  1. Same designers who put in a heartline roll immediately after a 70mph launch? Someone already mentioned this. Maverick's heartline roll was a structural problem and probably wasn't very apparent when they were designing it and thus could easily go unnoticed. However, making a Norwegian loop too tall for the trains to complete would stick out like a sore thumb. I am fairly certain that Intamin AG has enough experience to recognize when a coaster design is going against the basic laws of physics.
  2. I've always liked floorless roller coasters because they're more open than your typical sit-down. But yeah, the floorless thing really only works well in the front row.
  3. Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril
  4. ^ Not likely. It would be an unbelievably profound oversight by the designers if they made the Norwegian loop too big. If Fahrenheit valleyed at all, it was probably just the valley you sometimes get with new coasters that need broken into.
  5. Yes. Have you ever been to an amusement park when it was closed for the winter?
  6. If I owned Kennywood, I would: -Build a steel roller coaster (B&M or Intamin will do) that will take advantage of the land Kennywood bought a few years ago. -Develop said land into a functional part of Kennywood. -Re-theme Garfield's Nightmare -Bring back the Bayern Kurve -Put a new roof over the whip -Buy an LED based headlight system for the Thunderbolt's NAD Century Flyer's. -(most importantly) Continue to provide the Kennywood experience we've come to know and love!
  7. No, they're not very recent, they're actually from march, and yes, those are indeed the old trains. Effects like this are costly to maintain. An amusement park that really isn't very heavy on the theming (like SFMM) typically maintains these effects for a few years before giving up on them, especially if they're a maintenance nightmare (or a wallet drainer). I see this particular one lasting only a few seasons at the most.
  8. My house is so freaking cold!! And it's all because of the crappy (actually, almost non-existent) insulation they put into the house when it was built!
  9. Awesome TR. I'm loving the sexy pictures of Griffon. I'd forgotten just how pretty Busch Gardens is! Now I suddenly have this urge to go there next summer. Hmm... I think I can work it into the schedule.
  10. EDIT: Never mind, Rollo coaster still uses manual brakes; I guess I got it confused with something else.
  11. This is absolutely pathetic... SFMM has some competition in the "craptacular paint job" category.
  12. Raze them to the ground and build as many Boomerangs as he can in their place as part of an evil scheme by Vekoma to...
  13. ^ I'd rather not go to Iraq, PERIOD! In all seriousness this idea will probably flounder before it leaves the drawing board; I can't imagine anyone is willing to spend that amount of money on an amusement park in Baghdad.
  14. I can just imagine the announcement they'd play in the stations: "Attention oncoming riders, please remove all loose articles, including hand grenades, IED's, RPG's, and AK-47's, and place them in the designated bins on the other side of the loading platform, thank you."
  15. I've always found inversions to be kind of gimmicky and magnets for roughness, but congratulations on losing your inversion virginity. My first coaster with inversions was Kraken... ah, the memories.
  16. ^^ I see. That makes perfect sense.
  17. Call me ignorant, but what exactly is a pull-through?
  18. So you can throw them better How now, brown cow?
  19. All I have to say is this: America's worst parks > Egypt's best parks. Thank god I live in the US!
  20. So that's it, then? Another decent but unremarkable creation from B&M . I'd be nice if B&M came out with something extreme and awesome like they did a long time ago, but I know I'm just fantasizing. BTW, nice POV.
  21. Somebody post a video of it testing! Please! Hopefully the cobra roll and Norwegian Loop will speed up as they break in the trains. Now I'm definitely going this summer! HP here I come.
  22. ^ Me too. The beauty of the ETF Mystic movers that Ghostwood Estate will be using is that due to their wireless, trackless nature it's possible to have multiple routes for them to take depending on your score or other factors. If Kennywood takes advantage of this capability and incorporates it into Ghostwood, I can almost guarantee that Ghostwood will be a longer ride than the Goldrusher by a considerable margin. Regardless, this should be quite an awesome dark ride and a nice addition to Kennywood's ride line-up.
  23. I didn't have a good experience when I went to Dorney. The park was mostly coasters (this was back when I was afraid to ride coasters), and people kept trying to jump us in line. Maybe I should go back there sometime and give Dorney a chance to redeem itself... However, VooDoo is looking great! This is another coaster I missed when I went to Geauga Lake! Grrr! ^^^ Those wheel covers are kinda sexy... in a non-sexual way, of course!
