  1. One of the weirdest things I remember hearing a "GP" say was on Kong at SFDK. Whoever I was with that day didn't want to ride Kong with me so I got put with some random stranger who didn't have someone to go with. As we're going up the lift hill, I heard the guy mutter, "Swarzkopf" to himself. I was so shocked to hear it from some random person because I'm so used to the usual GP-isms. After the ride, the guy went off somewhere else and I never asked him if he was an enthusiast and/or why he said "Swarzkopf".
  2. During our Q&A at SFDK, the guy there did mention that it will always be Marine World in many people's hearts (referring to those who grew up with Marine World). It warmed my heart to hear that. I understand why they changed the name, but it will always be Marine World to me. EDIT: I forgot which thread I was in and got off-topic. Moving this to the SFDK thread.
  3. It does go down the closer it gets to the lake. That idea picture posted is a very good one except that it's right by the lake, so the height limit would be something like 50'. There was something really interesting said at Bay Area Bash and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the height restriction can be negotiated with the county. It sounds like SFDK *could* get a coaster taller than 150' (or a taller ride in the back toward the lake), but it would take a lot of paperwork and approval by the county. I doubt anything would be worked out already for 2012, but it's a good hope for the future of the park.
  4. I agree with everything people have said about this. But it still makes me LOL inside when someone says, "I'm going to Six Flags?" "which one?" "There's more than one??!?? " I guess it's an honest mistake for non-enthusiasts, but it's just funny to me. Also I've been calling SFDK "Six Flags" because the term "Marine World" is getting more and more lost, and I still kinda refuse to call it Discovery Kingdom. And I call SFMM, "Magic Mountain". I've known some people who didn't realize SFMM was a Six Flags.
  5. THIS. but... This. I really would like to see a coaster go into that spot, but I doubt they'll do anything with it for a few more years at least. It's been rotting there for a while already and I haven't heard even ghosts of rumors about plans for it. You guys are probably right about the new ride going in the Pandemonium spot, and that isn't too bad because at least it should be quite visible to the freeway. It'd be really cool if they could do something semi-compact and actually have the coaster go over the walkway to the main entrance (like V2 does) and have some elements by Medusa/Oasis Plaza. But even a compact Eurofighter should be totally awesome. I'm definitely counting down the days to the announcement.
  6. Honestly, a Eurofighter would be the best thing for them and pretty logical as well. It'd be completely new to the West Coast so it'd probably draw a fair amount of thrill seekers to ride it. When we were in the park for SFDK Day this year I really felt like they were hinting at a new coaster for 2012 during the Q&A session. Plus, not sure if it means anything, but my friend and I overheard two suited important-looking guys talking about coasters. I couldn't hear everything but I heard them talking about a cool thrill ride in Georgia and something about cool fire. Hmmm: I know, it's a long stretch, but maybe they were talking about the new thing for 2012? However, if they do get a Eurofighter, I'd prefer they didn't put it in the old Pandemonium spot. They mentioned plans for the old 3D theater but wouldn't say anything about when or what. That spot would be awesome for a coaster esp. with all of the landscaping left from Dinosphere. Plus, they could probably devise a way to have the queue open into Oasis plaza. But most likely, they probably would just plop the ride in Pandemonium's old spot.
  7. I would love something like that at SFMM, but with Superman (especially if one side is supposed to be turned back around again) I think it would be too redundant. But who knows, with all these similar coasters popping up at parks for 2012, anything could happen. I thought adding GL was redundant when they already have X2. IMO, redundancy is permissible if the new coaster is significantly bigger or better than the older one. I could see SFMM getting something super tall or fast like KK to regain their coaster title and break a new record or two as well. The question is whether or not they should [for 2012]. SFMM has gotten a lot of big coasters in the last decade and not too many smaller, family-style coasters. I wouldn't be surprised if they relocated Pandemonium to SFMM as an attempt to even things out a bit.
  8. I'll have to say Thousand Foot Krutch because I'll probably always love them and they just get better and better. Trevor McNevan= But other bands that I really love that are up at the top: Anberlin Family Force 5 Showbread Red Oh, Sleeper Circle Takes the Square Eisbrecher (though not so much anymore) Although, if you ask me what my all-time favorite album is, I'd say Anorexia and Nervosa by Showbread. They were dual-released albums with a read-along story pamphlet. Truly epic. I'm not sure if the band will ever reach the superiority they reached with those albums.
  9. Going to an amusement park where all rides get closed because of bad weather. What's worse than getting bugs in the face sitting in the front of a fast coaster?
