  1. I think every single park submitted, going to be submitted and ever dreamed has an Impulse in it. Regardless, it looks great, Eric.
  2. atem122- You called me a slut so of course you get the Jerry comment! Did you like back stage Viper or something? And I literally had to beg all summer to get that tape. Squid- I get what you mean with the 4 rails in the switch track. Likely, I won't put the additional rails on for the switch track, since a) It isn't a working switch track and b) you would hardly be able to see them. I am judging that off of the picture I took of Manta below, with the 4 rails. And to be honest, I haven't considered Architecture. I still burn to own my own theme park, and for that I am sticking with business/economics. With my park though, I plan on having a say in the vision I have for the park. And if that requires me making small models, so be it! HCLcoasters- Dude, a custom GCI is awesome and I definitely would like to see some pictures of what you have. How large are you talkin'? Thanks, I am glad I can inspire you! mcjaco- I think what he means with the four rails, is the four actual rails in the switch track. I just have the two rails going from the brake run in to the station, and do not have the extra rails found on the real one for when it goes to the other side of the station. I don't think I am making sense, see the picture below. I made sure I would be able to melt the pieces in to place, cutting takes forever. Fun fact though, if you saw through the spine to quickly, the plastic dust melts and forms really weird shapes on the cuts. I think Squid is taking about the actual switch track piece and the four rails that it has. I will not be doing that, no one would see it.
  3. And the Broncos are playing just like the team I, and everyone else, expected them to be.
  4. ^^The double track is for dual station. It will be single where need be, it is just double for the time being. ^Intamin tape on top of Vekoma wheel. I just moved around a bunch of stuff in my room and found some of my souvenirs from working this summer, the wheel and tape! I was excited, so I shared it here.
  5. KPWoCKAxX- First of all, it took me like 3.59 years to type your name and second thank you very much. This project is going to be awesome. HCLcoasters- Thanks! What model are you building and why haven't I seen anything yet? Vekoma Fan- I couldn't agree more. I mean, I am still satisfied with how the other three models turned out, but this one is going to be light years cleaner than the others. Something I really am taking seriously this time. Dbru- It will be awhile before this one is done in comparison to, say, Insane. Follow with me though, this should be a fun one! Flipdude- Thanks! The real manta is even cooler though, and pretty much is my lover. Squid- The order I build my coasters is as follows. Track and supports in material color. Paint track and supports. Queue and other decor. Trains. So the queue is a long way off, but yes the plan is to make it. Thankfully I will not have to make the inside of the building haha, and the outside shouldn't be too awful. When you say complete the switch track, what do you mean? The piece is made and hanging, it was just at the time of the picture that it was not in place. Thanks for following this thread! Atem122- You know I love riddler, so it is nothing personal. I ain't cheatin' on no body, just opening up to more lovin'. *que the fighting. "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" haha, get that? Atem- we match! Which coaster is your wheel off of? I think it is pretty cool that it is arrow too.
  6. Recipe for Week of November 9th- 1 Mid term in calc based Microeconomic theory 1 Mid term in calc based Macroeconomic theory 1 quiz in music appreciation 1 essay on Hawaiian repatriation 1 essay on something for Issues in American Though class 1 program (something I have to put on for my residents, part of my job as being a resident advisor) 1 ton of reading 8 days worth of packing for IAAPA Stir in all the ingredients and place in pre heated oven at 350 degrees. Wait 5 days and remove. Viola! One super stressed out Jordan who just wants to go to Vegas. This week is going to suck, big time.
  7. ^I don't anymore, but it gives me all the more reason to never buy it in the future. It was kind of cool back in middle school. I don't know why but those commercials seriously bug me.
  8. Latest Update 5/13-May 13, 2010 UPDATE #1- November 11, 2009 The station is about 90% complete having both sides complete and 1 of 2 switch tracks built. The other is about half done and requires rails and supports before it is complete. I will then move in to the lift, to which I ask, Does anyone know the lift angle? It appears to be roughly 45 degrees, as I think that is characteristic of the flyer, but I am not sure exactly. As I said in my previous post, this model is being built with a kind of plastic called styrene. I use a heat gun to bend the pieces in the place, and then tact them using a styrene glue. The glue dries clear and is super adhesive in small quantities. This ultimately will yield my cleanest and most accurate model to date. With that, enjoy the first update! Jordan Much better. This is the middle of the station and you can definitely tell how much better this is in comparison to, say, SheiKra. Stupid flash. You can kind of tell from this picture how much cleaner this model will be compared to the others. (don't know if you noticed yet, but that aspect of my models bugged me) Station from the top view. The front of the station is located at the bottom of the picture. From this view you can see the incomplete switch, which I should have up by tomorrow. The station in all her glory!
