I would re-theme Garfield's Nightmare back into the Old Mill (albeit a little scarier). I'm pretty sure the majority of Kennywood goers would prefer that over the current abomination.

Six Flags Magic Mountain X2 Campout!
Kennyweird replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks really good, love the fire effects. Maybe in a few years I'll find the time (and money) to go to SFMM. Their management seems to be finally heading in the right direction, as evidenced by X2. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Kennyweird replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Phantom's Revenge on May 17th. I also learned a new lesson from the Phantom; getting hit in the eye with rain drops while moving at 82 mph does NOT feel good. Come to think of it, getting hit anywhere with raindrops while moving 82 mph is painful! -
Hersheypark's Fahrenheit
Kennyweird replied to RCoasterny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wait, each chain only has two places (those pusher things) where the train can engage it? Hmm... That's a weird way of doing it, but I can kinda see how that would be better (and maybe safer) than just a traditional chain lift. -
no woodie at BGE..why?
Kennyweird replied to cathyJ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, that's why unique steel coasters like Magic Mountain's Flashback, Kings Island's Bat, and Knott's Windjammer had such a long and happy life, while woodies like the Coney Cyclone, Kennywood Thunderbolt, and Kings Island Beast never have anyone in line for them. A GOOD wood coaster will often be the longest line in the park, no matter how old the coaster is. Huh? Are you saying that the Cyclone, Thunderbolt, and Beast aren't good coasters? Hmmmm... I'm sure a lot of people would dispute that. As others have mentioned, I feel a woodie at BGE would just seem out of place. -
Photo TR: Ocean City, Maryland
Kennyweird replied to printersdevil78's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm going to assateague this summer, and one of the things I'll be doing is visiting Ocean City and probably going to a few of these parks. Tell me, does Trimper's or the Pier charge you at the gate, or is admittance free? -

Very, very good TR. Hopefully Fahrenheit won't valley when I go there in a couple weeks. -
Accident on Wildcat at Cedar Point
Kennyweird replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How true Oh well, freak accidents happen and there's nothing we can do about it. I couldn't care less about what happens to it. -
Coney Island's Cyclone Turns 80
Kennyweird replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never understood why the Cyclone is such a famous coaster. It's not the oldest coaster and it doesn't seem to have a terribly remarkable layout. Is the reason its famous just because it's located on Coney Island? -

Well, the FTC has approved the sale. Now nothing stands in the way of the sale being completed. Here's the article I took from the Pittsburgh Business Times: -

Good theming at a SF park?!?! IT'S A SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE!!! Just kidding, it's nice to see SF putting some effort into theming their rides for once. Hopefully someday I'll go to SFGA, but I would have to be in the area for some other reason. -
Photo TR: Kings Dominion Dominator Media Day
Kennyweird replied to cfc's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great pics! Hopefully next summer I can make the trip down to KD and try out Dominator for myself, since I didn't ride it when I went to Geauga Lake a few years ago. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Kennyweird replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice photos! I'm going to Hershey Park June 8th through June 10th, the weekend/week after I get out of school. Can't wait to try Fahrenheit out for myself. -
Another Kennywood trip report - 5/16/08
Kennyweird replied to Philrad71's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I'll answer your questions, since I was there on the 17th, which was no different from Friday, weather-wise. Answer to question 1: Kennywood doesn't close their flat rides (or coasters) unless it starts raining really hard or if there's lightning within 10 miles. Answer to question 2: Yes, Ghostwood Estate is open, its been open since May 3rd (opening day). -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Kennyweird replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I heard that Kennywood is getting a new steel roller coaster for 2009 and that it will use the valley next to the racer (It's a pretty deep valley. ) Considering the sale to Parques Reunidos, it wouldn't surprise me if this turned out to be true, although I currently feel that it's just the baseless Kennywood speculation that keeps coming up every year. -

^If he thought this thing out as well as that article suggests, then there may have been no possible way for her to escape. -
I feel Intamin is the best manufacturer. The only reason I like Intamin better than B&M is that Intamin is willing to be innovative with their designs and take the risk that comes with it. B&M is pretty conservative in their designs and shies away from anything with reliability issues (*cough*Hulk*cough*).

What's wrong with Mean Streak?
Kennyweird replied to dammie16@vt.edu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's a Dinn coaster. Plain and simple. -
I'll tell you how my visit went before I get to the photos. The first thing I did when I arrived to Kennywood was ride Ghostwood Estate. Definitely one of the best interactive dark rides I've ever been on. All the targets worked, there were a lot of CGI's and other cool effects, a good pre-show, and a lot startling stunts and gags. As others have said, you need to ride it several times just to see everything. After riding Ghostwood I went and rode the Thunderbolt, Pitt fall, Phantom, etc. After doing the usual rides, I went back to ride Ghostwood again. This is were it gets interesting. About halfway through the ride, the Mystic Mover suddenly stops, all the effects shut off, the lights turn on, and the lap bar releases. Then Lord Ghostwood's voice tells us over the PA system, "The spirits of this estate are causing us to experience technical difficulties. Please remain seated until one of my personal assistants comes around to help you." Then a park employee walks up, tells us they've had an E-stop, and walks us out of the ride. He then tells us to wait on the loading platform while they fix the problem, which took about 15 minutes. So in a way I got an unofficial walkthrough of Ghostwood estate. Pretty cool, huh? The weather wasn't very good; it rained on and off all day, but it was still tolerable, and all the rides that were operating that day stayed open, at least until it started storming. But enough of this palaver, lets get the photo TR on the road! (O&A reference) I'll end this TR with a picture I took on the Paratrooper. Thanks for reading. The Kangaroo with its new lights. Pretty. Here I am with disheveled hair and soaking wet from the rain. Obviously I'm not happy. One of Ghostwood Estate's ETF Mystic Movers. One of the weird metal bar code things used to control the Mystic Movers. I took this picture during my little walk out of Ghostwood Estate. It looks a lot different with the lights on and all the effects shut off, doesn't it? The Thunderbolt's third drop. (I couldn't think of a better caption.) Kennywood as seen from the Volcano. (I know, it isn't a good shot.) BEST PICTURE OF THE PHANTOM EVER! Here's a nice picture of Swingshot. There was some guy marathon riding it 72 times in a row. When I rode it he had 43 more to go. Apparently the Jackrabbit uses up-stop pads, not wheels. The carousel. Pretty, isn't it? Here's another picture of Ghostwood Estate. WEE!! Here's a shot for all you lift hill enthusiasts. The Phantom's queue line offers a new view of Ghostwood Estate. Darn! A little early with the shutter. SEE!1!! It says bank, as in banked turn! OMG L@@K!!11!1 CONSTRUCTION MARKINGS!!1! They're already starting work on the 2009 B&M hyper! :sarcasm: Look at that awkward Arrow transition! and coming down! One of the Phantom's trains going up... The Waveswinger. I didn't ride it that day. The Pitt Fall. It's so photogenic! The first thing I did when I got there was ride Ghostwood Estate. I really like how they made the outside look old and run down.
