Isn't that the guy from the Geico commercials?

How do you evacuate a drop tower?
bgwfreak replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When the brakes failed on Drop Zone at Carowinds it shut down the ride at the top. I tried to find the report online but can't seem to find it anymore. They basically got a cherry picker or something out there and got them down. I think it took about 2-3 hours. Since then they have changed the braking system and not had the same problem again. -
AZ State Fair so ownz NC and SC state fairs. Looks awesome. I wish ours were that good. The SC was weird, they had a ton of rides but most were duplicates...they had 4 Ferris wheels, 2 after burners, 1 yo yo, 1 wave swinger...you get the picture. Our coasters weren't that good either.

I guess this will be a good motivator for me as I'm planning a trip to CP next year. I still need to lose another 30 lbs or so. (I am an ACER after all). I hope to get to Jackson some time too, but that's probably not going to be next year. It just blows my mind that Six Flags keeps doing this crap with buying "OMGosh the biggest baddest ride evar!!!" and then it won't work. I'm sure Shapiro is shaking his head wondering what is wrong with these guys. Now I could see if it was just one ride like Kingda Ka, but it seems like it's a repeat thing for this park. Next time they need to get a reliable ride that can handle a ton of capacity. New Jersey gets a ton of people. Anything else in unacceptable. -

So Derek... How are the restraints on El Toro? I've heard that because of the crazy air that they staple you in really hard, but do you have to be like a 38 inch waist to fit on their trains like MF or TTD? Go here... http://www.tootsie.com/roll.html I really don't like them much, they are too much like really hard taffy or something. -

It's weird how they combined the other midway company's into one and now the result seems to have none of the Schwarzkopf coasters. -

^ Well that's your problem. This isn't Japan! This one was flying through the dips and such and didn't need any help making it through the course. -

There was a question about the size of the 2nd Dragon Wagon. As you can see in this pic the seats are very small and you would have to climb in as well. But most adults probably couldn't fit in this train. Kiddie credit only -

^ Sorry dude. I didn't think anyone would want to go on a Thursday! ^^^ Actually I thought this mouse was pretty intense. But it punched me in the stomach towards the end and as a result I didn't ride it again. And on the way home... No Top Gun! I will not ride you today! Leave me alone! Euro Slide? Do you come off it speaking French and hating George Bush? Ooooooh. Creepy living statue. They even had one of Monica's dresses. Ok, maybe not. Surely you can't be serious! I am. And don't call me Shirley. They heard I was in town so Air Force One landed. You can see the Clinton dolls are flying off the shelves. This was kind of cool. This was the 1984 Presidential Limo. Well...well (Reagan joke). Now why would you need 4 (FOUR) Ferris wheels? -
I am on vacation (or holiday as our brethern across the pond say) this week and today I headed down to the SC State Fair. Weather was perfect. A nice breeze and about 80 degrees for the high. The fair had 4 credits but only 3 for adults (they had two Dragon Wagons but one of them had the kiddie-only train). Anyway...here goes everything... Here are the full versions and a lot more pics I didn't post if you want to check them out: http://travel.webshots.com/album/554787862uxvEeU You know you're in the South when... Let's see $37 Million. Yeah that should about pay off my credit cards. I didn't know ACE was in town! (Well you knew it was coming eventually). Cotton? In Dorito's? No wonder I get the strange urge to find a field every time I eat them. What a boring life this would be. Zebra alert. Watch out! They spit! Well finally! This is a TPR approved PTR! Now for some of the animals. Big Bunny! Big Bunny! Inverter! This looked like it would hurt my shoulders so I skipped it. Sadly they had the kiddie trains on this dragon wagon. No credit. Credit #3 and my Wacky Worm credit #4. lol Skater from up in da sky. Like dude! It's like! A skater! This is the other version of the disk-o. After riding it, I prefer the disk-o a lot to the skater model. They had a good wave swinger that looked a lot like the one that used to be at Carowinds (now at PGA). I miss our swings. Can we have them back? I'll trade you Borg back for it! Silver Surfer was even there trying to spoil my fun. Woo hoo! After being too heavy to ride one of these, I finally got to ride one! Too bad it wasn't that exciting. It was all mad...and stuff. Credit #2 I'm not sure who makes these, but it was by far the most intense spinner I've been on. The layout was really different as well. They had a rockin tug. Didn't ride it. But I know these are very rare. So I thought I'd show you what one looks like. See! They were pretty good! I went to find the rest rooms and found these guys sculpting in sand! Credit #1! woot! I love when the guy doesn't even close all the restraints on the ride so when we went around a corner the one behind me hit me in the elbow! The NC Fair and SC Fair both share something in common. They both sit right beside big football stadiums. Resists making a joke about the Game Cocks (that's their real name). Thank you Mr. Signage. My Beetle was mad at me because I made it drive me to South Carolina. It even tried to attack me when I was getting out of the car! Sorry Carowinds. We won't be stopping at you today. Besides...you're closed today!

I love the small versions, so I know the big one is probably that much better. I hope to ride Skyhawk next year. -

It's hillarious they just left the remaining S&S tower without a top. It's reminds me of RCT when you launch it too fast and it flys off the top and explodes! Nice backwards TR! Were you going for the Memento effect? -
I never get tired of coasters. I do however sometimes get tired of the coaster community. Not at large, but the few bad apples get on my nerves some days. I mean how many times can we discuss "What do you think CP is getting next year? "

Don't know how I missed this TR. Awesome! And I managed to sneek into one of the pics. -
So 0-4 now on the Vus? I can't believe I got 2 rides on the GA one this year (once in April and once in August). I guess you and Vekoma just don't mix. lol Glad you guys had a good time. I might have to make it to NOT one of these days. Now that I think of it, we should change C3 to "Days of Thunder (Road)" lol. That would be a nice Paramount tie-in.

PTR: Dollywood, SFoG, and lots of fun!
bgwfreak replied to 65skylark's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok this is really bizarre, Ted has never got the Deja Vu credit and I got to ride it twice this year (on two different dates). I guess Vu doesn't like Spring of Fall. Is it just me or does this remind anyone of that weird looking modern building in Paris? Maybe Dollywood is going to bury Mary Magdeline under it. (Go read DaVinci Code if you don't get the joke). -
