I think we'll see Knoebel's Flying Turns open before this park reopening. -
Going To SFDK Tomorrow
Goliath513 replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The ride was taken out of service after the 2007 season and has not reopened. The entrance is currently blocked off. -
You all need to get Tyler in the lorikeet aviary so he can face his fears of being crapped all over by the birds like during our takeover of BGE's lorikeet aviary last year! Here's the picture. I believe Robb also got crapped on as well. Too bad I won't be back to northern California until the day after, because if I was around, I would totally go to this.

What water park is this?
Goliath513 replied to kyle2227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Why does it matter? The picture looks like a poll asking if you prefer waterslides or roller coasters. They just have a picture of a waterslide and a picture of a roller coaster. This is not an ad for any park. -
Another problem with Photobucket is bandwidth limit exceeded. My east coast trip report was featured on the front page of TPR for a day, but had to be taken down because all the views ate up my monthly bandwidth limit and the photos were replaced with this image. It doesn't take much to overload their server and cause it to freak out and block your images. Someday I'll re-upload the entire trip report's photos to TPR, move all my photos, and delete my damn Photobucket account.

^^^ "Beating around the bush" never does anyone any good. Best to just be straight up with honesty and don't rely on *little* hints (97% of guys don't pick up on them anyways). ^^ Dude, your family is seriously F***ED UP. Badly. My family pissed me off enough when I lived with them, and I can only imagine how much more I would have hated life if there was a baby too. Everyone has sh*t times in their life (it sounds like you're right in the middle of yours) and just think, in a few years, you will be old enough to move out away from all the bullsh*t. Reading through this thread for a while reminds me of how glad I am to be living on my own, away from my family and who piss me off, away from all the drama, and just living life how I want to...college style.

Official RCT/RCT2 Help Thread
Goliath513 replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
To get 8Cars working on Vista, you need to do the following: - Change the display theme on your computer to "Windows Classic" - Disable UAC (User Account Control) - Run RCT2 in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" - Disable visual themes for RCT2. (To do this, right click on the RCT2 icon, and under the Compatibility tab, check the box for "Disable Visual Themes") Also, for those having problems viewing screenshots in Vista, go to the RCT2 folder where you normally find them, and click the "Compatibility Files" icon near the top. This will show the files. However, if you have UAC turned off, you don't need to do this. -

I always just use the zero clearance (absolute) under the 'misc' tab. Are you running Vista? If so, this causes problems with trainers. Save your game with the clearances zero'd, restart your computer, and restore them first thing. -
[RCT2] Six Flags Wyoming
Goliath513 replied to Goliath513's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ok so this project came very close to ending recently because my OS became corrupt and my computer was unusable for a while. After I reinstalled Vista and RCT2, I had problems loading the park due to a few objects that didn't export. Even after copying everything over from my backup drive, the park still wouldn't load because at least one Time Twister object somehow got into the park. I don't even have Time Twister, so I'm not sure how this park worked before the overhaul of my computer. Thanks to learning how to use ParkDat, I removed the problematic TT objects (despite them being in use in the park) and now it works fine! Anyways, here's an update just to show things are working again. This Viper is based off the Phoenix at Knoebel's. -

^ Depends on what type of credit you want. -
Is there a place to donate plasma in Vegas (I see you're not in Colorado anymore)? There's one right here in FoCo that I donate at twice a week and get paid $50 a week for it. Always a good way for poor college students to make some extra cash.

