Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually kinda like compacted parks. Or rather, compacted coaster areas. If there are several coasters in one area, it's a lot easier to get off of one and go to the other. When I have to walk like a half mile to get to each ride, I just get tired out a lot easier and then the rides are more "I FINALLY get to sit down now!" instead of "Wow this is exciting!" The main downside is the crowding. That part of Cedar Point sucked. Tons of people in the same area walking in all different directions... O.o -
All of the refurb coasters I've been on, I never went on before the refurbs. Like I rode X2 the year they made it X2 and from what I've heard, the refurb is MUCH better. X2 is one of my favorite coasters. I never rode V2 before they took the height down and made the 2nd spike 45 degrees... I rode a clone of it at Cedar Point... Neither were really spectacular, but they are both very different rides. I think I prefer V2 because of the 45 degree barrel roll with a great view in the front row.

Club TPR Even MORE AWESOME in 2011!
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Do you have to renew your membership every year? Or is the fee a life membership?? Either way, I'm asking for a membership for my b-day in November or for Christmas! Or I'll just do it myself whenever I get a job... -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm pretty sure I haven't been to an amusement park since last August... so it was X2 at SFMM. Great coaster. One of my favorites! EDIT: it's been too long... I need to get to a park ASAP!! -
The restraints on Sky Screamer do locking place, it wouldn't make sense if they didn't. That's what I thought. It just looked like they didn't. Even though it sucks that Sky Screamer can't be as tall as the others, I think it was an overall good decision. SFDK is one of the few parks that didn't have some sort of tower ride at the park. And they don't take as much space as a different ride would. I always worry about SFDK running out of space to add new things to the park. Any guess about what they're going to do with the space that the 3D theater used to be at? It seems too small of an area to put a coaster, but one can still hope. Green Lantern is pretty small....

What's your favorite Flat ride?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I absolutely love drop rides. The taller, the better. The initial drop and weightlessness is excitingly scary! Those sky swing/sky coaster things are pretty fun, but the cost of them is ridiculous. Of course the Zipper at the fair is awesomely fun. Can never get enough of them. -
I definitely think it should be updated. You could figure out a way to keep the two columns but make it look more modern easier to read. It looks really busy and dizzying as it is. What about something like the page for Six Flags does? Where there are 6 featured articles/pages and they change after a few seconds. But there's a bar on the side where you can click to change the feature or go back to one that you'd like to read more about. You could have two of those side-by-side with the new news and the featured news.

TPR Bay Area Weekend - SFDK/CGA
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Really? From my experience it's the complete opposite. I'm a little biased towards SFDK, but the crowds are better (the CGA crowds seem more like boisterous teenagers) and the coasters are smoother and more fun. Also there are a lot more things to do for people who don't like rides or for young kids who aren't tall enough to ride. It has it's faults, but I was not impressed with CGA at all when I went there several years back. And it doesn't seem like it's made any improvements since then. -
Does anyone know if the SkyScreamer has a weight limit? My brother is over 300lbs and about 6'2''. They went to SFDK recently (but before SkyScreamer opened) and he wasn't allowed to ride on V2 or Roar and had to sit in special seats in Medusa. Also, do the restraints on SkyScreamer lock in place? It looks like someone could easily get out of them. Just what SFDK doesn't need: a lawsuit because someone climbed out and fell 150 ft. *knocks on wood*

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've heard this one MULTIPLE times. Person: "We're going to Six Flags this weekend!" Me: "Which one?" Person: "There's more than one Six Flags?" And they always seem super shocked when I explain to them that there are lots of Six Flags, not just in CA, not just in the US, but also in a few international locations. And I think there have been a few times when someone thought that Marine World and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom were different parks. -
Pretty much all of the lines at Cedar Point when we went in the summer of '09 were really long. They somehow got the line to seem like it was moving fast (by taking about 50 people at a time up into the station). It still took 1-2 hours per coaster. Thankfully, there were shade covers over the lines so it wasn't TOO hot. But it was really boring and it made me appreciate the stupid little programs Six Flags has on their little TVs. Although, seeing the same program with the skateboarders wiping out in the X2 line got really old really fast.

TPR Bay Area Weekend - SFDK/CGA
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think part of it is the geography of NorCal. The population is a lot more spread out than SoCal. I'd say most people in SoCal live an hour or two away from a major park. I live 5 hours away from SFDK and further from CGA. It takes major planning and money for my family to get to a park. There's the driving, at least one night in a motel, and food costs for that time. Even with a season pass, it costs several hundred dollars extra for us to go. I definitely am interested in going, but it depends on whether I can come up with the money to go. I'd be more likely to go to SFDK because I'm hoping to try and get to SFMM sometime this year to ride Green Lantern and I could get a season pass to go to both. I also suck at driving long-distances by myself (anywhere over 2 hours of driving), so I probably couldn't go unless I had someone to ride-share with. -
I'm not really sure what my avatar is... but I thought it was weird and if you use your imagination it kinda looks like a donkey...

CARS! The Car Super Thread

They do look pretty weird. I would never want a Prius but the Honda hybrids look nice. But maybe I'm just biased? I love Hondas... -
The other day I heard someone playing some really cool electronic/dubstep/bass music the other day (I'm not really sure about the classifications, but I think it was dubstep or something similar) and I decided to try and find it. I downloaded the two Skrillex albums and I really like them. but does anyone have any other recommendations? I really like the hard bass electronic sound.

What is your local park?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Right now I don't live within a close distance of any park, but I used to live about an hour from Six Flags Marine World (Discovery Kingdom). Most likely I'm going to go to college in San Diego within the next year so I'll be close to all of the parks down there. -

"Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, But Something is Going To Happen" by Norma Jean. yey for Norma Jean! This song is over 15 and a half minutes and has only 10 lines of lyrics... it's pretty hxc. I like the guitars in it...
