Screamin Swings?
verticalzero replied to RollerC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have never been on a "Screamin Swing", The nearest one to me is "Rush" at Thorpe Park. I just don't see myself getting the ride name when the arm is at full height, I tend to go dizzy if I get a rush to much. I'll stick to Woodies and Steelies coasters. -
Heide Park Discussion Thread

I have not had the joy of "riding" Rita, I wonder if "Rita" will be tweeked for more speed next season, see if it can reach 70mph. It looks nice and blends in well with everything else. Love to see it longer, more bunny hops and go through the supports of their Woodie. I still can't understand why "Rockets" have a "set of trims" on an hill when they should be placed on a straight bit of track after the hill. Everyone on board can enjoy getting "airbourne". -

Nice clean Park and a shame about the signs of warnings, just like here in England, far 2 many road signs, you feel like your being "mothered" or told what to do. -
Alton Towers Discussion Thread
verticalzero replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I found some pic's of BH being taken apart and I hope it is ok to post them here for everyone to view. It's sad when a ride has reached the end of it's life, but we have the memories it has given us over the years. Thank You BH RIP. My fav parts were the "spiral lift hill" and the lovely station theaming. Some Pic:s http://gallery.towersalmanac.com/thumbnails.php?album=442 Did this coaster start out at AT as "The Beast" or "New Beast"..? -
Efteling Discussion Thread

Eftelings Flying Dutchman finally carried it’s first riders late last week as the park staff and management took their first rides. The attraction will have cost 20 million Euros ($25 million US), a bit of a waste when MF costs the same amount. The park needs to do something to it's woodie coaster, this is not worthy being in the park, it is rough and needs some added to it even if it is classed as being a family ride. It's a shame the locals do not support the Park: In the past, local environmentalists had been able to block many crucial projects in the history of De Efteling. It was only after fierce employee protests that De Efteling was re-allowed to build there looping roller coaster Python back in 1981. Since then, they haven't been able to get rid of the environmentalist organization BMF. This organization protests against virtually any building permit request by De Efteling. I hope the Park does not sufer from this silly group's protest and it can build some world class rides in the coming years, if it can't build any rides the Park will suffer and it might have to close due to lack of people going to other parks. -
Oldest touring roller coaster. Dates back to around 1920. It was found in a field in Holland. The side friction Runaway Coaster formerly of Rotunda ParkRunaway Coaster is still rotting in Folkestone as of today. 3 cars still on the tracks in a very bad state. Such a shame as it had been overhauled when built. As it was when running: http://rcdb.com/ig862.htm Yesterday: http://photos.orange.co.uk/album/5033948 This coaster may go to "Oakwood" Theme Park

Parc Saint Paul...

This does look like a unique coaster with no lift hill. Hope it will be working this season as it's been SBNO since 2006. -
Best Drop Ride!!!
verticalzero replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been on 3 Drop towers: I tend to avoid them. Detonator at Thorpe Park, the ex-troc (london) drop tower which lives at Funland - Hayling Island and Bounce at Oakwood. I find the drop tower at Hayling Island worse than Detonator. I always come off white and shaking. -
Best Dark Roller Coaster?
verticalzero replied to drewelap's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was "Black Hole" at Alton Towers. Sadly this has closed: "Revolution" at Bobbejaanland is amazing: Description below for those who don't know: Trains: Single train with 30 cars. Riders are arranged inline in 2 rows for a total of 60 riders. Features: Inside of the building/hall there were two movie screens illuminated by 70mm projectors -- one on the ceiling and on the floor. The track circles around these screens. Sometime around the 2000 season, the screen on the floor was removed and replaced with lights. Then in 2003 the same was done to the ceiling lights were removed and again replaced with lights. On 6/17/2005 a new digitally remastered movie and projector was installed. X:NWO gets no vote from me. -
VIDEO: How to LOVE Efteling
verticalzero replied to multimueller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am another lover of "efteling", I visited it for the 1st time last year and I thought it produces lots of "Magic" which most Theme Parks don't have. As soon as the front gates are out of site, you feel like you are on another planet with the different flowers, trees, top theaming, friendly staff and tidy clean paths. Even with a Map I got slightly lost, we need to get the local people who live near this park to lighten up and let "efteling" add a Hyper coaster or have a woodie run through the trees and over the lake. If heaven is like this park I can't wait to go, it is the perfect place to go and have fun. -