  9. TPR- I owe everyone an apology for playing mind games with you the past couple months. Yes it is true I originally wanted to do an invert after completing Insane. And then I went to FMP and wanted to do Time Machine since I really enjoyed the coaster and it was a reasonable size. Then due to lack of information about the coaster I went with another one that is deep to me in Riddlers Revenge. Riddler really did get traced out on my board and was ready for execution but yet another thing happened. I feel in love with Manta and literally can't stop thinking about her. So, the plans are set and manta is in motion. Again, I ask for your forgiveness and getting everyone hyped about something and then not doing it. It boiled down to which coaster I loved the most, and Manta stole my heart. With that, I ask that you support me and give me whatever feedback you have about Manta. This coaster is being built with styrene and styrene glue and already is giving me my most perfect model yet. Enjoy this experience with me, and Ride the Flying Ray! -Jordan
  10. Double pits to chesty. Seriously, between that commercial and the axe hair crisis one, I refuse to buy their products ever again. Someone needs to fire that marketing director.
  11. ^Is Jet Rescue at Sea World considered an Aqua Trax? Looks great also!
  12. No I have not. TPR Eurotrip will be my first! Do you follow sports religiously?
  13. I hope they have a sample of these trains at the IAAPA convention, I think they are finnnnee. Bring on the tar and feathers, but I am willing to put my ideas of Vekoma down in light of turning a new page for this company. Edit: Oooh! It keeps saying vest not brain pounder! Alright!
  14. Looks great, but I agree with Belgian in going with different colors for the tubes. I don't even think you necessarily have to go with yellow or blue, but something fun and inviting. I mean, the natural colors do match the park well but they just aren't very inviting. Keep up the great work though.
  15. ^Post of the day. That was hilarious. Congrats to the Yankees! They played phenomenally.
  16. i305 has OTSRs and that has a cage. Epic! Great find! I am going to sound stupid here, but do side friction coasters have upstops? The coaster seems to slow a lot at the peak of the loop, but it still doesn't fall.
  17. Swollen Members last night at a tiny little local venue here in town. It was an awesome show.
  18. ^^At least you have an iPhone. The rest of us got the boot from the trips for not having them! ha.
  19. Does anyone else have a problem with the Gerstlauer restraints gradually getting tighter and tighter through the duration of the ride? That is my only concern with this ride, as I generally love the spinner. Great choice SFMM, but I would still love to see a ZacSpin!
  20. ^They don't have to make a profit, all they really have to do is break even and make the minimum payments on their loans. Profits would certainly help, but as long as they continue to make their payments they will be good. Albeit two billion is a lot (I thought it was two, I could be wrong though). And in regards to why, they did it purposefully, it is not like their debt just appeared out of no where. A large chunk of that likely came from the purchase of the paramount parks. So when they did buy those parks, and all the present coasters, they weigh the costs and benefits and compare them. So though it may seem irrational to take on that much of a debt load, there was a reason behind it and CF likely saw some opportunity in those parks. Time will tell though.
