  1. These were my thoughts, exactly! It seems like Ed knew he wanted a drop tower in this park, and the best time to add it would be when all of the attention is elsewhere.
  2. Have you ridden Tennessee Tornado?
  3. I can't get over how good that dive down the hillside out of the corkscrew looks. Really, that element looks more like a cross between a corkscrew and a dive loop. That whole section kind of reminds me of the beginning of Drachen Fire. Cool stuff!
  4. If you can find the time to visit on a weekday in May or one of the first couple weeks of June, I would highly recommend it. The water park is hardly ever "empty" on days when the weather is really nice, but these days will definitely have much, much smaller crowds than later on in the summer.
  5. And it's HUGE! That's going to look really cool.
  6. I love the first drops on Skull Mountain at SFGAdv and Runaway Mountain at SFOT. They may not be the largest, but they are in dark and larger and steeper than you would expect, making for an awesome surprise.
  7. In addition to the interesting rumors of "Cedar Fair and Intamin aren't friends anymore," it's interesting to see how many other conclusions enthusiasts have drawn in regards to the B&M vs. Intamin debate. After working at a park this summer that is home to multiple examples of each and laying my eyes on many downtime and numbers sheets, I think people would be surprised to learn how little of a difference there actually is in the general reliability of Intamins compared to B&M's. Of course there are exceptions...but those exceptions work both ways. And nearly everyone...and I mean everyone...is more impressed with the performance (especially in regards to popularity with guests) of Intamins.
  8. Is that a 2nd gen. Intamin freefall? If so, is it used?
  9. I have always been a huge fan of Screamin' Eagle at SFStL. I think it's setting really adds to it, too. Same goes for GASM at SFOG, but its airtime is even more intense. What was Dania Beach Hurricane's layout considered?
  10. As I type this, the first supports for the lift are vertical, but construction crews are tearing down the old King Kobra footers. Sad day.
  11. Great to see that you all had another amazing trip! The Millennium crew and I had an awesome time hosting you guys Friday night and I'm glad we were able to help the trip go out with a bang.
  12. No matter what they end up getting, I'm sure Kings Island will do a great job with the announcement and I can't wait for tomorrow night!
  13. How much did Dueling Dragons cost?
  14. The craziest part about this in my mind is that the incident happened near the very beginning of the ride...so every person sitting behind the woman had to complete the rest of the lengthy ride having just seen a person right in front of them literally fly to her death. The thought of it makes me cringe. Very sad and tragic. We can only hope that anything like this never happens again.
  15. Heading to the park for the first time today and it looks like there's a large chance of rain pretty much all day. What kind of rain policy does BGW have?
  16. Definitely try to get the front row on Firehawk. It's FAR more intense up there than anywhere else on the train. And I'll back up SFOGdude's recommendation of the second-to-last row on the Beast. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, this is the ONLY row worth riding on the Beast. Also, make sure to get a ride in at night. It's literally the best coaster-experience you will find at Kings Island (or almost anywhere else, really).
  17. What I've never understood about TPR is the apparent dog-pile effect. This thread is a perfect example. Original poster makes a comment, Robb responds, issue [should be] resolved. But then 20 people feel the need to jump in and make the OP feel as isolated and hated as possible. Robb is a grown man--he can obviously resolve his own problems and he's not blowing anyone who tries to put others down. Didn't your mommy ever tell you, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all?" Of course none of us ever listen to our mothers...but that doesn't mean we shouldn't.
  18. ^Really? Blazy Fury over FoF? Hm...I question your judgement...haha!
  19. ^I don't think any California local will have the ability to understand just how awesome of a park SFMM is to those of us who don't have it in our "backyards," so to speak.
  20. Welp. So much for my most successful thread.
  21. What makes Raptor more special than any other large B&M invert, though? In my opinion, it's the least unique of the mega-inverts.
  22. Plus, GCI has been continuously improving the quality of their coasters since the debut of Roar.
  23. But if it is true, do you really think he would've said, "Oh, dang it, someone found out? Well, yep, I guess the cat's out of the bag. There goes that."?
  24. ^Sounds like a bold strategy by Alton. Let's see how this works out for them.
