PETA uses KKK imagery at dog show protest
FlyingScooter replied to holidayworld08's topic in Random, Random, Random
I like PETA articles. They are always good for a laugh. i totally liked the story about PETA stepping on baby chicks, killing them, to save wombat held captive in a backyard doghouse. The Wombat, they quickly discovered, was not being held captive but actually flew in there of it's own will and made a little house for itself. PETA removed it all the same, stating: IT';S A LIVING THING! IT DESERVES BETTER THAN A DOGHOUSE. When asked what a dog deserves, they replied: NO COMMENT. -
Six Flags May Not Survive 2009...
FlyingScooter replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
i agree completely. If over 500k americans lost jobs in January alone, imagine the next few months before the main park season begins in the north. I can't imagine it's going to get better for quite a while. Has anyone else heard about the price of oil going up due to the possiblilty that the stimulus package may go thru? Remember last time gas seriously shot up? It was right when people started getting the stimulus checks. -
Kennywood layoff workers
FlyingScooter replied to Thrillrider92's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From what i've heard, CF is only laying, excuse me, scaling back on the unimportant jobs concerning Maintanance, ride ops and entertainment. also heard: they have no intentions of scaling back on concession operations largely because "people gotta eat, which is all most of them folks come for...." Vice presidents, ceo's and such will not be touched... I'm not saying this is true, mind you... -

The Cleveland Clinic day (weekend) was the heaviest attendance they had. Ask CoasterFanatic, he was there. the parkling lots were over filled, cars parked at the mall across the street. It was mobbed. -

Why Cedar Fair?
FlyingScooter replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
CF is doing better than most of the other chains simply because their bottom hasn't fallen out yet. It will, in time, and they'll be refereed to as the New SF. "only Walmart has the kind of money to purchase both Six Flags and Cedar Fair incorporated at the same time." -anonymous CEO responding to rumors of a buy-out. -
Crack pipe found in woman's buttocks during booking
FlyingScooter replied to BarryH's topic in Random, Random, Random
She's probably a retired plumber and it got accidentally dropped there... If she were a guy, I would've said: "maybe the pipe being there is proctection against: Don't the drop the soap symplex..." -
SEATTLE -- Starbucks Coffee reported a modest profit of $5.4 million, or a penny a share, this quarter, compared with $158.5 million, or 21 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. Profit declined 97 percent in this quarter. Late Monday, the company reported disappointing results for its fourth quarter and for its 2008 fiscal year, during which company pioneer Howard D. Schultz returned as chief executive and Starbucks stock lost more than half its value. Revenue rose 3 percent to $2.5 billion, up slightly from $2.4 billion a year ago. © 2008 The Associated Press wkyc cleveland ohio That's gotta be a record breaker.

C'mon people. maybe SF should ask the Gov't for a bail-out. What's another company, right? They could say: Six Flags has x-number of employees that bring X-number of dollars into our economy, not to mention the local businesses that benefit from proximity to our parks. Bail us out like AIG and the banks. The American people won't mind, right? (rant off) have a nice day.

So far, in the last 6 months, my sister has lost over 150k in her 401k. A few of my co-workers have lost btwn 20-60k in theirs. Financially, I think this is one of the scariest times we've ever seen. If you have the money to buy land, now is the time to do so. Stocks have always been risky, but I've never seen it like this. I somehow think this Bail-out will not have the affect on the economy that they desired. I think we're in for a real long winter.
