely unreasonable for the yellow track to be going here since the contract was already made. Correct, but wrong. If you look at what Dubai was supposed to be and what is in the works now, it was a fail. However, Ferrari World and the F1 race track were set in motion and both are nearing completion. So in that sense, one of the great parks of the area made it off the ground and should be opening any day now.
  4. Live from New York, its YO GABBA GABBA! Direct from the Macys day parade this morning!
  5. ^^SeaWorld and Sea World are both owned by different companies. SeaWorld (O town, SD and SA) are obviously owned by BEC which is know Blackstone. And Sea World of Australia is owned by Warner.
  6. It must be thanksgiving because the title fairy has been awful generous the past couple days!
  7. I would love to hear a review on how Python at Efteling runs with the KumbaK trains. I know it is wrong to judge a book by its cover, but I just see a lot of places that would hurt my arms, shoulders, neck and head. I'm not trying to discredit them, because what they are doing is cool, but the trains look very "interesting" to say the least. Here's to hoping they are totally rad and none of us know it.
  8. Haha, that was awesome! But it already snapped! Looks like you had fun though, what other parks did you do this summer?
  9. This is a picture of me and ___________. I am also holding a Dive Machine pamphlet signed by ___________. I then had a nice conversation with _________. Hints: 1. There are two letters in their company (nick)name, he is one. 2. He makes my favorite coasters. 3. He is a pure genius. First person to get the name gets 1894329.2 brownie points. Me with ___________.
  10. Looks great, but the launch seems a little short, even if it is a tiny top hat. Just my opinion though, carry on!
  11. ^^^ and ^^- Ghost has it right in that neither of the previous models will be converted to a working model. Not because they couldn't (cause in theory they can), but because there are too many inaccuracies. For example, Insane is too close to itself from the drop off the MCBR and the final brake run. I wish, but it won't happen. ^I appreciate your help, and will use your models as inspiration. Like you said, the issue will be maintaining the right scale while still having it work. I believe your models are in the HO scale, while mine are much smaller. If they were the same, I would use the lift hill parts from yours and just convert a train. However, it is smaller and therefore I will have to build my own trains. I haven't started on the lift hill yet, so I have time before I have to make a decision, but it will be a big decision to make, so it has to be a wise one. I will keep you posted, all of you, on the development of this coaster.
  12. I was at the IAAPA conference all last week and will be in NYC all this week, so no updates until after thanksgiving. Sorry! Thanks for the interest! On a better note, I think I am willing to try to make this a working model. I spoke with a chain company about their smallest chain and stuff, and I think it is reasonable to go through with it. I say that because the styrene will be spot on accurate by its very nature, and therefore it should work.
  13. Up on the second floor in the main aisleway? I was walking around for a tour and had a blue dot haha. I would have stopped but unfortunately I had plush toys to learn about. It looks like you had a good time too, which is of course a good thing. We were definitely at Moser rides from about 2 to close. Those rides were a blast, so it was hard not to have a good time. And yes, though the floor was about to close, we were still having a good time. After 5 days of non stop working, it was nice to relax and walk the floor on friday. It is the year of a million dreams! That was the gift give away thing! Glad you got one! See you in O town in a year!
  14. Here I am sitting in the Las Vegas airport after a week as an IAAPA Ambassador and it all seems like a blur. Between the 18+ hour days, the constant working and all the stuff to see, it amounted to the best week of my life. If you have the opportunity to be an ambassador, you should definitely do it because it was that awesome. Yet somehow I managed to see Robb only once despite the fact I was on the trade show floor from before sunrise until way after sunset. Crazy. I still can't get over how awesome this week was.
  15. Titan was actually made by Giovanola not B&M. Still though, great update! Looks like a good day.
  16. So uh, I thought the point of having that beefy track was so that it can utilize the two support system, but it looks like that support right out of the station is pretty permanent. I mean, why would they paint a temporary support and have to deal with a footer and everything? OK, so I watched the video and he said that it was a temporary support, but why would they bother painting it?
  17. ^^Damn straight! It is Hannah Montanas #1 fan's birthday!
  18. Holey smokes! And they call red coaster a family friendly coaster? I mean, yes it isn't the fastest thing in the world but geez, that lift hill is awesome! If blue does that, there will probably be some pretty mean air time! I'm sayin' it: Those trains are hottt...and they have a nice roar to them too. Thanks for posting. I for one am loving this step by Vekoma.
  19. For starters, it wouldn't hurt to check out this list with common interview questions. http://jobsearch.about.com/od/interviewquestionsanswers/a/interviewquest.htm Now I have not applied at SFMM (yet), but when I applied at Elitches this summer I had two interviews and then a drug test. The first one was pretty easy with broader questions that they use to get an idea of who you are. The second was more specific about me, my morals, my experiences, etc. To answer your last question, you interview for what you applied for and only what you applied for. The law says you have to know what you are expected to do and stuff in a job description. But hey, a job is a job and a job in a theme park is the best there is. Only advice is, if they ask you why they shouldn't hire you, don't say "there is no reason". Oh ya, and dress for success. Good luck!
  20. ^I have yet to find B&M tagged anywhere on a coaster, including the wheels. The only time I have ever seen Intamin on a coaster though was on Steel Venom at Valleryfair! I guess I can't really say I was looking on the other impulses I have ridden though. At least I have my shiny Intamin tape. Real quick, looking at the Intamin wheel looks strikingly identical to my Vekoma wheel I have. Like completely identical besides the words. Are wheels even made by the companies, or are the metal hubs produced by an outside company for everyone? I see you
  21. Who cares about last weekend, I'll be in Vegas for IAAPA this weekend! So psyched!
  22. So from what I could decipher on freetranslation.com, this seems like a pretty cool idea. Each guest at the table selects a color and puts their order in via a touch screen computer. While waiting for your order, you get to surf the web and check TPR. When the food is ready, they are transported via the rails right to your table! I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty sweet restaurant to me! One question though, do they have a water slide to refill your drinks?! Bad joke, I watched the videos and they come on the trains as well. Edit: I second the visit it on Eurotrip '10! This might be the coolest thing that has ever happened!!
  23. It looks like they are using temporary supports to hold up the lift while they work their way up. Still waiting to see what they do for the apex. Is there any significance to the height of the two main supports? I guess I am pretty sure there isn't, but with them being the same height there might be some relation to Earnhardt. I can't wait for that first turn too, you are going to be heatin' through it. One problem though, it turns RIGHT! hahaha
  24. I walked out of my Macro midterm today thinking I got nothing better than a "D". I got a 95. Unbelievable.
