Discovery Kingdom has Medusa, which is very smooth, yet intense, fast, and thrilling. They also have V2, my favorite impulse coaster. Roar, their GCI, is one of my top 10 woodies, and is running as smooth, fast, and great as ever. They also have an SLC and Boomerang which need no further comment. Tony Hawk Big Spin is also pretty fun. Great America has Flight Deck (Top Gun), which is one of the most powerful and intense B&M inverts around. It rivals the Batman clones which I have ridden and is much more thrilling than some of the newer B&Ms such as Talon. Invertigo, despite being a Vekoma, is the second best coaster in the park. The other rides range from mediocre to crap. Vortex and Grizzly are absolutely terrible, Demon hurts more than any other Arrow looper I've ridden, and Psycho Mouse is just a standard mouse ride. For flats, SFDK has one of my favorite rapids rides, whereas CGA has a decent log flume and some water slides. Both parks have a top spin ride (CGA got theirs last year from Geauga Lake). CGA has a great Intamin drop tower, and SFDK has a fun Huss spinning Frisbee. SFDK beats CGA in terms of atmosphere the way Busch Gardens beats Cedar Fair. CGA is Cedar Fair - enough said. SFDK also has some great animal shows. Bottom line - I would go to SFDK given the choice. They have 3 great coasters and some more decent coasters. As compared to CGA which has 2 decent and mediocre coasters, and the rest are pure crap. CGA has better flats, but SFDK has some good ones too and great water rides. the original section of the park feels almost like Busch Gardens when you get up the hill beyond the main coasters. Enjoy your trip to SF (I'm on the bus to the airport currently in SF as typing this).

Copyright infringement. I was more excited about the Back to the Future reference in that episode though.

Robb and Elissa at Sesame Place, Coney Island, SFNE, Quassy, Lake Compounce, Rye Playland, SFGAdv, SFA, Busch Gardens Europe, Kings Dominion, Morey's Piers, Clementon, Hersheypark, Dorney, and Knoebel's in August 2008. Also, in March 2003, my dad and I saw Steven Spielberg getting out of his Limo which was just a few feet away from us, while we were in line for Backdraft at USH.

It just occurred to me - if Cedar Fair were to ever buy a Six Flags park with a Tony Hawk Big Spin coaster, they would rename it "Dick: The Ride"

^ Glad to hear I'm not the only one who would prefer a park like Cedar Point or Magic Mountain over Disney. Maybe if Kings Dominion had more than one good coaster, they would be better than Disney in my opinion like they said they are. Better than Disney? Maybe. On par with Busch Gardens? Hell no! That interview is still classic. "How'd you get so big, Dick?" -

I don't understand how the section of track removed from Wicked Twister is such a failure. It's probably just some extensive offseason maintenance and I don't see anything wrong with that. -
This all sounds like the publicity stunt that Six Flags put out a few years ago with such parks as SFMM. In this case, I can see one park being sold, and the others being retained. CGA would make the most since to sell since it is in the middle of a prime development area, and Cedar fair could get much more for what the park is worth compared to the others out in the midwest.

^ Care to elaborate? Name the radio station on which they mentioned it. From reading this article released yesterday, this does not surprise me at all. Maybe you are confusing it with "the potential sale of California’s Great America" as mentioned in the article. However, if it has indeed been sold, good riddance.

Knoebels Discussion Thread

My thoughts on the new "Family Coaster". Expoland which is now closed has a Zamperla coaster by that name, and I would not be surprised if Knoebel's bought it. Here is the ride: http://www.rcdb.com/id2500.htm -
^ When was the last time you rode it? Last season, it was running worse than ever. It almost beat out SFA's Mind Eraser (worst SLC I have ridden yet).

Bonus points for the DDR machine in the arcade. -
Enter Sandman Good to see some of CGA. Your photos make the park appear as if almost still had some life left to it! Despite Grizzly being consistently ranked as the worst wooden coaster in the world, it's nowhere near as bad as some other woodies (such as KD's Grizzly), and still gets longer lines than any other coaster in the park.

^CS = custom scenery (scenery, rides, etc. created by users). I made several CS objects for my last park. It was really more of a hassle than it was worth, so when I ever start up my next (Six Flags) park, I will just use what CS I already have. On another note, the ski themed ride sounds good, and with the snow we got up here today (even though it's almost all gone now), this "wintery" announcement seems more appropriate than last week when it was almost summer weather. LOL! The ways to tell if someone is from Colorado or not. Though asking them where South Park is works better.

The sky ride is still there. I rode it when there with TPR last summer. I believe the car ride was replaced by Griffon. Nice pictures! -

The interview was the most memorable part of the day. At least post a link to it. That was almost as funny as the real one. I posted a made up interview in the thread for my Cedar Fair bashing RCT2 park (*loosely* based on that KD PR interview) not too long ago. -
Back in the days when V2 was still new at SFDK, I used to see their ads on TV featuring Geauga Lake's Steel Venom. When Zonga was new, they used Astroworld's Texas Tornado (though that was more acceptable because that *is* the same ride) for the promotional ads. They used SFMM's Viper in the SFDK park ads too.

Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
Goliath513 replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
After several weeks of very warm weather here in northern Colorado, it's starting to cool down rapidly. I'm hoping for some snow since it has long since melted. -
It's time for an update. Denver has lived on nothing but a few mediocre to crap coasters for long enough, and we need SOMETHING more! Waterworld satisfies and exceeds the water attraction needs for the entire western US, but our coaster collection barely satisfies Denver, not to mention the whole state.

Unlike Six Flags America, Kings Dominion did not even seem to have any potential to waste - just coasters that have mediocre potential at best and were running worse than mediocre. Grizzly was worse than it's brother at CGA. Meaning, this was worse than the woodie that has held the rank of dead last for many consecutive years. Just when I thought the pain was over, the rib-crushing-spine-shattering Hurler finished me off. Probably didn't help that I rode next to Robb on that. I can't wait to see what you post about the lunchtime interview (dear God that was horrible, and a bit scary)!
