Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Goliath513 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Fair seems to really like hypers these days. With B&M hyper track seen at the plant in Ohio rumored to go to Carowinds and these supports looking more Intamin-ish, maybe they've downsized and are going with...America's first Mega-Lite!? -
Can someone help me.
Goliath513 replied to Thelegendarymatthew's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Here it is. All the necessary files included as well...hopefully that's all of them. ParkDat16.zip -
It's pretty bad, not the worst, but sure down near the bottom. This year it was more painful than ever. Mind Eraser at my home park of Elitch Gardens is by far worse. It shocks me that the GP seem to love this ride. Some other steels that are pretty bad: Flying Coaster and Super Flight (Zamperla Volares), as well as CGA's Demon stick out in my mind as non-Vekomas being bad enough that I would not want to ride again. As for woodies go, the roughest is Hurler at Kings Dominion. It jackhammers the crap out of you on those spine-shattering-rib-crushing right turns. Grizzly is not too far behind either. That was far more painful than CGA's Grizzly which is just plain boring. The worst is Mean Streak because the jackhammering (although not the roughest I have felt) lasts for so long. Unlike Hurler which is over fairly quickly, Mean Streak just prolongs the exposure to the pain. Contrary to common thoughts here on TPR, I didn't find Hershey's Wildcat all that rough at all. Nor Ghostrider - my last ride would have been quite fun if it wasn't for the edge seatbelt buckle jamming into my lap. SFA's Roar is a different story...man that was a pile of crap.

Need a ton of help.
Goliath513 replied to HHN Dylan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not sure what you are asking because of your horrible grammar. Are you asking if you can use someone else's pass? You know that falls under the category of breaking park rules, don't you? Were did you see this? Fail -
Is Soak City worth it?
Goliath513 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say go for it! Last summer when my family and I went to Cedar Point for two days in June we got these buy-one-get-one-free tickets also. The first day we used as a credit run, and the second day we went to Soak City for about 3 hours in the late afternoon after spending the morning in the park. We went back into the park in the evening. Overall, it's a pretty decent waterpark. The lines on most of the slides were all short and I was quite impressed with the overall quality of the place considering all the negativity I had previously heard about it. I had time to do everything in the main park I wanted (all the coasters, the main flats like Maxair, Skyhawk, both water rides, the sky tower, and even time for quite a re-rides on the best coasters) - without feeling rushed at all. I wish you the best of luck. -

Ok, we all know Six Flags parks have OD on Johnny Rockets parks in the past few years. Here are this park's numerous Johnny Rockets joints. -
Cameras in the WATER??!!
Goliath513 replied to Lenaapple1974's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is what I use for my camera when I go to water parks. Works very well as I have gone swimming with it and brought it on many waterslides. http://www.semsons.com/wacaforcodic.html -
The "Preview" Thread
Goliath513 replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^^^ Not a fan of the 90 degree corners on the river. Make them diagonal to look more realistic. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing where you're going with this park! Here's one from Six Flags Wyoming. Not much, but hey, it's the thread for random crap like this. I will have an update on this once I finish the ride and the surrounding area. -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
Goliath513 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The list has changed since whenever the last time I posted was. Wood 1. Boulder Dash 2. Phoenix 3. El Toro 4. Twister (Knoebel's) 5. Terminator Salvation: The Ride Steel 1. Maverick 2. Superman / Bizarro (SFNE) 3. Millennium Force 4. Goliath (SFMM) 5. Nitro It's really hard to go any further than that and pick top 10 for each category. -

Goliath513 replied to Electerik's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Amazing shot! Reminds me why I like Thunder Canyon so much. WTF?.....I suppose everyone is entitled to...their own opinions. Again, WTF? Ok, the shock is over. Maverick is my favorite ride in the park and I even liked it more than Superman at SFNE. This is really the first I have seen anything of the other rides in the park like the car rides, Paddlewheel Excursions, and the train. Very nice. And I agree with Cedar Fair's ridiculous safety policy. Seat belts on EVERYTHING. Next thing we know, there will be seat belts on top of other seat belts. However, about the seat belts on Wicked Twister, they have those on V2 at SFDK too, so it's not just a Cedar Fair thing. But I do really hate it when the seatmates interfere with the ride. Take Knott's Ghostrider for example, last time I rode, it seemed like it was going to be a good ride for a change, then at the top of the airtime hill, the metal edge of the seat belt jammed into my lap, breaking the skin and leaving a fairly large wound. Now I remember why I hate that ride. The "CHECK" procedure only really bothers me when they yell into my ear instead of to the other ride ops. It's the little things about Cedar Fair as to why I don't really like them. Once again, great photos. -
Sunset Hills [RCT2]
Goliath513 replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Yeah I thought the name looked familiar. Sunset and Sunrise are the two most overused words in RCT park names these days, so avoid those. Of course, Six Flags isn't very good with original names for their parks either, so don't feel too bad about your park having the same name as someone else's. -
RCT2 Entertainer???
Goliath513 replied to Thelegendarymatthew's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
You have to have the specific theming group to have that type of entertainer. In your case, you need to have the Wild West Theming group selected for your park. -
Here's one for the ages.

