But look at it from a GP perspective. Maverick can be described as "the red one with the crazy drop and the launch in the middle."
What can a mega-lite be described as? "That coaster with the hills and turns!"
Hair Raiser really does look excellent. Beautiful location, floorless trains, and an original layout with all kinds of "extra" movements...reminds me of a modern Kumba!
My favorite theme park is Busch Gardens Tampa and my favorite amusement park is Cedar Point. Two very different places, but both succeed at what they do.
I would say that SFOT is my favorite combination of the two...but I can't, because the operations, staff, and clientele there were just far too awful for me to actually enjoy it. Awful. Awful awful.
Thank you. This is what I was going for.
Iron Dragon and Silver Comet? Legendary coasters? I guess my mind just works at a completely different wavelength...
But is a coaster "legendary" just because it does something first? I wouldn't personally consider Knott's corkscrew coaster legendary.
However, I would agree that Millennium Force (even if it is relatively new), The Beast, and Cyclone are all legendary coasters. Each of them radiates a sense of "awe" in its own way.
My family and I made our way to Boomers one night in 2009 right before New Years. We had to drive through an incredibly shady neighborhood to get to the "park" and once we got there, the whole system was incredibly unorganized and the clientele was less than ideal.
I thought the Hurricane was fun...but I feel like we're over-hyping it a bit here. On this night, it was quite rough (shuffling badly on the turns and slight jack-hammering in the valleys of the hills). However, the first and last couple hills did provide some nice airtime.
Couldn't beat the unlimited ride wristbands for $12, though.
I doubt this will really have too much affect on SFStL's future investments, anyway.
SFOT was going to remove the coaster, regardless, but it still had some years left on it, and apparently Six Flags thought St. Louis was the most logical place to send it.
