  1. If you are using a PC, open the pics using microsoft office picture manager, click edit, and then resize them from there. I usually go with the web-large version.
  2. Vekoma Roll Backs...I want one. Those trains look fantastic, the coasters sound awesome and I think they are going to be a lot cooler than people are expecting. And those mummy people outside mummy are massive, definitely seem bigger than those in O town. In all seriousness though, Vekoma might be awesome.
  3. I figured it all out. When it is cold out, people wake up generally colder than normal too, so they take longer showers. I don't get paid enough haha. Jordan "Late for class this morning, but it was -5" Darrington
  4. Wait wait wait, this is your first park?! It looks fantastic! Keep up the great work, you have done a very good job so far.
  5. Perfect! I was planning on heading out there for spring break and was going to head down to SD first, but it looks like I will have to pit stop at Knotts, a personal favorite, and then head south! This should be a blast. I might have a couple friends though, so I am not sure how exactly that works but I am sure we can figure it out. Heres to hoping Xcellerator will be open!
  6. ^Cables. Lots of Intamin Cables. Cables for supports, cables for anti roll back, cables for Rita, cables above the trees. That's what I'm talking about.
  7. ^I mean, that would definitely be pretty awesome to roll back without being connected but I just see that going wrong. B&M could design that, and it would still be a nightmare, now put Intamin in and...just playing. I love Intamin. Lets say the power goes out mid roll, and then the turntable stops, what happens then? Also, you're rolling backwards, so you wouldn't even be able to see the not-connection. Cool idea though!
  8. ^Right. This is a secret weapon after all... ^^I mean, I wouldn't call it a family coaster just based on those pictures, it really could turn out to be something exciting. However, I will agree with you, and everyone else, in that it is not going to be a huge coaster. If you look at Jet Rescue at Sea World in Australia, that is the Intamin 2 bar style track, and IMO that looks pretty fun. Two bar style, Intamin tire accelerator. Looks fun.
  9. ^And see, I don't understand how you ruin a coaster by changing 1/2 its name, and removing some of the medieval themeing, which, I would assume, is just going to get replaced with more scenery. Coasters are the same, the castle is pretty much left unchanged and they're still going to duel, I don't see a problem here. I think call the coasters "ruined" is quite a bold statement, and one that, to me, isn't backed. But to each his own.
  10. From what I can tell, the MCBR got installed today! About time right! There is a little photo update, though already old, on the official website. There is also some more recent pictures of the MCBR over at Carowinds Connection. Photos owned by their respective owners.
  11. Sent in my steel ballot! I guess I feel like I haven't ridden enough wood coasters to warrant taking that poll. Soon! 1. Manta 2. Goliath (sfog) 3. Favorite wood (Prowler) 4. Maverick 5. Kraken 6. Riddlers 7. SheiKra 8. Incredible Hulk 9. Xcelerator 10. Alpengeist Hopefully I did it right!
  12. I definitely just framed a Bolliger and Mabillard Dive Machine brochure with Walter Bolligers signature on it. Yes sir.
  13. mastersax- I'm glad you are following! Did you see all the other pages, there are 3 other models buried in them. hyyyyyper-It may have appeared steep in the other pictures, maybe theese complete ones will look more accurate. In defense though, both Manta and Tatsu have vicious lift hills. From the lie position in the station, you are literally sitting normally on the lift hills. They are steep in real life, I believe in the 45 degree range. Miley cyrus- Thanks! HCLcoasters-I agree with you. But if you recall, I purchased all these parts for Riddlers and then switched to Manta. So unfortunately I have to work with what I get, since I spent so much money, and these are just a little big. I think once the coaster is all said and done, it won't be so noticeable. Bummer though right! thrillrideseeker- You would! Thanks though. Well, its official, the lift hill is topped off! It stands roughly 1 foot tall! I know that it is kind of random, but it is a 1:145 scale. At this point, I will be calling the lift hill complete and will be moving on with the rest of the track. I know that it is missing the evac elevator, but I consider that a decorational thing, so it will be one of the last things that I put in. This is the week before finals, so it will be put on hold until next wednesday. Due to my position in the university, I will be on campus with nothing to do until next friday, which should hopefully give me enough time to get, say, the first drop done? No promises though! On a sadder note, this won't be a working model. I know that I should stop talking (my model choice, working vs static, etc), but I did speak with the chain company and found out that they do not have a chain even close to as small as I need. I would go with a coasterdynamix system, however they run in O(1:48) and HO (1:87) scales, so about twice the size of my model. Sorry. Please enjoy what I have so far! Until next time! If you go to the main forum page, there is a photo TR of seaworld. I swear this picture is in there too. Eventually the almost MCBR will be in this picture. Station, switch track, and the start of the lift! There she is!
  14. I mean, if you're really feeling bold, SFMM entrance with the fountains, revolution and tatsu always look pretty nice.
  15. ^ Freezing cold + snow + finals = I'm very unhappy. Do you have windows 7? I swear Windows and Firefox are bitterly divorced because they never seem to get along.