[NL] Terminator Salvation
Goliath513 replied to hyyyper's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I rode it on opening day. First off, the station and turnaround to the lift needs to be higher off the ground. 15-20 ft should be good. Second, the turnaround right after the lift needs to have a bit more of a drop going into it and should be banked more. The drop goes completely over to the other side of the lift and followed by a small airtime hill before the "deadman's turn". After that, everything looks fine from what I can remember. Looking forward to seeing more of this! -
Last I heard, they had a "new home" they were going to move it to. My guess would be Wild Waves since that's one of the former Six Flags parks purchased by Parc, and they haven't installed a new coaster in over 5 years. However just staying with nothing new at all would be better than Flying Coaster. Those pictures really make the park appear nicer than it really is (it's because of the Colorado summer rain). Twister II and Sidewinder are really the only somewhat decent coasters there, but the waterpark is good for its size. When Disaster Canyon is open, it's my favorite ride in the park since it's a considerably good rapids ride. Tower of Doom is pretty good too. Maybe someday they will manage to get rid of Flying Coaster and build a new coaster in the park.

The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update
Goliath513 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Having ridden all four (El Toro, Boulder Dash, Phoenix, and Terminator), Terminator can't be compared to the other three. If anything, Terminator is like the second half of El Toro, but it is sure no mega airtime machine like the others. Terminator has the "pops" of airtime at various points, but is more of a twister coaster. Like Brent, I also talked with one of the guys at GCI about this and learned it's not their style to design rides for airtime - they prefer the twister style with short bursts of air throughout the layout instead (which is exactly what Terminator is). This is why we will never see a Phoenix style GCI. -
TR: Hershey Park May 23-24, 2009
Goliath513 replied to Ibztone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice pictures, but I'm still pissed off at Hershey for removing Canyon River Rapids for this. That was such a great ride and was one of the best rapids rides around. I always admired Hershey for its well rounded collection of rides, but now they seem to be selling out to modern fads. -
My biggest complaint about the expansion packs was that they didn't offer any real new rides. The "new" rides included in them were basically themed versions of existing coasters (for example, Surfing Coaster is a Standing Coaster with surfboards for trains). If they had new types of coasters like Intamin rocket coasters and new bigger flats like for example a Huss Frisbee, that would have made them much better. RCT3 fixed some of this with the addition of new flats and real coasters, but for us RCT2 players, we have resorted to the use of custom scenery and rides to build what the game and the expansion packs didn't give us, as well as what has been developed in the amusement world since after the expansion packs were released.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Goliath513 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow. I heard the same thing from some girls who were in line behind us for Goliath on Saturday night. They were saying that "this new Terminator is the same ride that was always there, just with theming." Yet people still don't make the connection that X2 is just an upgraded version of X. Also, at Knott's yesterday, this kid's dad was telling his kid that SFMM has "this same ride like this (pointing to Boomerang) called Riddler's Revenge." I don't see any way how those two can be compared. -

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
Goliath513 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I was at the park this afternoon with a couple friends. Terminator was running all day, but only with park employees as riders - which was evident by all the riders wearing the bright yellow shirts. Guests were constantly trying to get in and ride, but only to find park security waiting at the entrance. We will be there tomorrow again for the opening first thing in the morning and will post more on the ride after riding! Here are some pictures from a couple hours ago. The entrance is much more impressive in person. Not so many staff present now, but the full trains of yellow shirt employees sure confused the guests as to why they couldn't ride. -
[RCT2] Six Flags Wyoming
Goliath513 replied to Goliath513's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Yeah that's the MCBR. The layout follows a design typical of modern dive machines. As for the path going through the sign, at SFMM on their Goliath, the entrance goes through the 20ft tall sign between the "I" and "A" (Judging by your comment, I assume you've never been to SFMM or seen the entrance area for Goliath in pictures). This was the best way to achieve that look in RCT2. -
