  1. Here's a few of my personal favorites:
  2. Kennyweird agrees with Rct3man77, Pax coasters do look like pain redefined. Kennyweird would also like to note that this is his 300th post. (Seriously though, enough with the third person)
  3. I've gotten stuck on Splash Mountain before at WDW. It was right before the final drop, as a result I was subjected to the "what goes up must come down" song for about 15 minutes. I can only describe it as pure torture.
  4. ^Yes, boomerangs do have a nasty tendency to valley, especially in the middle of the cobra roll. You can find all you need to know here: Wikipedia article on Vekoma Boomerang
  5. Great, a severe storm is about ready to hit our area. There sure has been a lot of severe weather this summer, hasn't there?
  6. Huh. Kind of like a zorb, but less disorienting and nauseating. Sounds interesting.
  7. This should be nominated for a Darwin Award. While I have pity for the kid's family, I have no pity for the kid himself. If your going to ignore common sense and the fences and warning signs that have been put up for your own safety, than you probably deserve to to be die, especially if it's for something as idiotic as grabbing the feet of a rider. Sorry if that seems heartless, but I just can't pity people who ignore common sense on an enormous scale.
  8. Drop Towers? Aquatrax? Sorry, HP fanboys, but having seen the "2009" signs in person, I really doubt it's going to be anything more than a few new slides and maybe a wave pool, as much as you (and me) may wish otherwise. I really do hope I'm wrong, though. A drop tower at HP would be awesome!
  9. Oh well, I seen worse monuments than that, trust me.
  10. You weren't kidding when you said 'small TR'. Thanks for sharing, though. Hard Rock park really needs to get on the ball. If they don't improve their service and attraction lineup, I don't see HRP lasting more than a few years.
  11. This is just about the strangest bit of CGI animation I've ever seen.
  12. If this track is indeed for KI, then we at least know the color scheme: Red track with yellow supports. (You can see a few supports in the background.)
  13. Floccinaucinihilipilification!!! (Hey, there's nothing more random than one of the longest words in the English language.)
  14. I really hope Flying Turns opens soon. Why can't they use the original designs to build the trains? Are they too unsafe? ^ BTW, happy birthday!
  15. Wait, I'm confused. GIB's use two catch-cars, not the catch-car and chain lift setup found on normal boomerangs, right?
  16. 1: Lil' Phantom (Kennywood) 50: Fahrenheit (Hersheypark)
  17. I've seen most of these rides at full blown amusement parks, but never fairs. Imagine how much it costs to transport these things! That strange Musik Express-Catapillar thing is really weird, I've never even seen one before, or heard of one, for that matter.
  18. ^Holy crap! That must have really sucked.
  19. I don't know if we can really call June 16 the anniversary of the coaster. Some would argue that the French-built Les Montagnes Russes à Belleville or the Mauch Chunck Switchback Railroad was the first coaster.
  20. ^Yep, your right, those brakes are in the center of the track. Here's another picture that proves it. Judging by their thinness, I would have to say they're the copper alloy plates used in magnetic braking systems.
  21. ^ Well, the one I rode was painful. You see, my sister's weight was pressing my leg into the side of the lap bar, which effectively cut off circulation to my leg and led to the most painful ride I've ever experienced. I would gladly ride a Vekoma Boomerang 12 times in a row instead of going through the pain that Hurricane caused me.
  22. In, other words, they're magnetic brakes. You know, rare earth magnets, eddy currents, Lenz's Law, etc.
