Thorpe Park Opening Day!
eBen replied to divyking's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Which has grass already, it was smashed bottles and grit but a few months ago -
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is doing up 3 rides: The Big One - Replacing track (same layout) Wild Mouse - Structural work Roller Coaster - Trains from Big Dipper (possibly)
-
Another (minor) one for Walibi World - First and so far only use of the 'the Stengel Dive' element on Goliath. I love that part/ride/park. And the Kangaroo (<) agrees. Also: Black Mamba Phantasialand has the first Jr. Immelmann Shockwave Drayton Manor first stand up to have a barrel roll/in-line spiral/Zero G Roll, whatever you want to call it (even rcdb is confused) Hundeprut BonBon Land (hopefully) first and only coaster to use dog poo as theming

Colossus (Thorpe Park) Question
eBen replied to WildStangAlex's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was good while it lasted. I like its setting with the main walkway and queue line though the middle of it. And the oil spewing out if the top of the lift hill chain is a delicacy in these parts -
How about a coaster with 2 sets of wheels, one below the seats and one above. Starts out as a (floorless??) sit down, but at the mid course brakes the top set of wheels slide onto overhanging track and then the bottom ones slide off the lower track (like the way water coasters get on and of the rails) and the rest of the course its inverted.

Have you ever done 3 parks in a day before, even if they are small. Sounds hectic, have you got an attack plan. Does it go along the line of turn up, credit whore and go? Not that I mind or anything (i don't think I would ever get to these parks without such a scheme) but after few weeks the mind finally boggled!

Will the second week in August be the same crowds and weather wise as the end of July? I would consider it a wasted opportunity to have to change flights at Cleveland for the mini trip. Although if I don't get to go the I can chose a less manic time of year. I also see it as urgent to go incase the rumors are true that they will soon hack away at the coasters after winning the current war! Or worse if Demon Drop is no longer available.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
eBen replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I normally get an error screen or it trying to download a .dll file Does anyone know if these hotels normally book up fully? And what would be my chances if I just turned up and said do any of them have a room for a couple of days. -
You mean to imply there not based on the discovery of hidden wonders such as this?? If the pasta deal comes with all the cheese you can put on your food as well I won't mind as much.
-
Which parks and when is this trial happening in? Are there places to store it when you make it to a ride to prevent foolishly squashing it in your pocket.

This is an amazing teaser for the 2008 Europe trip. Well made, cheers for sharing it. Was the crazy tower thing at 25 seconds the lift for Vertigo??
-
A gobsmacking Europe Trip Get to Cedar Point before they start removing things (must...ride...Demon...Drop), & while I,m there I would be foolish to not take a pit stop @ Behemoth. Lake Erie is a lot smaller than the Atlantic. If anyone has any tips or suggestions of how to travel between the two without a car please let me know! And more than just throwing stuff into the air. What train, bus, plane or boat?!

Is there anywhere to ask about trip ideas / possibilities for 2009 and beyond? I ask because of Japan - that crazy nut of a place I would love to go to soon, but you'll be going 2 years in a row. Is it cool enough to make it into 2009 as well?? (Ive missed the deadline and well aware my chances could be gone from that alone. Dam this begin so late getting a better job!) Oh and a mini question - whats peoples beef with Fuji-Q. Surly theres a couple of highlight rides in there. Even if one hurts worse than ** oh a rant. i see. arse. bad Fuji-Q. I have no stick to hit it with but still want to go. If i enjoy myself ill hide my smile

I though the point was to make you feel very exposed and give everyone a good view, like stadium seating you get on Intamin launch coasters -

Theres adding (and taking away in remote places) land everywhere, which is good, they can, are and have been moulding it into loads of islands. Its a real life RCT -