  10. I disagree that anyone can see that an SLC going 200mph is ridiculous. How many people have *seen* something going 200mph on the ground? They might not realize how fast that really is and quite frankly going 65mph on the right thing (see test tracks outside segment) can seem CONSIDERABLY faster. Couple that with the excitement of the ride, possibly being in the front seat, etc. I just think we shouldn't get so wrapped up in stats that we forget that the point of rides is to HAVE FUN. If someone thinks a coaster goes 200 mph - who cares! That means it was a memorable, fun and a little scary experience for them - not that they are stupid. I agree, but it bugs me when people INSIST they are right because they heard something from some obscure place or made an incorrect observation. It's understandable if they think a coaster is taller than it is or faster than it is, but when someone tries to correct them and they refuse to believe the truth... that's a different story.
  11. ^^LOL, one can only hope! I honestly think SFDK should take Boomerang out. It does nothing for the park and that area could prove useful for adding a new coaster. Boomerang currently lies behind Kong and adjacent to the old IWERKS theater (with Tazmanian kinda in between the two areas a little). It'd be the perfect place to add a new coaster and no one would really miss Boomerang. I thought Deja Vu was underrated too, though. Deja Vu is certainly better than any other Boomerang/Invertigo clone by FAR. I hated waiting in line for it (esp. when it had troubles halfway through) but I think it was worth the wait. Too bad... I'm just glad they're not demolishing it.
  12. Um, it does? You need a better imagination... it's a donkey that fell into a vat of bubbling acidic nuclear waste... can't you tell?
  13. I'm disappointed there are not more pictures of coaster tats... I've been mentally developing an epic idea in my mind of my next tat, but my biggest problem is finding the money. The guy quoted me about $500 but I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up more. It's going to span across most of the top of my back between the shoulders and somehow incorporate different colors and styles of coasters. I'm not sure which coasters/colors/styles are all going to be there, but I do know that at least some part of it is going to have Medusa from SFDK since that really was my first coaster. Whenever I finally save the money and get it, you all are going to be jealous.
  14. ^Wants whoever I have in my basement V Has a 2-story house but no basement either
  15. Thousand Foot Krutch/Mercy Me/a bunch of others at The Rock n' Worship Roadshow in Sacramento in March. The other bands were kinda cool but I really only cared about TFK because they're my favorite band. I got to meet them and get autographs too.
  16. Never been on Diamondback so I'll say Nitro Millennium Force or Bizzaro (SFNE)?
  17. Sometimes, but I never get up out of bed just to have a snack. Do you frequently remember your dreams?
  18. Off to SoCal tomorrow for a few days! I'm going to be visiting 2 colleges that I'm hoping to transfer to next year, visiting a relative, and going to the beach with my dad and sister. Hopefully I won't burnout with this because I'm really excited!
  19. I don't know how often I go, "I'll get online while I watch this Netflix movie" and then realize that I've watched like 2 minutes of the movie when it's an hour in. This movie looks interesting but it's too late now to pay attention.
  20. I never get sick on coasters but this year at the fair I started to feel nauseous on a few of the rides and had to take frequent breaks. Same with my friend who came to SFDK with me this year. Fair rides are very limited about what they can do and most of them go in tight dizzying circles. Plus, fair rides usually don't have a very long wait so it's easy to pop between rides quickly. Your friend will probably be fine on the coasters. Maybe make sure to drink plenty of water, don't have a lot of greasy food, and don't go on a bunch of coasters directly after eating. Take it slow to see how your friend will feel.
  21. Well you probably know your group better than anyone. Define, "bad"? I'm guessing that you've probably been to amusement parks before on your own, so you probably know what kinds of things to expect from going to a park. I've been to parks with Christian youth groups and it worked out fine. It just depends on what the event is supposed to be. Talk to your leaders and other group members about it.
  22. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't know. My bad for trying to guess.
  23. ^^Coming from a guy. But I do admit, I find it hilarious when I'm with girls who freak out about scary movies and/or rides. But then it just gets annoying if I can't convince the person to do them with me anyway. My ideal Haunt group would probably be my brother because he's got a great sense of humor and isn't scared easily, and one or two of my girl friends that we could laugh at when they freak out. But I'd hate to go with someone who chickens out on me. I'd be fine going into the mazes as long as I knew the person with me would stick with it as long as I did.
  24. I thought of that to, but I'm too afraid at this point to hope for anything like that. But I seem to remember that most of those are less than 150 feet. Plus, they'd probably take up less space because of the vertical lift hills, and there are none so far on the west coast. It'd be awesome if SFDK became the first.