  21. SUMMER-ISH TRIP #5-ORLANDO! Part A- Universal Studios Having watched them build Manta since they cut the first tree down and followed HRRR since the very first things went wrong, I was really wanting to get out to Orlando and check out these two coasters. I can't say how many times I have been out there in my life, but it is A LOT. And it is also the birth place of my obsession having lived there as a little boy. I checked out my schedule and picked the weekend with the least amount of work, which happened to be October 17 and 18, and booked my flight out there! I had class 'til 1pm and had a flight out on the 16th at 5pm and didn't fly back until Monday the 19th at 8:30am. I had a midterm at 10:30! Take that! Anyways, my brother and I had two full days at the park and spent them at Universal Resort and SeaWorld, on Saturday and Sunday respectively. It had been just a little over a year since I had been to Orlando, and on that trip spent a day at each of the parks (minus Disney), so this trip was a lot more crammed for time which was a big bummer. On Saturday, Universal closed at 5pm and IOA closed at 7pm, so I got a little time, in addition to some in the middle of the day, over at IOA. Regardless of the time, I got to ride most of my favorite rides and had a great trip. I will post Universal Studios for now and will post IOA and SWO later. I feel like with my fourth trip I dumped too many pictures at once haha. The RIDES- What can I even say about this place? For looking like it has no rides what so ever, it definitely has some of my favorite rides of all time. We got to the park way before opening hoping to get first on Rockit, but they let hotelers enter the park first, so that didn't work. Either way, HRRR stayed down for an hour after opening. I waited. After HRRR, we headed over to Mummy and got a couple spins on her. That ride is a complete package with the dark ride part and then with the actual coaster. I enjoyed the fire and the launch, making this one of my favorite coasters. Throughout the day, I also got some rides on Jaws, Simpsons, Men in Black and Disaster. Everyone of those was worth the wait, and a very awesome show and ride. If you have not checked these out, I definitely recommend checking them out. Besides the wait for Rockit at the start, the only negative part about this visit was the crowds. By the end of the evening, HRRR got up to a 3 hour wait and the midways were packed. That is the main reason I did not get to ride many rides at this park as well as IOA. To conclude, Universal has excellent rides and is a very enjoyable park based on that. The Grubbin' Having such little amounts of times at the park(s), food was the first thing to go in order to ride more rides. By dinner though I was starving and had to get a slice of pizza in San Francisco. It was very delicious and not too unreasonably priced for its size. On a side not, I did find the only ride, besides tea cups, that makes me sick...Simpsons. I am 2/2 on getting of that ride and almost puking. The Atmosphere Overall this park had a very great and inviting atmosphere. I mean, overall it really doesn't have the most distinguishable themes, but it still has a good "vibe" to it. The San Francisco part of the park is definitely my favorite, and for being thousands of miles away from the real Fisherman's Wharf, it reminded me of the real one. Another bonus of going at this time of the year, was the HHN decorations. They made the park feel pretty cool too. The Operations Besides Rockit being down for an hour at opening, they were very good with through put and friendliness. Jaws, Simpsons and Disaster had minimal waits for most of the day. And then for mummy and rockit, I went throught the singles line when available which definitely helped speed up the lines. Overall though, all the personnel were very happy and made the experience more worth while. Without further a due, the pictures! I apologize for really only having HRRR pictures, taking pictures of buildings is boring. If you would like to see my complete picture gallery, visit my facebook! Thanks for reading, and look for IOA coming soon! -Jordan To conclude, I leave you with a picture of a big shark. I have been told that it is held up by Intamin cables, so I was hesitant to go anywhere near it. Everyone knows the thing could attack at any time. The theming of the park was superb. Though it is not my most favorite park ever, I was very glad to go again and check the park out. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit! Credit #149 for me. By all means, check this ride out. Between all the crazy elements and the music, it is a must ride. Rockit from Disaster. I had three very smooth rides with none of that rattle posted earlier. Another cool part about this ride was the drop off the 1st MCBR. It was crazy steep leading in to the (fail) of the building shoot through. This looks awful like Coaster Diner. But its not! It is a conspiracy. Random story: Robb just posted a status on his facebook, and some guy posted a link to his group that was the one who hacked TPR. What is the world coming to? Hey there pretty lady. Besides the lift/queue, the treble clef was very photogenic. I was dissapointed to only ride it three times, as I was hoping to ride it more. I could also only get the secret code menu twice, which was lame. See what I mean about San Fran being the best? It definitely has a Fisherman's Wharf feel to it. Men in Black. This, and Toy Story, are the most awesome dark/shooter rides. I will also kick your butt at this one. Had a blast on it! Another very fun section, this time located towards City Walk. From watching this coaster be built, I could point out all the fails in real life. It would never be a true "top" coaster to me, but it was definitely re rideable and has some awesome elements. Take, for example, the non inverting loop. Nothing too extreme or intense, but still a blast to experience. From the station looking back. Overall I thought this was a very very fun coaster, and the GP thought so too with 3 hour waits. I experimented a little with some different picture taking. My Rockit virginity was wrecked by Rage Against the Machine. The Rings! They are real! Oh my... One of my favorite places ever!! It was good to be back. One whole year without the Hulk was killing me.
  22. Launches all day, so yes. Is the immelmann the best inversion? Fail by me. I apologize (\/). I obviously didn't read the thread title thoroughly before answering. Forgive me.
  23. ^Even if the trims are hard on the MCBR, honestly it is not like there are airtime hills after it anyways. I am sure you would get some pop going in to the brake run, but it still isn't the hilly airtime hills found after most B&M hyper mcbr's.
  24. ^It looks great! Are you free handing or using a computer? I can't tell. Regardless, it looks absolutely great! Keep it up!