I always liked that bit too - although the back is surrounded by green (plants to keep) there is a huge blob of red so there could be some left, but the 'wall' probably gone. *We get a wall of coaster instead. I wonder if when it goes very close to loggers leap (flume) it has the same charm as when the runaway mine train goes though the same tunnel as the rapids at Alton. Or will it just take hiding space away from the bears. Even if it does end up a flop which i don't think it will at least we will be able to walk under one of the final in line twists on colossus. Cheer up people - be happy! Ignore the ride type and the fact you have seen it all before. It looks like a great rounded ride. I've seen cheese burgers before and still want them everywhere i go. After all I finally get a dive loop somewhere in my annual pass! -

Heres another link on about the same thing but a bit more Teacups are going to be called Marauder's Mayhem, and the parks going to be re branded and beefed up with a new logo. -
Scale Coaster trains! Griffon and Alpengeist
eBen replied to CD_Staff's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Have you been in contact with any British parks? Wondering if there is any interest over here. Our merchandise is terrible at the moment and needs something decent and park related like this. Looking forward to drilling a hole in my desk to drop a dive machine into -
If anybody has any ideas or instructions for a K'nex car that will run along rails then please let me know! None of this new generation, pre-made, rail hugging, more realistic stuff please, i want to make it from scratch out of K'nex with room to fit Lego riders on it OR a miniature camera. (How else will i see the spinning tunnel in full effect??) I am going for a dark ride and have used up what little originality i have on its concept and what will happen to the car. Any suggestions? I will make the track fit the car but it must be able to be pulled up/along a chain. The track can be altered to the width of the car and if there is room to add a shell which will enable it to float all the better! (but not expected. I think ill just let it partially sink and waterproof the camera)

What gender is the toothy fairy?

I don't like the idea of a bloke in a dress doing that either -
That evil stuff is the reason i will never be as slim as i want to be - it is so dam good. I had a very odd cheese the other day. It had raisons inside and was sprinkled with a lot of cinnamon. I even went to Amsterdam just to visit a cheese shop (i added on a theme park but that was not the primary goal!) so here is my cheese shop trip report. Come on - they have places named after cheese, Edam for one The girl hiding between the blue cheese gave me a ham and cheese slice when i asked for a goats cheese ( and i had to go back cause they forgot to give it to me with the rest of what i ordered). There is much more in there - a huge rack of pre packed cheese to the left. And they had sweet things as well as savory. I dont remeber what it was but it was more gorgeuos than the girl on the right, who smiled at me. Happy days. well 15 mins. How often to you take a photo of a shop selling food huh?

Anything that is sponsored by anything or named after some film or TV whatsitsname, Batman for instance - and who will buy soap because of a theme park ride??? as for Bling you must not have noticed the 'themeing' hanging from the moving platform. All that chain that hides well over 10% of the concrete under the ride platform and I'm sure is sparkled for a few weeks after they installed it at least And for the record the Dog Fart Coaster is one of the greatest names i have ever heard.

^ don't do se7en last. Of all the rides in the dark i was very surprised that Zodiac (the enterprise) looked the best while on it. Stealth did look good but they could have made it red strobe with fog and a lightning strike when you reached the top with ghosts you pass though on the launch and a bloodbath slash down on the way back or something. Seriously though they should have lit it up red Hellgate made me very very happy, they use parts of the x:/nwo queue even something i never thought i would see move again And finally the best bit of the day was i did the drop tower twice without leaving my seat. One day i will get genuine ERT but until then this will do! -
dear my sanity I hope some one on the same trip as me likes this stuff as well! Ill Logic & RAF - Turnaround http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/servlet/sr?C=BINGO037&S=b <<< is for real player link but for those that chose to use a stream that has lower quality (from this site at least)>>> http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/servlet/sm?C=BINGO037&S=b

The "Post your favorite Simpson Quotes" Game

Cant remember exactly but Lisa uses the word anal in the 'don't be anal' sense. Ok its a blatant bid for shock humor but i think its great. The only time I would ever use the excuse of "but the TV said it so i can too" Theres also this clip from a song sung by Homer: "I could even eat a baby dear - la la la la la la la la"