Official RCT/RCT2 Help Thread
Goliath513 replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Use 8Cars 1.32. There is an option in there under Edit Ride Stats for "toggle chain". Apply a different color scheme to the vertical track you want as a lift (Alternative #1, etc.) and set that color scheme as the lift. Although a chain might not appear, the track will still work like a lift. -
Cedar Point, June 15th.
Goliath513 replied to Coasterfanatic245's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They had a massive hatching of mayflies (I'm assuming those are the bugs you're talking about) on my second day there about this time last year. The entire park and surrounding area was covered with these. The pool at Sandcastle Suites where we were staying had a layer of these dead mayflies on top. The paths were littered with these - dead and alive. It was sure a mess, but the birds love them. -
the big holes at the back of wave pools
Goliath513 replied to waveywonder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've always wondered why they had those ropes near the back of the wave pools. Every year they seemed to be pushed back further outwards -- almost halfway as I remember here at Waterworld one year. Speaking of Waterworld, I've always wondered about their other wave pool "Thunder Bay" since, unlike traditional wave pools, it sends out one large wave every so often instead of a continuous cycle like most. Then you better not see the new Final Destination movie coming out later this summer. Based on rumors, and the few seconds of the "pool scene" in the trailer, it looks like there will be something just like this in the movie (exaggerated, of course). I remember that too. I think it was in Russia. -
The Legacy of Summers/Dinn
Goliath513 replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At least Dinn's coasters aren't all terrible like ICI (International Coasters, Inc.) - the company that built the Hurler clones. Having ridden the one at Kings Dominion last year, I assume that Carowinds' version is just as bad as it's jackhammering death machine brother up north. Sure, I absolutely hated Mean Streak, but it was nowhere near as bad as Hurler. I think most of it has to do with the park. Look at Cedar Fair's Dinn coasters, for example. Their Dinns (Mean Streak, Timber Wolf, and Hercules for example) are known as some of the worst woodies around. Does this make Dinn bad because of it? No. Take rides like Grizzly, Rebel Yell, Hurler, and Ghostrider which are not Dinns, yet still suck terribly. Son of Beast (RCCA) too, but I have not ridden that, so I can't say from personal experience just how bad it is. Ghostrider, built by CCI is one of the most painful coasters I've been on, yet my all time favorite woodie is a CCI that runs PTC trains (Boulder Dash). TLC is most everything. Reading that Dinn helped rebuild Phoenix was quite a shock to me because I love that ride and it is one of my top 10 of all time. Even companies with a good reputation have rides that suck. Roar at SFA is unimaginably bad, yet its brother on the west coast is as smooth as ever. Trains have a lot to do with that as well (which is probably why SFA's Roar is so bad). Wildcat at Hershey was pretty bad too, even after the PTC trains were removed simply because of all the damage done to the track for the first 10 years of the ride's life. However, we will not see Millennium Flyer trains on coasters that were not originally built by GCI as this is their signature design and want to keep it exclusive to their coasters. Keep in mind, some these Dinn woodies were the best of their time back when they were new. Do you think we will be able to say the same about Intamin's woodies in 15 years as we do right now? -
Sidewinder -- it's impossible to crash like your RCT ride with a station brakes failure because the ride is a Vekoma boomerang and can only run one train since it's a shuttle coaster.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Goliath513 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At SFDK yesterday while in line for Tony Hawk Big Spin I overheard this: "Remember that ride called Zonga that used to be here?" "Yeah they said it was a new ride just because they painted it red and changed the name." Ok, I can understand why GP might mistake Terminator for Psyclone, but saying that THBS is Zonga? Damn, the only thing besides their location they have in common is they are steel coasters. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Goliath513 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ohh we've had our fair share of rain up here too....just a couple days ago it was pouring down buckets of rain. So has anyone managed to go today now that conditions have improved? Do we really NEED daily updates? Honestly, an update once a week or so is plenty at this point. It's sad that some of us have got to that point where it is so urgent that we need updates every single day to crack the mystery of what this (or any other) new coaster is. -

Goliath513 replied to printersdevil78's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Yeah, but the SFA version is a pile of crap since it uses PTC trains. The ride experience is downright terrible in every way (slow, rough, boring, bad transitions, etc). PTCs on a GCI is like mixing Cedar Fair and Geauga Lake (meaning the first one destroying the other). The only exception to this is the PTC trains on Boulder Dash since it was recently retracked by GCI, but even that was originally a CCI, so the trains actually work with the design. -
[RCT2] Six Flags Wyoming
Goliath513 replied to Goliath513's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
For the transfer hacks, this is the hack that I use. I used this same method for the trains in Tidmouth Shed in Thomas Town. http://rcttutorials.bizhat.com/hack9.htm As for the working dual loading stations, here is the hack for that. http://forums.nedesigns.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=15954&view=findpost&p=351197 I didn't bother to make a working dual loading station on the log flume since we all know how most parks, like SFMM, only use one side of their dual station log flumes. Jordan, the turntable (like in the real Thomas Towns) is for scenery purposes and is non-functional. -

^Yes they are exact copies. So are Mind Eraser and Kong...they both suck equally bad. Great photo TR. Looks much better now than the TPR visit there last summer. I never expected a Six Flags park to be so terrible - seriously. SFDK used to have a ride just like this until about 2006. Is this from SFDK, or has this been here longer? *sigh* This was a sad sight to see when I was here. They looked like quite nice slides, being in the trees and all. Too bad they were rotting away and the splashdown pool was a mosquito infested green pond. They really need to just remove these already. It would be a huge step in the direction to making this park look less ghetto and rundown than it really is.