I agree with jordan21, A Park should be perfectly clean and tidy before it is opened to the pubic -

Drayton Manor - major disappointment
verticalzero replied to Toffeeman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Such a shame it has gone down hill so fast as it was a great Park. I guess that's Birmingham kids for you. If I have a bad day on 30th March at Drayton, I will send a letter to the Park and tell them they need to sort out their customer service, q jumping and Ops. I sent an email to Walibi World in May regarding some "kiddies" jumping from row 4 seats to row 2 to ride Goliath with their mates just for the end photo. They did this before the gates opened to let the people quing on, the ops did not do anything. I recieved an email back saying " we make sure our ops are trained to a high standard and do not tolerated q-jumping etc". I returned to the Park in Aug and the Ops were much better and there was no Q jumping. If anyone has a bad day at any park let them know, the Park can improve it's Customer Service. -

Nice parks, pictures and great POV, where in Holland are the 2 parks..? I want to move to Holland within the next 6 years, I'll try to live 2 hours drive from Walibi World, De Eftling and Toverland. I can buy a season ticket for all 3 Parks -

Random feeling after Theme Park visit...
verticalzero replied to Phixion's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was 11 and on holiday in Italy, I dived into the Hotel's swimming pool and my ear drum "burst" due to the pressure. We had to cut the holiday short by a couple of days, my parents took me to my doctor and he suringed my ear which lead to a infection of the middle ear. All of my middle ear bones have been destroyed and between being 11 and mid 20's, I have had 4 operations to reconstruct my ear drum and middle ear area. My doctor says it is safe for me to ride coasters and I should not get any problems. ----------------------------------------------------- The only coaster which has given me a gray-out is "Oblivion", Nemesis gives me headaches and slight walking not straight problems ( the ground feels like a 45 degree angle and I learn forward) when I re-ride 2 or 3 times in a row. I have been on many coasters over the years inc all at Cedar Point and Kings Island, England,Wales and Europe, most of the time I come off the ride fine, sometimes I get a small headache depending on the ride's layout and how inversion it has. I have ridden "Goliath" at Walibi World (I'm thinking of moving house in a couple of years time to Holland so I can be near this coaster and get out of the UK) 10 times in a row during a visit and felt a bit dizzy, after a hour or so i'm back to normal health. I have decided not to credit any "Rocket" or "Euro-Fighter" coasters, "Oblivion" at AT, "Slammer" and "Rush" at TP, any flat fast rides or any Drop Towers. These rides might put too much pressure on my ear. -

Happy Birthday TPR Forums, they are a great source of "coaster" wealth. Here's to the next 10 years More "Raw" POV's would be great to have. -

Bobbejaanland's "Revolution" blew me away when I rode it last year, it reminded me of a bigger version of Alton Tower's Black Hole. Adding Lasers would be the ultimate in a light show for X:NWO -

PTR - Adventure Island - 10th Feb
verticalzero replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think these type of "Euro" coasters need to have more room so the inversions and rolls can be enjoyed more. A tight track area means the ride could become "rough". Speed is a good example of streching the model, but the ending is a bit short and compact, a couple more straight bunnyhops then the downward helix to the brakes works better. -
"It's back. It's upgraded. Are you ready?"
verticalzero replied to HAJiME's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Someone could sent an email or speak to a member of staff when they visit the park about "Stealth's" tweeking for this season. The Stealth's trains must be one of the fastest things on Earth for quickness. Can the human body take anything quicker than "Stealth"'s launch..? How about 0-80mph in 1 or 1.5 sec's..? -
