  1. ^ Yes, ZacSpin's do have the same lift system. You can clearly see duel lift chains in the picture. I don't think we need to worry about the chain lift on Fahrenheit, the chances of both chains failing is probably about the same as the anti-rollback dogs breaking on a standard lift.
  2. ^^ I was at Water Country back in 2003, and I don't remember a bit of it either. However, I do remember seeing those peppermint twist slides and thinking, "Wow, those look scary! I'm never riding those." I do like the look of the new theming and slides, though. It should be popular with the kids.
  3. Intamin's OTSR's are pretty comfortable, maybe other coaster companies should build their own Intamin-ish OSTR's.
  4. One of the rules of engineering is to not over complicate things; simpler is always better. Maximum RPM's ferris wheel lift is in serious violation of this rule. I can see this weird lift hill becoming a serious maintenance nightmare for HRP in the near future.
  5. FALCON PUUUUNNNCH!!! Chuck Norris wishes he could do this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFtw7qW7Vcw
  6. I'm not surprised by Alaska's lack of coasters. The Alaskan summer is very short, not nearly long enough for an amusement park to make an appreciable profit.
  7. People do the most random things. Why on earth would you have the urge to punch a camel? Why? What next? Are they going to punch the gorillas? Like that's going to over go well.
  8. Check this out. Apparently it's Bubba from B94, and he is "sneaking" into Kennywood so he can be the first one to ride Ghostwood Estate. Probably fake, but at least it shows a little more of Ghostwood Estate than the other videos. EDIT: Actually I did a little research and it seems that they really did break into Kennywood. Luckily for Bubba, Kennywood decided not to press charges. Despite breaking into the park, he wasn't the first to ride Ghostwood Estate.
  9. It amazes me that some people will complain about the most asinine things, like screaming, just so they can get their name in the papers and garner attention for themselves. If you don't like that there is an amusement park next to you, THEN MOVE, otherwise just keep your mouth shut and deal with it. Personally, I find people who scream constantly throughout a ride kind of annoying, but this is taking it too far.
  10. Looks great! I can't wait till I go to HP in early June.
  11. ^ I know, but it was Kennywood who specified what they wanted. Halloween Productions just did as Kennywood ordered, so it isn't their fault Garfield's Nightmare sucks.
  12. Very interesting, Shane. It's very weird to look back in time and see people going nuts over a simple vertical loop, but I guess in the future coaster enthusiasts will look back and think it's weird that we went nuts over a 120 mph launch.
  13. That Medieval Times attraction is very similar to Dixie's Stampede. It has the same seating arrangement, heck, even the same food! The only difference is that it's medieval themed. Nice TR, BTW. It's a shame Movieland Studios didn't have any real credits for you to ride (unless of course you're Jeff Johnson).
  14. I agree. Judging by the video, it should be fairly intense ride (at least towards the end). I didn't see anything too wrong with the pacing. Lets hope they can manage the train stacking issue better than Cedar Point can manage Maverick's.
  15. Actually it says on their website that a little wind is good because it spreads them out over a larger distance (and therefore a larger market).
  16. ^ That's pretty cool. Obviously Kennywood really thought out this attraction and put a lot of effort into it. And to think that this is the same park that made the abomination known as Garfield's Nightmare!
  17. Is the pre-show before you get on the ride like the haunted mansion, or is it part of the ride? Also, does stuff jump out at you even if you don't use the blasters? I'm just curious.
  18. Orange, fluorescent yellow, and grayish tan. See? I was right. What is love?
  19. I'll bet you Silverwood's maintenance department is just going to *LOVE* Aftershock. Nice TR, Silverwood looks like a fun little park.
  20. This video about Ghostwood Estate by Times Online is pretty cool. Note how menacing Lord Ghostwood's CGI model is compared to the official artwork released by Kennywood. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cUBX28txJk
  21. ^Yup, that's the straight section where the chain engages the train. I'm guessing that because the chain's in the way they had to put the drive tires somewhere else. However, with the exception of the bottom of the lift hill, the rest of the ride apparently uses the normal drive tire configuration.
  22. Those "skid brakes" are just drive tire plates. See? Drive tire plates.
  23. This kind of thing, although weird, is pretty much inevitable if you consider the tendency for parks to store their unassembled track out in the parking lot, often near the main road. I wonder if this will make parks more cautious about where they put their track while they're assembling it.
  24. Very, very impressive. Kennywood has really outdone themselves this time. Hopefully this ride will make Garfield's Nightmare look abysmal enough to prompt Kennywood to re-theme it again. This is probably going to be the best interactive dark ride in Pennsylvania (or the multi-state area for that matter), definitely better than its competition from KD's Scooby Doo or Hersheypark's Reese's Cup Challenge. It also gives Kennywood something all-the-rage that Cedar Point doesn't have. Only a couple more weeks till my school's Kennywood picnic, then I can try it out for myself!
  25. ^ That's just too cool. Although I'll miss the Goldrusher, Ghostwood Estate should more than make up for its removal. I wish I could go on Saturday, but I have to help my grandparents move.