  16. ^Hey, maybe I'll run in to you on the slopes sometime! ^^I second what ^ said about terrain park. It is a blast but man get you get hurt in it. I used to be huge in to park, and started doing huge 720's over massive jumps, and then I decided to try one 900 and got owned. Haven't been in park since.
  17. Well as of IAAPA, I did not see a single thing going on on top of the tower. So I would assume that it is on hold at this point in time.
  18. When I made this thread, I was under the impression that it was a good website and I still stand behind that. Yes, the forums are completely ridiculous, but is it really that bad? Lets look at it from Cedar Fair stand point. The website is not the most complex in the world and simply offers some facts and pictures of each of their parks signatures attraction, some thrill rides and then offers a forum. This is beneficial for a couple reasons. First, if a potential customer is on the fence about wanting to spend their hard earned money on a family trip, they visit the website and see that it has a 200 foot tall coaster! But then you read more and find out it has Talon, a very large invert, but it also has Hydra! You're now sold as you see the park will offer, even yourself, some thrill rides while keeping your family busy. Just like that, there is money in Cedar Fairs pocket. Second, the forum is riddled with people talking about all the different rides. "Hey Joe! Have you ridden Prowler yet? The new wood coaster at Worlds of Fun. I totally ride warrior-ed that 20 times in a row!" "No Steve, I haven't ridden it but I have ridden Millennium Force. Easily the best coaster out there." To me, that looks like free marketing and anyone who has taken somekind of business class knows free is the best, and you only make profits through marketing. Also, a firm lives and dies by word of mouth, so by having a place for people to talk about their experiences truly does help the parks reputations. So what if they say I will out warrior you on XXXX coaster? It brings guests to the park so they can ride more rides and spend more money. To conclude, I don't see a problem from Cedar Fairs stand point. It helps a potential guest learn some facts and make a decision. It also facilitates a place for people to talk about their experiences. Two wins in my eyes. From a guest standpoint. You could call me the average roller coaster guy and only go to a theme park a couple times a year. I get headaches after riding too many rides but I do like to have a good scare. I'm browsing through the website and see this coaster named Xcellerator that launches you 0-80 in like 2 seconds. Come to think of it, I was planning a cali trip for my family and me and this park looks really great. I think I will schedule in a day when we will go. Example 2, you're just some high schooler from the Ohio region, I am going to go head over to the forum and tell the world I rode TTD 10 times and rode Son of Beast with the loop. I also challenge anyone that wants to out ride me. To conclude, it is a way for the general public to learn more about your parks and see that Cedar Fair does have parks all across the country. It is also a place where I can say I rode TTD a million times. For the theme park enthusiast, so what, I rode TTD a million and one times? Well, to many TTD is a terrifying coaster, you saying you rode it that many times could encourage someone else to ride it. Again, I don't see a problem. From the coaster enthusiast stand point. The forum is full of general public that have no idea what they are talking about and are stupid for challenging each other. REALLY?! Are we that elite just because we spend our time on TPR and RCDB every waking minute of the day? No. Sure we may know a lot more than everyone else, but that doesn't give us the right or privilege to start bashing them on our own forum. When I created this thread, I had no intentions of it being a flame war or another bashing the general public thread. I was simply pointing out that, hey, there is this website called Ride Warrior Nation that offered some facts and a forum on everything cedar fair. Which I forgot to mention, is a smart move by Cedar Fair in the day and age of everything internet. I'm just saying, can we give it a rest? We're not better than them, so lets stop acting like it. 19. 2am Friday- Quick Update! The lift hill has been topped off! The lift hill is still missing almost all its supports, which is why this is a quick update, so check back tomorrow...er today...to check out the finished lift hill. Plans were to have it done by tonight, but my glue didn't dry as quickly as I had hoped. Edit: Oh Yeah! The first picture below, the transfer track looks super bent or not even or something, don't worry! It still looks really great through that section, I just happened to hold the heat gun in one spot to long and the spine shrunk just a little! Fun Fact of the Night #1- The styrene glue I am using literally melts the two pieces together. I was just messing around and glued two pieces together, and then took them apart about half way through the drying process, and there was a big, slimy hole in one of the pieces. Dirty stuff. Fun Fact of the Night #2- If you saw too quickly through the solid spine piece of the track, you actually melt the "sawdust" (which is actually plastic, but work with me) and it instantly dries to create really REALLY weird shapes inside the cut. Viola! Want to know what happens when the glue drys slowly and you get impatient of not moving? You improvise.
  20. ^Hey man, its just a party in the USA.
  21. ^He'd probably give his right testicle for it to work.
  22. ^Try Vail. Nothing better than ripping down a wide bowl in knee deep powder with just you and your buddies. Jordan "Lives an hour away" Darrington
  23. I think that it looks like a fun coaster for sure, but again, just a little short. That is not my concern however. To me, the valley section above the station that is supported solely by two diagonal supports is the problem. I just imagine on a colder day with a full train, that that section of track would "droop" and really take some stress. Just a pointer, besides that it looks great.
  24. ^But I guess at 16 you wouldn't necessarily have multiple keys to put on a keychain. Usually seems that with more years the more keys you get.
