  1. No, but I probably should get off soon because I need to get ready to go to this event thing tonight. Do you like watching TV shows that are talent competitions? (singing shows like American Idol, dancing shows like Dancing With the Stars, America's Got Talent, etc.)
  2. Pie! I always have birthday pie, never birthday cake. Superbowl Sunday or Fourth of July?
  3. TPR. I'm getting soooo sick of Facebook. Would you rather go through the best Halloween maze in the world or act in it?
  4. I think I will too! I've never gone opening day for anything... but this is my home park and the first cool-looking coaster that's come to SFDK since I became a serious enthusiast.
  5. LOL so true! I've had that happen before! You might be a coaster nerd if... –Your "dream job" has ever involved coasters and/or amusement parks. –You call yourself a coaster nerd and it's not a bad thing. –Someone can describe a coaster extremely vaguely (like color and general location) and you know exactly which one they're talking about. -You've ever gotten into an argument with someone about coasters and you ended up being correct. -You've gotten upset because an amusement park commercial showed footage for a coaster not at the park advertised.
  6. Low-pay job. What's the point of having tons of money if you have no time to enjoy the money or life in general? Would you rather find a map to a secret treasure hidden in a cave/mine, or a map to a sunken treasure ship?
  7. Snakes, I'm actually quite fond of them as long as they can't potentially kill me. Would you rather fail an important test in a very important class, or fail an unimportant class?
  8. Way too tired = Foggy mind = Highlight moment of the day: (During math tutoring) Me: "X has a negative 2 exponent. It's like the 2 is the evil twin on X's shoulder... but it's negative because it's unhappy with where it's at so it wants to make X jump down to the bottom of the fraction so it can become positive again, but it's attached to X at the shoulder so it's going to take X with it." Tutoree: *blank stare* Me: "Am I confusing you more by talking like this?" Both of us suddenly burst out laughing. xD
  9. You might be a coaster nerd if you know exactly where the ride-photo cameras are on most of the coasters. You might be a coaster nerd if you hear something totally unrelated to coasters, but automatically think of something coaster-related.
  10. That sounds completely terrifying. I don't know if I could do that. Alone is one thing.... the fact that it's over 18 just shows me that they're going to do whatever the %@$# they can to scare the living shit out of you. I'm guessing that anything that won't cause you actual physical harm is fair game. Ergh... gives me the creeps just thinking about it! If I'm ever in New York around Halloween, I might have to try it. I live in the middle of nowhere so there really aren't any haunted houses nearby (except maybe the real ones ) but last year I went to a pretty good one in Fernley, NV (another middle-of-nowhere place) that some people apparently run every year out of their garage. I thought they did a pretty good job considering that it was all homemade and home-funded.
  11. What they said, sit in the front, even if you have to let people ahead of you to wait for the next train. The last few times I've gone, they only let people line up in the rows one train at a time, and if you're the last person, then you're supposed to take whatever row hasn't been taken (which is often towards the back). Also, I found a method that worked for me, but it's only been tested once by myself. During the entire ride (and especially the inversions that are the worst), I pressed my cheek against the side of the headrest and kept it firmly in place. That way, my head wasn't bashed back and forth like it usually is. Also, this might be obvious, but don't ever raise your hands on Kong. If you firmly grip the handles and tense up your body, you won't whip around as much.
  12. El Toro. I haven't tried I-305, but I just really like El Toro for some reason. Win a free trip to China or Japan?
  13. People who try to act smart, but they have horrible grammar and spelling. What's worse than studying really hard for an exam, and then finding out the day of the exam that you studied the wrong material?
  14. He's one of the top Contemporary Christian artists. I don't know what his fan-base is like in NJ, but he's definitely not a small name. His music is more like pop-rock/worship music, so he would probably draw a lot different of a crowd than a band like Skillet would. Here's one of his most popular songs: Sad note: Steven wrote this song shortly before his young daughter got hit and killed by Steven's new-driver teenage son. I think she was around age 6 and the boy was about 16. Such a sad thing that happened. EDIT: whoops I just realized that post was from two weeks ago, I'd be curious to hear if anyone went to the concert.
  15. I dream every night, and can usually remember images from them (or the gist of what happened) but most of the time they're too abstract to explain without confusing people. A lot of this is because the scenery/items in my dreams often change from moment-to-moment. I actually have a lot of dreams about water slides even though I rarely go to water parks. Of course I dream about coasters, but most of the time the coasters are nothing like real life, like they'll be half like a boat water ride and half like a coaster, or it will have stairs to get up to the drop rather than a lift-hill, or I'll be waiting in line for it, and when I get up to it it's actually a water slide. And if I actually get to the point where I ride the coaster, next thing I know I'll be back on the ground away from it, or floating way above it and not actually riding it, or it will just suddenly break or fly off the track and then I'll just walk away and go, "oh well."
  16. You might be a coaster nerd if.... you can recite coaster stats faster than you can recite the birthdays/ages of your closest friends and family.
  17. A really bad SLC that gets even worse over the years. What's worse than getting sprayed by a skunk?
  18. you write this. then: TOTALLY made my day there! On guys, boxers. Would you rather paint the outside of your house bright yellow or bright orange?
  19. Big Bad Wolf--BGW Invertigo--CGA Speed: The Ride--Nascar Cafe, Vegas Great American Scream Machine--SFGAdv Relocated: Zonga--SFDK Those that are closing at their current location, but have an unknown future: Deja Vu--SFMM Pandemonium: SFDK
  20. English major sophomore at a rural California community college. I'm going to transfer somewhere next year... hopefully Cal Poly, but if they're going to be a stickler about the required transfer courses, I might not be able to. Currently I tutor like 6 different subjects at the college's Learning and Resource Center, most of the courses are various levels of Algebra. I also do the crisis line on some Saturdays and I get a stipend for that. I also do a TON of community-service type stuff. Like volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce doing stuff with SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) that does lots of community service activities.
  21. Seaworld. Before I was a coaster enthusiast, I was a killer whale enthusiast. It would complete my childhood dream. If your arm was pinned under a rock in a remote desert canyon, would you rather wait there and hope someone finds you before you die of dehydration, or cut off your own arm to ensure survival?
  22. No, but I saw a preview of what they want to do in the near future, and that actually looked really nice. Did you ever have a Myspace?
  23. I'm not sure if this is what you mean by secrets and scandals, but I've heard that lots of people drop their relative's ashes in the Haunted Mansion ride, and that they have to close it at least once a year to clean all of it out.
  24. I'm curious... how do you organize all of these things in your attic/wherever you keep them now? Do you have filing cabinets, or do you pile them in labeled boxes, or something else? I don't have near as much as you but I've been trying to figure out a good way to store brochures, park maps, and tickets stubs to keep them organized and safe for future references. Do you have any suggestions? By the way, I loved the Marine World Africa USA brochure. Totally made my day! Maybe when I have more time to kill I'll look more closely at the rest of this. So much, so little time! I haven't seen this forum do spoilers, but if there was a way to do them, you could organize groups of pictures into a spoiler and label them by park, and it would be easier for people to scroll through and look at the ones they're interested in. It's just a suggestion to organize the thread better... I understand that you're probably pretty busy.
  25. Six Flags. Although Cedar Fair parks are probably better overall (and I've been to most of the good Six Flags parks already), my home park is a Six Flags and I would want to compare all of them. Would you rather work as the president of Six Flags or Cedar Fair?
